This was incredible!❤ I've been trying to learn this myself and its so much fun experimenting, trying to create these sounds. Where did you find the chirping cricket boxes? I found some electronic ones but i didnt like how the ones I got sounded in person
It’s such a powerful piece! I love playing it! Thank you so much for your kind words! I unfortunately couldn’t find boxes, so I created my own track from multiple cricket samples. That way I could control the sound I wanted to achieve and had to only learn the timing, so I could follow it closely with the movement on stage :) If you’ve already found sounding boxes, perhaps it’s an idea to try amplifying them and changing their sound electronically? There could be a big room for play there :) I hope you enjoy the process and performing of the composition!!
@@kalinavladovska now that's one way to do it! I honestly had no idea the boxes weren't "alive". I toyed with the idea of trying to make some from scratch but my electronics skills aren't so great lol. I'll definitely look into fiddling with their sound, I don't think I could match a recording so well! Also thank you for answering my questions
This was great! I've been in the process of aquiring all the required sounds for the past 6 months and I just can't seem to get the "fruit basket gong" right... What is that rainbow colored cylinder called?
Hello there! Thank you for the comment. It’s a thunder drum. Sold in quite a few places :) there are many sizes as well, if you want a deeper sound. I used a contact mic to amplify and add some effects to make it sound bigger. My favourite part was making the snare drum skin! :) Enjoy preparing and playing the piece!
@@kalinavladovska Ahh thank you so much! I'll have to check it out. I also loved the idea of having the batter head with springs on a completely separate drum from the one you play with sticks on. A simple idea, yet a very good one! I will be taking a few pointers from your performance if you don't mind!
Hello there again! I have a question - was this animation custom made for you? I'm asking because I'm currently preparing for my masters degree rechital, and I'm wondering about displaying a short film while I play this piece :) I really enjoyed your performance! Best regards! :)
Hello dear Karol, Yes, the animation was made for this occasion by the visual artist Christiaan Donker :) You could find me on Facebook or Instagram if you would like to talk more. :) Greetings
right on!
