I'm 34 years old and was homeless since i was 16. The last 6 years i was homeless in Echo park but camped by dodger stadium. i was told by a park ranger stay out of site out mind. That worked for me i stayed hidden and people didn't even know i was there just keep your spot clean. Almost all the homeless are on drugs or have some mental disability shoot i was a heroin addict. A Lot of them are just not ready to change or get clean and admit they got a problem. Some are young they'll get tired of living like that i did. It wasn't hard to turn my life around. I Just admitted i had a problem got on methadone went to homeless health care told them i wanted off the street the next week im in transitional housing. I am now a year and half clean and just got approved for an apartment. So if your homeless and reading this it is real easy to change your situation. But it's up to you to want something better for yourself.

Jeremy congratulations on your new journey and home . Sobriety and it’s benefits are amazing keep on the path of recovery. It only works when you are ready to see yourself as the problem and you come to the conclusion that you would like to be happy and live . I’m so glad to hear you decided to do something different .

Politicians don't want to solve the homeless problem, it would put many projects that politicians line their pockets with government subsidized funding and construction contracts to their friends. This is a major cash cow for construction businesses, politicians, and county and city officials. If they solved the problem all those contracts, funding, etc would disappear. Check out Venice, the cost of housing is so inflated that it's impossible for these areas to actually build housing that fits the economic model, there is a video done by epoch times, with a city council member who explains how and why the discrepancy from cost of building homes for homeless and why the problem will never be solved, even though there are non profit organizations that can provide shelter to homeless for a fraction of the costs of these multi-billion dollar construction projects. It's really eye opening when you hear what can be done versus what is being done and what is being approved by state politicians and businesses

I was homeless after high school graduation 1979 in the Great North Woods in Northern New Hampshire. Crap family, no jobs. I had to live in a tent even in winter. For a living hunted, trapped animals for food and pelts, fished, picked berries, cattail shoots whatever it took to survive. Picked the dump for metals to sell. Bathed in cold mountain streams. Damn I made it. Nature tried to kill me several times but made me tough as can be. Over the years I have turned it around. Overcoming difficulties makes you stronger. Carry on, Seize the Day.

@@triciajohnston8259 I'm in Oregon and, sadly, we are seeing an increase here daily. Our dictator governor keeps prematurely releasing imprisoned felons who often wind up on the streets. They are dangerous to everyone, including the homeless. I don't know what the answer is as many of the homeless are addicts and don't want the resrictions necessary to get clean. There are also a large portion of them that won't get help because they would have to get rid of their dogs and cats. It's a HUGE problem growing daily. One local park where I formerly walked my dog is simply too full of homeless to go to anymore. While walking at another park I had an encounter with a man that kept trying to engage me in conversation beyond hello and nice day. He followed me around trying to chat. The fact that you cannot rent a place anywhere in the city because of the prices and 3/4 the housing stock being held by real estate investors and people using them as AirBNB's? It will act as a magnet alright! Now just imagine its causing the homeless to leave your street to go live there, leave the beach, leave the . . . . The only problem is that this park is one we want to use, RIGHT! So I propose we create a magnet in another park at another location, eh? You put this park where it doesn't deprive established residential neighborhoods or endanger the environment and do it soon because those that have and judge will soon be joining them and it could be you!
