The Liturgical Year of the Roman Catholic Church 6 - Liturgical Colors

In the last part on the Liturgical Year of the Church, we look at the liturgical color being used to celebrate liturgical seasons. We learn that the color used for vestments and hangings inside the Church present the mood of the appropriate seasons and sacraments. We learn that at the 3rd week of the Advent, the “Gaudete” Sunday from the Latin “joyful”, the rose color vestment is used, as a sign of the nearness of the coming of Christ. The 7th Sunday of the Lenten Season is also called the rejoicing Sunday from the word “Laetare” used by Psalm 66 verse 10: “Rejoicing Jerusalem.” The presentation also provides the perspective on how blue color which represents the purity color of the sky and the Greek royalty is used to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary.
