Okay so I actually got to have a fancall with Rie the other day (yes, I'm still in shock), and he DID THE MOVE!!! I had asked him if he was taking care of his health and he said "oh yes I'm very strong boy" and then did the chest pop to demonstrate, but it was SO CUTE??? Like, how can he be that hot *and* that cute? I mean, he's always had that duality, but experiencing it first-hand like that was just...my soul ascended lmaooo

Ughhh I'm trying not to be jealous. I've been trying to get a fc with them for ages. I've been lyon almost since their debut. I'm happy you got a FC though! Rie was initially my bias but I switched to nine 😆 also I really really miss love.

Also personally my conspiracy theory is that South Korea is not a fan of OOO bc of their open BLATANT support of LGBT topics, so they don’t get any promotions unless they win by LyOns voting, or they get sponsored by a product or a company. I think Korea does not advertise them, or encourage people to find them. I think they might be getting purposely stifled because of just how progressive they are, and that it is plainly and genuinely stated, not “fan service.” So maybe that’s why it’s harder for international fans to hear about them :/ Thankfully and surprisingly, Yoojung’s solo was recommended to me on TH-cam! But in my many years of being a fan of K-pop, TH-cam never recommended OOO before. No K-pop stores in my STATE carry their albums in store or online.. so it’s really hard for international fans to find them and with how perfect and talented and beautiful that they truly are, I just don’t think it’s an accident that they are considered to be obscure.
There is also the fact that they mainly appeal to older, lgbt people, probably early 20’s and above. Their music isn’t designed to be “catchy” or to appeal to the general mass audience. Their music tells stories, has deep lore connected to their discography, and it has a purpose [not to say other groups don’t]. But the combination of their fan demographic and the fact that they seem to specifically avoid making music that is “trendy”, I think also adds to their niche following. But honestly, all of these things are what make them so incredibly special and different; and it makes them the most favorite group to LyOns because we understand and appreciate just how special they are. They said they want to be the only one to someone special, and OOO has that place in every LyOn heart because there is truly no one else out there like them.
You will not get another group like this any time soon, with this specific sound, this dance ability, the personalities and charm, and the comfort that they give you. I just hope they know, even with their smaller fan base, that they are seen, appreciated, and deeply loved ❤️
Yoooo your comment makes so much sense all of a sudden!! It's so true that kpop stans are so unaware of OnlyOneOf, but I never thought it's due to South Korea cancelling them out!
I guess we international lyOns have a very big duty now....promoting our bois cuz the kpop industry won't. We want as many international lyOns we can, so that we may pay off the sheer hardwork, dedication and talent of the members and pay back the happiness, comfort and the light they brought in our lives.
One thing that seriously bothers me is the fact that kpop industry promotes skinship and the audience enjoy it all the more. But the moment they see the members being comfortable with each other, they label it as queerbaiting or simply just cancel them all out....like wtf? You enjoy staged physical touches but not the genuine and sweet ones? And moreover we can find youtube videos titled "gay moments by kpop groups" and it's not queerbaiting, but cute and genuine bromance is? Y'all need therapy istg-

It’s so wholesome to see all the members shining. Yoojung has always been confident in himself and he has always been the shining star. KB has always had confidence as a person but he’s growing into a well-rounded performer. You can really see and feel the confidence and personal growth and expression in each member and it’s so beautiful ❤️

Love your reactions. I agree that OOO members have been growing. Their music, performances, and production have been great, but they still keep improving every time they release new things. However, not you reading my comment under gaslighting🤣 that caught me off-guard. They recently did a special stage for gaslighting at Mcountdown, and the stage is so beautiful. There are group and all member individual fancams as well. This is such a great performance, and I never get tired of watching it.
Edit: Another note about international popularity. I would say generally OOO is actually doing pretty well internationally given they are from a small, newer company. None of the members have participated in survival shows, which is quite unique. If you look at most 4th gen boy groups, one or more members have participated in Produce, mix 9, or even their own debut survival shows. Most of the popular 4th gen boy groups are also from bigger, longer-established companies. Now, some Kpop companies buy views on TH-cam and buy their own albums, so it is hard for people to really tell how is more or less popular. Especially when OOO has not been buying views on TH-cam about a year after their debut, it is hard to compare their popularity to other groups. Another factor is a recent observation, there are more homophobes in the world than I thought, and many of them are active kpop followers. Having LGBTQ+ representation in their work does them more harm than good in terms of popularity, but I applaud the fact that they never back off and keep doing the important work. lyOns are steadily growing.
I remember hearing about OnlyOneOf back when they debuted cause they were connected to LOONA (which is one of my ult groups). But I never really looked into them because kpop -especially this generation- is very saturated with groups that it can get overwhelming trying to keep up. And then pandemic hit. So masterpieces like "dOra maar" and "Designer" that were promoted that year, never crossed my radar through all the stress and depression.
Fast forward to the end of last year, Spotify shuffled in "dOra maar" and from that day it's been on my On Repeat playlist. But I still didn't look further than that. Then they dropped "Skinz" and I went "You know what.... I really liked dOra maar I should actually give them a real shot" and from there it was a wrap. I wanted to write a 10 page essay on why Skinz was Ingenious. Watched every live and then went back to catch up on their work. Only to be shocked that they were the Kpop boy group that went viral with their "Malamente" cover that was ALL OVER my social media feed. And being apart of the LGBT community myself, seeing what they're doing just solidified me never going back. Amazing music, insane choreo, stunning cinematography, ridiculous but sweet personalities? Yeah. I'm in this for the long run.
I didn't mean for this to be a long comment, but I genuinely feel like they just had unfortunate timing (ontop of the obvious backlash and the disadvantages from being from a smaller company) and I really hope that they get the full recognition they deserve.
These girls are absolutely right, I am not a Kpop fan, but I recently met OOO because of their drama and I really liked their style, they are the first Kpop group that I follow because they are totally worth it❤
yes they have grown so much and it shows in their confidence and how they have established their own sound which is so important and difficult at the same time because of the huge market that is kpop also they have went through a lot of shit in the last years so that made them appreciate their platform and their work even more i think
I'm not the biggest fan of kpop, it's just not really my type of music but the way I'm stanning OnlyOneOf OH GOD. I am lucky to have kpop friends who told me about this group but what you said is true, there are many people like me from the past who just don't know about their existence since they're not into kpop but would absolutely LOVE them

I'm sure you follow other KPOP groups so you know how promotions work in SK: teasers, MVs, music show stages for up to 3 weeks, variety shows, pop ups in music stores. Depending on the status of the group and if they can guarantee to generate certain ad revenues, they'll be asked onto certain shows. The same holds with magazine covers: Dazed Korea, Elle Korea, etc. That also holds with being asked to be a brand ambassador for a cosmetic company, where their faces would be plastered literally everywhere in the marketplace. But because their "lane" is not the standard, and you know what I mean when I say this, they have to be creative in their marketing/branding. OnlyOneOf is very popular in Japan and that's a start in branching out to the Asian market beyond SK. Their Grand America tour will make in-roads for them in the Latin American and stateside markets. Europe and the UK will likely be down the road, possibly through a K-CON tour as that makes more sense financially [that's what Stray Kids is doing through the Music Bank tour]. Keep pushing OnlyOneOf music/brand to non-lyOns for more recognition! Thanks for your reactions!
