- Randy and I went to day two of Railfest 2024 in Mentor, Ohio - outside of Cleveland. We were hoping to find some O scale deals. A lot of HO and N with some O and G were at the show.

The Lake Erie & Midwestern Railroad is a free-lanced O Scale model railroad that takes place over the last 50 years, or so. Set in the Midwest, between Chicago and Pittsburgh, the majority of action occurs in the triangle between Toledo, Cleveland and Columbus, OH. You can find modern fast freights with 6-axle GE and EMD diesels in consist as often as old Alco and Baldwin switchers shoving freight around the spurs to the various industries. It's a great hobby and we're excited to share the progress on the construction of our layout with you.
About The Great Berea Train Show:
Railfest Train Show. Largest continuous running 2 day train show in OHIO! Brought to you by The Western Reserve Division of the (N M R A). Since it was started in 1984, Railfest has grown into one the best and largest model railroad train shows in Ohio. Emphasis is placed on making this a family activity. Not only are there a large number of model railroad dealers, but there are also many operating model railroad layouts and displays. Railfest is held every year in March at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio. The date is typically the third weekend of March, but it depends on the college's schedule. We couldn't visit on Day one, so I wonder what kind of deals we missed. Prices seemed a little high this year on what little O scale we found

Glad you enjoyed! I wish the prices and selection were better from our O scale perspective but there was some decent N & HO stuff there for those folks that model those scales.

@@TheLEMRR The only show for me is a two hour ride. Greenberg show...twice a year. It decreased in size through the years with just a couple of small layouts for the children. Some even charge a couple of dollars to hold a remote for several minutes. Crazy ! 🤷

@@TheLEMRR Yes, prices marked are very high, but keep in mind these are only asking wish full thinking prices. The actual price is controlled by how much the buyer is will to pay. Otherwise the train just stays on the table. Walking to the next table is always an option, purchase made or not. Some vendors are willing to liquidate stock and others are in for maximum profits. Try to find the vendors that really wanna sell.😊
The prices seemed high I get stuff so cheap on Facebook market place and Craigslist it's crazy

Hey that video was a good one when you showed some N scale train cars and Locomotives that was the part i liked about this video and the train show and Some of those HO guage layouts looks good and also I like those N scale layouts too

Sometimes The Second Day you can And Will Get what Your Looking for or On The First day depends The Show one show You’ll Get it on The First day Next show You’ll Get it On Day 2. If You Want My Opinon if it’s There Get it Before It’s Gone It True You snooze You lose.and Another Thing Is this Stay Till Closing. I Remember one Show my Friend Couldn’t get what he was Lookin for so I went and Got what I was Lookin For. Some Shows Are Hot Some times they’re Not. Gotta Remember Do YOUR Homework!
Hit or miss. Sadly didn’t see anything that I was interested in buying even if it was dirt cheap. Maybe at the next show!
I Think You get what you will Be Lookin for in the Next show. When Going To train Shows Plan Your closest 3 Shows or More. If not the First show the 2nd Or 3rd Show you will Find what you’re Looking for.
I do a lot of online auctions and have found great success with them. I like the shows because you can physically inspect everything and sometimes test it too. I was a little taken aback by the prices this time around at this show though. The Berea show in October is usually really good to us. We’ll find some deals somewhere lol.

The HO set? All the HO and N items at the shows sometimes leave me regretting the fact that I sold all of that stuff off long ago

@@luvindemtrains I assumed the whole club show you attended were 2-rail units.
The regular ones I attend are mostly 3-rail. The swap meet we just had was mostly 2-rail. It was small and I didn't see a whole lot that I couldn't live without@@TheLEMRR

Most Railking is not scale at all. Premiere is true 1/48 scale. I don't know what that guy was talking about. Great Video. Thanks for sharing.

Sums up every train show I’ve been to in the past year. Little to nothing of o scale and tons of o27 and ps1 junk. You’ll find a nice car on occasion but never an engine worth the drive.
We found some great deals in Berea, OH back in October, but this show was a little bit of a bummer this time.
