As an Irishman living in the UK I despair about whats happening in my country. I have never seen this before, and could not believe what I have just seen. This is the type of thing that turns yong people away from politics and voting. My father living in Dublin has never used his vote, for reasons that all politicians disgust him.I had many arguments with growing up about his stance. But now aged 43 I see exactly where he came from, since Haughey got caught out, and then Aherne got caught

I was summing up Ireland's current troubles to an American friend on MSN one day. I was using a keyboard I am not acquainted with and thus I didn't know how to type a fada on it. When I got to the end of my description there was a long pause before he replied, at length: "It sounds like having the word 'fail' in the party's name was a self fulfilling prophecy"... I explained what the name actually means, but never has a truer word been spoken!
