Catfish jugging small creeks

- In today’s video, I will be using homemade jug lines to fish for catfish. However, before starting I need to catch some fresh bluegill for bait.
When it comes to catfishing the fresher the bait the better. With this in mind, I brought my ultralight set up today to catch some fresh bluegill that I would then cut and use for bait. When targeting larger bluegill I prefer a size 1 or 2 circle hook. However, today I stepped down to a size 10 wire hook because I wanted to catch any bluegill in the area nothing too specific. Given the amount of panfish in the area, they are certainly a food option for catfish and therefore make a lot of sense. While you can use frozen bait I found that it tends to not stay on the hook very well especially when it comes to fish therefore fresher bait works better and stays on the hook longer.
After catching my bait I went ahead and set jug lines out I make these drugs at home using 1 inch PVC pipe, pool noodles, stainless steel eye screws, PVC glue, and a piece of rebar on the inside to indicate with a fish strikes the jug. If you intend to use jugs at night I would also recommend reflective tape so that they are more visible. When it comes to line and hooks I would recommend anything from 5/0 to 8/0 circle hooks with the hooks being a weighted or small weight on your man line. I generally fish for blue catfish which can feed higher in the water column, therefore, I find anywhere between two and four feet of line is suitable for jugging keeping in mind that jugs that don't have weight on the bottom will float around an area, especially with wind or tide. The mainline Can be mono, cotton-based, nylon, or braid. In essence, anything you have available and lying around that's over 50 lb test. Personally, I have not seen a significant difference in paste online choice the benefit to monofilament or some nylon lines is that they are easier to tie hooks on to than larger-diameter cotton-based line.
Set jugs out between 50 and 100 yards if you are in a crowded Waterway trying to find an area that has less traffic as your jugs are less likely to be messed with Or be damaged by other boats. jug fishing is an activity that you can do during the day or night and I've had success regardless of the time of day.

Hell yea can’t wait! And on your bushmaster is your BCG a lil stiff or sticky feeling when trying to remove it or charge it or is it smooth with no resistance I have other ars and there’s will slide with ease this one seems a lil stiff for some reason
Mines relatively smooth I’ve had bolts with burs on them in the past that weren’t very smooth
