I haven’t deactivated my Facebook account yet but I was inspired by you to step away from it. I feel a lot happier since I have. I felt like I was endlessly scrolling and wasting time. I was always afraid I would miss something or I would hurt somebody by missing a birthday, anniversary or an important event. I would compare my life to everyone else and I would feel negative afterwards. Thank you for helping me to choose to think on the most important thing … which should always be my faith! You are inspirational and I love your channel! ❤

“Watching other’s lives go by”…😑 “Comparison is the thief of joy”… 😢 “facebook brings out a lot of negativity”… words of truth. Facebook causes me pain and wastes my time, precious time I can’t get back.

Your homespun wife TH-cam channel blesses me. Like having older mentor helping younger women. We can feel like you are our family and giving us advice how to live godly. Praying for us as we pray for you and love you for caring for us.
We need godly direction and God use’s you, a pastors wife to help us women.
Thank you for your channel, just sharing your life and Ollie hauls and prayer scriptures and your home ideas is doing wonders. It connects us to you and we are getting godly advice in all of it. Much love sister. 💜

Thank you for this. I no longer scroll FB, I just check notifications and respond to any thing I post. it's never controversial family church or otherwise, but just light things like my hobbies, a spiritual edification, a funny for the day and a church pic every Sunday with the text 'Have A Blessed Day!'. I'm not on Instagram, tic toc or 'X'. I no longer spend hours on Pinterest. BUT youtube is quite large in my life. I'm forced to live the sedentary life because of pain so with youtube I travel the world, watch various dances of the world, glass blowing, gardening that I can't do, continue to learn more about my hobbies, cooking, money management, plenty of good Christian teachings, podcasts, Dollar Tree hauls, etc. LOL.. But I love to learn. Without much money and unable to get out a lot I don't feel isolated, out of the loop. I do go to church and Bible study and have a small family and friends support group. I know I'm late to this party but since I've found you a few days ago, I have slowly been checking out your vids....it youtube, you know LOL.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this today. It has been on my mind as of late that social media can be so consuming of my time and have been convicted in a similar way as yourself. I was like you. I was on Facebook at the beginning. I connect with all of my cousins across the country. I also played Farmville. 😅
Now, I have decided not to get on Facebook daily. I'm seeing many quotes that "give advice," but not based on a good source. Too many memes, some funny, some not. I check in now once a week. I do have a Bible study group there where I check in at 7 a.m. I do love your Facebook page. Once a week for other things. I now get so much done with my personal projects and my time with the Lord. A verse that convicted me about seeing and reading things that are either building up or discouraging to me is Philippians 4:8
Thank you, Sherry, for your words of wisdom. I'm 78 years old and I'm still learning. ❤😮

Such a great topic for discussion especially for Christian women. Thank you for sharing your heart on this Sherry! I found that when I joined your Scripture writing page that I was spending more time on the art work so I could share it rather than spending more time in the Word. I quickly realized I had to drop out of it and repent. Pride was the downfall (one of them) of Eve and we all have to check ourselves to avoid it but some of us more so than others. I have since kept my page but I haven’t been involved with it in years now. It keeps me more focused on God and what His Word says - not what the world says.

    • @thehomespunwife
      @thehomespunwife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hi Tracy! I understand what you are saying. I started the Scripture Writing group with the intention of keeping it for one year only. I knew I needed accountability to finish an entire year of my commitment to the Lord. After that first year, so many ladies were enjoying the group that I decided to continue going with it. I felt God was using the group to enhance my devotional time and the devotional time of others. After 5 years, I had to re-evaluate my aims. I realized that I was dreading my Scripture Writing time because I needed a break from the pressure of being responsible for an additional FB page. I loved all the ladies in the group and was hesitant to step down. But in the end, I knew this is what the Lord was leading me to do. I was so thankful Jeannie agreed to take over the group. She has been very dedicated. God provided the opportunity for me to step aside, knowing those who are still called to Scripture Writing are able to find support and stay in the group. In the year since, I have felt a renewed sense of energy. I also can see the group is continuing to prosper. What a blessing for all involved.
Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts.

Great video! I do still have a Facebook account but I have learned a lot during the time since I started it. I am now very careful who I accept a friend request from and I don't post very often anymore but do share things from time to time. The main reason I kept it is because of the wonderful groups I have been able to join on it. I love nature and all of God's creation so living here in the Pacific NW I am blessed to be surrounded by so much beauty. Most of the groups I have joined are for photography and people posting pictures in this area of so many extraordinary and beautiful places that I might not otherwise know about.

I just found you and listened to you read the first 2 parts of your book. I could listen to you all day.
Your voice echoes the spirit of God! I don't have fb but I'm hopeful I can access your book.
Id purchase an audio version of you reading it any day!

As to this video I sooo needed this.
I have been feeling the negative of being the scent of death to the lost. I am seeking renewal in the stillness of the Lord Jesus Christ, and know His sweet scent will refresh my soul in His due time.
At this moment I am feeling wore down and sadly have been struggling for quite some time now to find fellowship with like minded believers in the unity of the spirit of truth to converse and ultimately give God glory through the fellowship together.
I know its just a season and maybe even a refinement in the fire. I am content in all things , knowing and trusting God uses all things for his glory!
If you could lift me in prayer if very much appreciate that and I my dear am I praising God for sending me your sweet genuine spirit to speak His goodness and affect my heart with His sweet scent
God bless you and your family ❤️

I agree with all of your reasons and can so understand it. Negativity was huge. For me, it was when I started on the journey of getting my peace back. Well, the peace of God back. FB was so stressful for me and I found that I was judging the people in my small town based on the things they would post. It’s not like I don’t know where some people stand, especially fellow church members, and that troubled me with their views, but I have to give that to God. I was so anxious, stressed and burdened by it. I just couldn’t do it anymore. It isn’t worth it. Also, I was addicted and didn’t know how much until I deleted it. After two weeks, I finally got over that urge to open the app and see what everyone is posting. I knew I did the right thing for me and my family. I’ve been FB free for probably 4 years, at least. I only have an Instagram now and rarely use that and only for my volunteer headstone cleaning work. This video was so on-point, so thank you for speaking about it. I truly think things would be better if we could go back to the pre-social media era! God bless ❤

    Hi Sherry
I do not do facebook, the most I have is whatsapp and thats enough, to be honest I see alot of trying to be up on someone, and I am not sure I like that, I think the more we go on, the more people think they have a right to know your business and that bothers me alot, and I do noy want to share all the time, its addictive and invasive and it breeds gossiping and unhealthy behaviour and I need to unplug from it all, and have a gentle quiet spirit, so I am in agreement.

I had an account once I didnt like it is a rabbit hole, and you miss time in your own life. I closed it very soon after it was opened.

So do you still have your Facebook scripture writing group?

Scripture Writing Through The Year is still active! I managed the group over 5 years and after that time, I turned the leadership over to Jennie Eldridge. She does such a wonderful job! I am still a member in the group.
