I just kept waiting for the male to get out safely! They make me nervous when they just sit there. LOL You know, I have watched a few other tarantula video makers in the past, and I have to say, that in my opinion, yours is the best. Others use loud voices, and make too much "excitement", for lack of a better word, but you just do a calm video, and there's enough excitement in what you show with your content and it makes it very pleasing and satisfying to watch. You're the Tarantula expert in my opinion, and that's why you are the ONLY ONE I follow on this subject! Why should I look at anyone else, when I have the best right here. Keep up with the good content Dave and Camera Lady!
I’m happy this went well - for both you and the spiders! I’m always on pins when the male hangs around, in hope that he won’t become dinner! Beautiful spiders. I hope you get a fruitful egg sac from this pairing. 😊❤
I think he was pretty brave just sitting there after the pairing rather than scooting off like the males usually do, possibly because it was his first pairing he had that extra bit of courage lol Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 for a nice big full sac of babies Great video as always guys 😊👍🏻
I say again-they're still very beautiful even when they loose that flashing Blue. That pairing went nicely smooth. As if they knew this will be up on Easter Monday😉🐰🕷
Remember seeing these for sale at SEAS 2019, going for stupid amounts of money on all the Polish Traders tables - miss those guys at the invert shows now, they always had such cheap glass enclosures
My favorite channel, some of my favorite people, my favorite spiders and my favorite type of videos! All for my 61st birthday on April 1st! Thanks Dave and Camera Lady.❤❤
Hi Dave and the lady with the camera!❤🤗 So I turn on another video and think... and actually, how can it surprise me, because so much has already been shown, and it turns out quite the opposite. I'm just thrilled. It's an incredible feeling in tandem with the curiosity of what's going to happen in the arena in the room of beasts. And this is the merit of the male and, to some extent, the female. The male is gorgeous and incredibly smart, if that expression applies. How well and wisely did he do everything, leaving the bag in delight and calmly left after doing his job. Bravo!!!! So we are looking forward to the cocoon and of course a new video about this very interesting water spider. I wish you the lady with the camera good health and success! Thanks for everything!
Fantastic stuff Dave, and a very successful pairing by all accounts, the male was very sure of himself, hopefully this will result in a very viable egg sac, anyway Dave another super job by yourself and camera 📷 lady Dave.
Dave! My birthday is this Sunday the 7th. I have been with you since the beginning and your channel is one of my very favorites. In your video on Sunday would you give me a birthday shout out?! I would be chuffed to bits lol. Im in America so I got that saying from you lol. I just love it. You have said many things that I love!
The way he waves his pedipalps in the air every time she backs into the burrow almost looks like he's shouting, "What are you doing?! Stop!" 😂 I'm glad he made it out ok!
Good pairing and lets hope we see a new sac soon. That was an interesting chat on why some females eat the male, as you said theres still lots to learn 👍
They are stunning spiders, are these for experienced keepers? A great video fascinating watching two spiders together I am starting to understand their body language, you are a great teacher! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great video! Nice steady camera, and great focus throughout. Absolute pleasure to watch. Dave, your comments and analysis of the behavior observed adds depth and meaning.
Lovely vid as always. With them having big sacks its a shame they are still quite pricey although they have come down in price a bit recently. I received a tiny sling in a Malaysian multi pack from CFTN but unfortunately it did not live for long despite my best efforts, just one of those things and I guess the reason why they have so many offspring, the price is putting me off getting another but will look again when the prices come down. Have a great BH and look forward to the next installment.
And another great video full of useful information. You guys are my #1 go to when I have questions. I appreciate all the videos you do. I always find the answer in one of them and if by chance i don't you've been wonderful about personally answering them. Thanks again for all you do. Sending extra good vibes for a full and healthy egg sac.
Lovely and interesting pairing video. Your have a calm manner and great explanations on what's going on each time. On a different note, about a year ago you had a video of the Thailand Golden Fringe female tarantula, and she was gorgeous! I hope to see her in one of your "Night sightings around the Beasties Room" or "feeding" video compulations soon. Unless she has gone to spider heaven.
Absolutely love your videos! Looking to pick up my first little beastie (hopefully one of many) tomorrow. My friend is coming along and looking to get a bearded dragon. Cheers and thanks for all the great videos!
It may not be the fact that they absolutely need to eat the male in order to produce a sac but it may eliminate the need for the female to have to go out and hunt while they are producing an egg sac. Also: tarantulas are probably a lot closer to thinking along the lines of species survival rather than worrying about the individual. You also see the same thing with the egg sac, if the female feels threatened in any way they might eat the egg sac and use those resources to produce an egg sac later on rather than allow an animal from another species to take the egg sac. That's probably the same line of thinking that makes them decide to eat the males.
I think you're correct about the female eating the male because of discomfort especially after that pairing video you did that looked like the emboli had a piece of flesh stuck to it presumably from hurting the female....fascinating for sure. 😀
Wow Dave! This male was a smart one, the way he kept acting “interested” after insemination. I’d do the same thing too if I might be eaten! …Good call little buddy, good call. 👍🏼 👍🏼
Hi Dave, regarding to the optical display: may be we see it like this, but what if he creates some airflow or vibrations through the air (probably with his pheromones)? For me this is making more sense than a pure optical display.
10:50... It's interesting how subtle his body shakes are, I can only see them when I focus on his rear leg hair against the moss, and she's frozen. I would LOOOOVE to know what's being said from both ends?!^^ \O>
Personally, I don't think they attack for revenge. Because some spiders do everything in their power to lure the male to a dangerous position and they are always willing to wait until the job is done before attacking. Or could it be both? Sometimes they are angry and sometimes they feel compelled to eat the male?
One thing I found out when pairing ts if the female molts out she's far to small to have a sack so she molts out and gets bigger inorder to have babies
24:36... There is a spider (forgot which9 that actually hunts and brings a catch for the female, then she either eats it and mates, or mates then eats it, smart male spider!!^^ Have u ever tried offering a roach (with prongs or sumn) right after a mating, b4 the male exits? Maybe she goes after it instead od him? Be a good way to solidify or debunk that theory, at least test it...not sure.^^ \O>
20:31... But u know, as for visual, perhaps it's not really. Maybe it's a controlled body shake or vibration? Think about it, if u put ur arm out extended, and mimic what he did with his emboly (spelling im sure), even tho not seen, ur body is gonna vibrate or shake according to ur arm movement, so maybe it is still a vibrational communication? (picture standing on a huge scale, whenever u move ur arms like that, the scale display of weight will vary whenever u move them, that would be the vibration she's getting), maybe?? \O>
@@johnsrabe I think there is an older video on this channel where the male grabs the female-it was a wolf spider pairing I believe, from 2 years ago or so? I’ll try to find it… Edit: it was actually a video of Tiger Wandering spiders, from Feb. 28, 2022. The caption reads “Tiger Wandering Spider Pairing Gone Wrong” or something similar. Check it out! :)
17:44... She didn't scratch her emboly (spelling I'm sure^^) but she is resting flat on it, I wonder if that's like a substitue for scratching after insemination?
COME ON LETS GET THE LIKES UP AND THE SUBSCRIBES THAT WOULD BE REALLY COOL and don't forget to tell a friend and share

so interesting that they have such vibrant colors when they are younger, similar to the metallica..... i wonder why that's the case🤔
One of the calmer pairings I do hope it's successful.
Are new spiders classified visually or by disection. Google doesn't seem to know 😢
Dissection and comparison of the mitochondrial genome would be more convincing
Both

Not really they normally protect them

They all protect them they are how he reproduces 👍

A.geniculata 2500slings

Sometimes we can intervene and save him other times its not worth it she is far too quick and the damage has been done
