@LuciannaG123 It's the ABC, they choose the panellists for starters, under the pretence they are "representative". The best example of detachment was Peter Lewis' befuddlement at why Trump had Dana White on stage during his victory speech. Dana and Donald are friends, and support each other, that's why. Peter then followed with the worst explanation of the UFC, that I have ever heard. All under some sort of pretentious guise of "knowing". Classic ABC tactic of explaining something poorly, that everyone already knows.

Incredible points that hope people pick up on when watching this.
5:59 - Malcolm Turnball provided some logic on the need for a strong border with generous humanitarian program
7:58 - Erin Watson understands why people put aside woke ideology because there are more important aspects of life like having food on the table and a roof over your head.
8:54 - Peter Lewis has no idea what he is talking about, literally asks people if they know the UFC and then proceeds to give a terrible description of it and doesn't understand why Dana White was speaking because he clearly doesn't listen when people on the right speak.
21:25 - Erin Watson literally said the words “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you” referencing Australia’s reliance on China. She’s correct on the need for diversity, but this is exactly what Matt was talking about Australia needing to be more self-sufficient with energy and manufacturing.
13:31 - Patricia Karvelas cuts off Matt speaking about why men feel disenfranchised in response to a question about why men feel disenfranchised… Then asks the kid who was clearly too scared to speak truthfully.
14:40 - Patricia Karvelas uses the terms “hypermasculinity” and “bro-mance in the voting” when speaking about what most men would feel is standard masculinity. Hypocritical much.
16:50 - Annastacia Palaszczuk says talk to everyone, not just people in the major cities. Hope she practices what she preaches.
29:00 - Malcom Turnball says that we’re too close to the US. Of course we are, they should be our top partner after England. We’re reliant on China buying our resources, and Australia is ranking 74th in the world on economic complexity.
26:00 - Matt Canavan discusses why Australian industry is failing and the rest of the panel laughs at him.
32:00 - Matt talks about nuclear and diverse energy and climate change and how we need to stop having juvenile discussions about the true mechanism for cheap, reliable, clean energy.
33:10 - Peter Lewis again with no clue. No one is denying climate change, they’re discussing the need for realistic solutions.
35:10 - Erin Watson points out the Biden will not be at the next Paris summit, but then Patricia points straight to Trump being the problem.
36:30 - Malcolm Turnball talks about the growth of renewables around the world. Which is positive. But pretends to quote facts which are quickly rebuffed by Matt.
40:00 - Matt Canavan explains why renewables and a stable base of energy are needed. We will always need a base like nuclear, or other fossil fuels, unfortunate, but reality.
41:00 - Annastacia Palaszczuk thinking like a true politician, we should partner with battery plants in China pumping out batteries… Make them here! Then mentions it takes 20 years to build a nuclear plant, completely incapable of thinking past the next few years.
43:20 - Peter Lewis talks about tech companies supporting Trump but fails to mention Google and others supporting Harris… Not worried about freedom of speech at all, to call him naïve is being polite.
50:00 - Malcom Turnball re-iterates that Trump is not a warmonger, he makes sense when he speaks on security and our partners.
54:00 - Annastacia Palaszczuk talks about how there can be a female president, without demonizing men. “The best person for the job”, I think most people would agree.
58:00 - Peter Lewis discusses media and the role of creating anger influencing women leaders. He is the media stoking this anger…
Refreshing to see ABC finally getting some one on the other side like Matt Canavan @matthewcanavan4967. Hopefully this continues.

13:31 If young Aussie men think they are disenfranchised, they're idiots. I'm a white middle aged man and what happened to the great conservative view of ‘pulling up your socks’? Young white men aren't disenfranchised, all of the developed world is impacted by the housing crisis and inflation. If they think they're disenfranchised, they should go volunteer in the communities or pacific islands to see actual disenfranchised people. Canavan should be talking to his kid to ask wtf his kid means? How can a white young man in central Qld, son of a bloke earning $240k a year for a decade, be disenfranchised and not ‘have a voice’? That’s the biggest piece of entitlement I’ve heard in ages. There’s teen girls on tiktok that are less entitled. What a joke.
21:25 Why should the US be our top partner? They are literally in the greatest ‘America purpose’ period since Australia’s been a federation. We are too reliant on the US. We live in the Asia-Pacific region and have no certainty Trump or the next US president will maintain unilateral protection with us.
31:00 Canavan again goes straight to ‘mining first because other countries’. What a shocker the cosplay miner is pro-mining. He still carries on that energy prices are somehow the only obstacle to manufacturing costs in Australia. This is simply not true. Our labor costs are too high.
33:10 Peter Lewis is an idiot, but Canavan was denying climate change. Or at the very least Canavan is being disingenuous and stating that because others do bad things, we must do bad things and why? Because his constituents are heavily interested in the resources sector.
36:30 Turnbull school Canavan on facts. Canavan, paid for by the resources sector, claims that is not true. Canavan is simply lying.
40:00 lol now you are gaslighting us. Canavan gave a one-liner “we need a reliable power source, not an intermittent power source”. You’ve simply lied here. Good one, seems like your agenda is now showing.
41:00 Palaszczuk has tried to have renewables made in Queensland since 2016. This is nothing new. She’s always faced resistance from the Nats. What a shocker. The politicians that represent resource sector aligned constituents fight against renewables. Even Canavan claimed ‘we need diversity’. If so, why fight renewables infrastructure being built in Australia? Canavan is purely for his own constituents and nobody else.
43:20 Agree. The bill is poor and appears to be a trojan horse to erode internet anonymity and freedom.
50:00 Agree, Trump is not going to spend money on war. AUKUS is a good deal for the US and Trump will likely see it that way as well. Morrison shat the bed with AUKUS sub deal and my grandkids will still be paying for it. I particularly loved that Turnbull gave a jab at India, which is a country whose culture is absolutely not aligned with Australian values.
54:00 Women do get abused on social media far more than women. Anyone who reads social media would know that is true. That said, the best person for the job should get the job, regardless of the job. Back to the young men feeling disenfranchised (notwithstanding the kid who’s dad earns >200k a year), it’s nonsense. These men have fallen for the social media tropes. Twitter and Instagram have made them believe something which is not true. If they are disenfranchised, every other group is as well.

Tarrif is the method, the question is the goal.
If you create big enough tarrifs, eventually an industry would be built in the gap created by the import and customer eg, Steel gets Tarrifed and so steel starts to be made in USA.
But the problem that can be seen is in the black market if the item in question is cheap and easily smuggled.
Look at how we have gang wars in australia over blackmarket tobacco. The Cigerettes are Taxed so high that you can make massive profits selling untaxed tobacco.
Ie. Taxed Ciggie price = $20/pack, untax ciggies = $15/pack.

If you feel like you are unable to say what you would like to say about your own compatriots, you may benefit from self reflection and from considering what it is you would like to achieve by pouring poison into the ears of our communities. Instead of mistakenly calling for some unprecedented right to say whatever you wish, why not step up and build up people?

Freedom of speech means that if you disagree with someone, you are allowed to speak your mind.
Not wanting freedom of speech means that you should go to jail for uttering such an argument.
You need to understand that there is always going to be trade offs and well, the trade off here is that people lie, insult, offend, and do any of those things.
Conversely the good things about it is that we reach the truth, and be able to speak the truth.

Matt Canavan talking about schools teaching that "masculinity is bad" is so out of touch and why young boys go to the alt right in the first place. They dont get taught that being masculine is bad, they get taught that TOXIC masculinity is bad for men because it breeds insecurity in males, telling them their feelings aren't valid and should shut them away. Toxic masculinity creates body image issues in males and is one of the reasons suicide is very common in males. Schools are just trying to make boys aware that toxic masculinity exists and its harmful; theyre trying to teach boys emotional intelligence. If thats shutting men up, then maybe the parents should make sure to monitor the toxic role models boys are looking at online.
