Appreciate my man Azrial for coming through! Y'all be sure to go support my guy on his channel. I know this one was a long one but it was a great discussion😄
TV system is a genuinely good way to portray the chaos inside the Hollow, if you make it into a stage then it won't carry the same feel as how Space and Time works inside the Hollow.
It was nice to learn about TV mode in the CBTs. I heard it talked about, but didn't understand what it was from the people I saw complain about it. Being able to finally play the game, I was kinda surprised when it ended up being the gameplay just being a JRPG or Rogue. I felt like it was a clever way of doing the in between of combat that was in-line with the story and (presumably) less resource intensive to make. I like it. However, I do believe it's not needed for the game to be good... But, they need to do something else. I feel like the removal of it worsened chapter 4. Visual novel, cutscene, combat, repeat. It was that about 4 times than the climax. It felt so frustratingly short, especially after that "a few days later" moment skipped straight to the Tour De Inferno which was 1 minigame, combat section, Mors mini-boss, and then the final boss of chapter 4... who was no threat, especially with the TRIAL Caesar's shield making him deal no damage or knockback. I think the TVs did a lot to break up the repetitiveness, especially since the focus isn't on combat difficulty. I still don't think they needed it because I genuinely think they coulda done a few more of the bike moments. Namely, I think they shoulda had ones where you were actually driving around with branching paths and a mini-map sort of thing. Something else to break up the exploration, or lack thereof. Still, while I don't think the TVs are needed, it was a nice flair that helped ZZZ be that much more distinguished from any other anime action game. Plus, I just think they're neat.
I agree. It’s not necessary but it provides a great pace break from everything, making content feel a bit more varied. I think keeping it would be fine but they need to spice them up a lot more so players become more interested in them. They’ve slowly improved them but they still need some work so we’ll see what the future holds
I quit the game within 10 hrs because the tv mode felt extremely slow and like it was holding my hand. I came back because a friend suggested that it gets better towards the end game. The tv mode for me is just never going to be entertaining when the other aspects of the game are so Dynamic and snappy (I become impatient wanting to be back in the open world with nice things to look at/ or fight). ZZZ in my opinion should lean into their strengths and keep us piloting the characters as much as possible. The combat is addictive, super flashy and stylistic, the tv mode cannot compete with the combat’s polish. Tv mode should be in the arcade imo🤣 it genuinely feels like a chore
Understandable! I know everyone doesn’t like it so all they can do is try to find a middle ground. Hopefully they find a solid solution for everyone but I don’t agree the combat is what’s really addicting about the game
