    Sending a huge THANKS to all of my viewers who commented and asked about Dimash's performance of The Fifth Element's "unsingable" song, Diva Dance. I love your feedback - keep it coming!

    Very much enjoyed your reaction and assessment of Dimash. As you have seen, Dimash Kudaibergen is one the most talented vocalist in the world. He has a 6-octave range and sounds great in all of them. He can sing Baritone, Tenor, Alto, Soprano, and even Whistle notes. He can sing opera, pop, rock, etc (often in the same song). But most impressive -- even more than his world class technique, dynamics and range ... he can communicate emotion so incredibly well. He says he doesn't sing high to show off -- he does it allow for the expression of an even wider range of emotions. He gets in character before any given song and doesn't ever leave it or take a break. He plays many instruments including dombra (Daididau), piano (Adagio), drums (Michael Jackson Tribute), guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, marimba, bayan, and cello. Here are a few of my favorites live performances from him (I highly recommend turning on English Subtitles, using the settings button in the bottom right corner).
    * SOS -- 2017
    * th-cam.com/video/eyUu2ZS4VBA/w-d-xo.html
    * Slavic bazar (2018) -- th-cam.com/video/W29zEuZVaxs/w-d-xo.html (I RECOMMEND THIS ONE TO AVOID COPYRIGHT ISSUES)
    * From The Singer 2017 (show in China) -- it was his first song there in the competition
    * It is fun to watch the other competitor's faces as they react to his singing.
    * All of the other singers/competitors are established artists in China -- Dimash was invited as a "wildcard" and
    was completely unknown to the audience and to the other competitors.
    * This is almost always the first song that people hear from him -- it really announced him to the world
    * Opera 2 -- 2017
    * th-cam.com/video/anKmU1J0l9g/w-d-xo.html
    * 2nd song in The Singer competition
    * This is not typical "opera" despite the name -- it is FUN and mind-blowing
    * Confessa / Diva Dance -- 2017
    * th-cam.com/video/23HYymUjIHE/w-d-xo.html
    * From later in The Singer 2017
    * First song is about losing love ... second one is just fun from the movie The 5th Element (sang in the movie
    by an alien -- many people say this proves conclusively that Dimash is an alien)
    * Adagio
    * th-cam.com/video/m41Kafa14ro/w-d-xo.html
    * Also from The Singer 2017 (other songs from The Singer are also AWESOME/Beautiful, but
    these 4 are a great place to start)
    * Shows how he can play piano as one of his many instruments
    * This is a masterclass in dynamics -- from slow and soft to high, strong and powerful
    * This in English
    * Song about being willing to wait a long time (Adagio meaning slowly in music)
    * The end is again unbelievable
    * This song shows how he uses high notes to convey emotions
    * Unforgettable Day -- 2017
    * th-cam.com/video/u52XDilf628/w-d-xo.html
    * Those first 4 were from The Singer 2017 competition. This was in a concert after The Singer after
    returning to his homeland in Kazakhstan
    * He composed the music for this himself when he was 19 and a friend's dad wrote a poem for the lyrics
    * He hits a D8 (a note so high, that it is well off the piano) just for fun and then goes on singing like that didn't just happen
    * Beautiful, beautiful song
    * Again turn on English subtitles
    * Sinful Passion -- 2018
    * th-cam.com/video/W9FlDMCo8LU/w-d-xo.html
    * th-cam.com/video/uxLhwfFFUQs/w-d-xo.html (since the first one is so unreal, lets you confirm he is a real, amazing alien!)
    * From the International Contest of Young Pop Stars -- opening night in Sochi, Russia
    * The last minute or so has to be heard a few times to fully take it all in -- amazing
    * Hello (Lionel Richie) -- 2018
    * th-cam.com/video/9G92IVn8DIw/w-d-xo.html
    * In English ... shows his improvement with English
    * In 2018, The Singer invited contestants back from the previous year to make a special performance for the show
    * The first half is beautiful and impressive ... the 2nd half is vocally mind-blowing
    * Love Is Like A Dream -- 2019
    * th-cam.com/video/xLEQzfqO_l0/w-d-xo.html
    * This is one of his most recent songs/concerts -- from April
    * Beautiful love song (make sure you have English Subtitles on)
    * This one is almost shocking because he does most of the song in his low register -- but later he
    becomes angelic and then the final high note (in mixed voice -- not just head voice) is held forever! He is superhuman
    * Drunken Concubine (With Li Yugang) -- 2020
    * th-cam.com/video/dibLOEOUpmE/w-d-xo.html
    * You hear some of Dimash's lowest notes ever and some of his highest
    * These guys sound amazing together
    He trains 3 hrs a day (and has done so for 20 years, since age 5). He has undergrad degrees in both classical
    and contemporary pop, and he will finish his masters degree this year. The videos on his TH-cam channel
    have English subs. He is a star in China (millions of fans on Weibo, QQ Music, KKBOX), and is getting
    big in Russia, and has fan clubs in 120 countries. People flew from 64 countries to Kazakhstan
    for his concert after the Singer. He just did a concert in New York in December 2019 (and he did what I would
    have thought impossible -- he got an American audience to sing to him in his native language --
    that is how devoted his fan base has become!)

    That long slide from deep baritone to high counter-tenor range is what grabbed me in this performance, aside from the usual insane fact of his range. There were no audible breaks at all, as he moved through the different regions of his voice. I'm trying to imagine the adjustments he's making on the fly to obtain that flawless slide, in his larynx, in his head, in his chest... and I can't. Imagination fails.
    Dimash is obviously enjoying himself here. Nothing that happens is hard for him. That's difficult to comprehend, too.

    That was indeed a stellar performance, made even more impressive by the fact that he's got a male voice.
    I don't believe that any human has yet sung this supposedly unsingable piece QUITE close enough to say that they did it 100%. This one was impressive for its accuracy and beauty! But also doesn't quite hit the mark (though the 1/2 transposition doesn't bother me).
    We've gotten WAY closer than I ever believed possible, though, and this one is pretty close. So, that's awesome.

    The Countertenor Enthusiast in me just HAS to know if you've heard Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen sing. I had the incredible privilege of seeing him sing Nireno in the HGO production of Giulio Cesare.... Alongside the amazing David Daniels as Tolomeo and the incredible Anthony Roth Costanzo in the title role. Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen opened his mouth, and suddenly I didn't want to hear anyone but him sing, despite the major countertenor chops sharing the stage with him. His American Bach Soloists album is breathtaking. And then I got another gifted ticket to see him REALLY show off as David in Saul during HGO's last season. He's rapidly rising to the top of my "favorite voices" list....

    I watched your last clip and I was sure, Dimash was going to be the last singer. When it was that singer with the grey hair. I thought, does she not know about Dimash singing this.
    Comparing them all, with all their strengths. There is no other winner than Dimash here.
    Plus, he sung it at a concert so of course he was going to sing it his way. But the quality and depth of his voice is just superb, every note clean and crisp, no shaky or weak notes. No tailing off either. His runs are to die for, so easy for him.
    I read that when Dimash sung this in "I am a Singer 2017" there is a guy in the front row in a suit, dark haired guy sitting, he stands up and shakes Dimash hand at the end of it.
    He is the guy who wrote the song for the film 5th Element. Because no one can sing it, he heard about Dimash and wanted to see if he could do it.
    But for me. Dimash was head and shoulders above the other singers on this......
    Well done by the way....enjoyed that review.

      Yes. Thanks. Please do Ogni Pietra or Olympico is the true name of the song. Fan cam Version seems to be the favorite of most because it stays focused on his face. I think at times you can see his tonsils. Although the sound quality isn’t the best it’s still one of the favorites. The other favorite is the Arnu concert version which is better sound quality but it is panning all over the arena and doesn’t focus on him as much. Looking forward to it.

    Forget all. You have to see 1. SOS 2. Adagio 3. Sinful passion. I personally love autumn. I think most performance from singer(chinas vocal competition) will blow you away. I hope you can fill the energy that fill the dears😉

      SOS is awesome - one of my faves! I actually was in China, and even did some coaching there (around 10 years ago). Met some brilliant singers in Chengdu.

    As opera singer, i recommend Ogni petra from Dimash it's an opera song, though you will have diffiult to decide if he is baritone, tenor or something else altogether.

    It's also important to remember that the film used synthesizers to create the downward run

    • @stich181991

      Also remember that in the film the actual singer sang it note by note

    • @momosaku16
      @momosaku16 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      she talked about that in the previous video

    • @notsarahatall3164
      @notsarahatall3164 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, the signing in the movie was all real. No synth

    • @BillTarling
      @BillTarling 3 ปีที่แล้ว +45

      @@notsarahatall3164 -- incorrect... the song was recorded in segments, and the audio for the downward run was synthesized. The production and engineers have talked about it for years in various articles... additional audio effects were also used to enhance the notes [to make them sound slightly more 'alien' since it was being sung by an alien]
      It's also why Inva Mula [the original singer doing the vocals for the character of diva Plavalaguna] did not perform the full song live for audiences

    I am surprised you didn't talk more about the downward slide he does with so many notes, this to me was the more impressive part of the whole number.

    • @TheCharismaticVoice
      @TheCharismaticVoice  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You're right - that part was really impressive. I've known singers who are able to be accurate with lots of notes, so that part that was actually more impressive to me was the way he rewrote that particular part for his voice and style. It was brilliant.

    Welcome to Dimashmania! Dimash is a voice like no other ever in the history of the world! I also first heard his voice in Opera 2, when he performed Episode 2 at Singer 2017. My life changed since. Wow, you were sharp! Noticing immediately that he was modulating half a tone higher and higher each time! Please continue reacting to Dimash! Every single performance and recording is a marvel in itself. Just last week Dimash released his first English MV, Screaming.
    Since that moment he stepped into the stage on January 21, 2017 till now, he has gathered 16 music awards!!

    I don’t think that it’s a problem for Dimash to sing it in the same key as the original. His head voice has a wider range than in this song. But still a great reaction !!! definitely like it!

    first of all. i'm from germany and i love watching your reaction videos. You have such a great mix of curiosity, excitement and professionalism. If I captured your facial expressions, it would be worth a reaction on its own. But what I really love is your honesty in your reactions. You're not just pretending to like something. If something doesn't fit, you say it and explain it. Thank you. I check almost every day to see if there is a new video from you.

    Latecomer here. I just discovered your channel recently and I love your analyses of the various artists. I am a big Dimash fan, so I’m glad I happened upon this Dimash series, because you have offered the most extensive analysis of his songs. Others who have done reaction videos to Dimash have been rendered pretty much speechless by him, and rightly so. I want to bring your attention to another version of Diva Dance that Dimash did as a duet with the Chinese opera singer Li Yugang, who was singing his song Drunken Concubine. It was more mash-up than duet. It was fascinating to see the notes Dimash could hit, as well as hearing the Chinese opera style that Li was singing. Also, please react to Li’s video Drunken Concubine, which arranges the classic opera piece to a more contemporary style. It is not live but still very fascinating. My apologies if you have already reacted to one or both; if you did, I haven’t found them yet.

    He's so theatrical and entertaining! It was a good decision to not put him in the original video, since he didn't really follow the notes. It's more like, he made a cover of the song. Very popular music-y approach to a piece, which is essentially modern art music (like classical, but new), being made for a movie and all.
