my first quad built took three days, now I can build the same quad in 5 hours, that's with de-pinning the X4R, And in casing the pnp50, updating the kiss fc, flashing the kiss esc's and the whole bit. I totally get why these guys are running this setup. when your crashing as much as I do you get good and rebuilding these little nuggets....😊
Wow! I thought I was the only one who did the heat shrink stretching trick with the pliers. It makes stuff look so nice when it's super tight and saves a little weight from going with a thinner heat shrink layer too!
Thank you for having worked on this. Both of my builds are based on your meticulous video; I used the PNP50 at the beginning but it is big, bulky & chunky even with the plastic covering removed. Im in the middle of refitting my original with this PDB & im already looking forward to getting some juice to it. So clean, compact & the hardware all fits nicely. Very nice touch with the plastic backing also. So far, this board is legit af!
Assassinriflez (PC GAMES) the sarcastic voice, strange but relaxing music, camera angles shot like a pro. But most importantly it critical that we continue to watch every video just to make sure mr steeles handlebar mustache is in check.
Took two things i took from this vid, the foam on the mic which i really needed and the props on esc which i will start doing because broke an esc the other day from prop strike. Thanks steele and keep up the good work.
I built this exact quad then the only change I did was incorporated the Reverb reciever antennae Mount, (3D print the Reverb 10 mm antenna tube mounts, stacked on top of 20mm stand offs, totaling 30mm stacked up), cleaner mount and looks cool to be off from the back of the quad to the back second row of standoffs:)
Hi Steele Great build. Can you help newbees by completing with software load up, transmitter /receiver and goggles bind. Then a complete build so we are able to get in to the air. Really appreciate all your hard work. Cheers
Watched one of your build vids over a year ago and still stay pretty much to your setup, minus the Kiss stuff... and have had great results. I feel like that antenna situation is the best I’ve seen anyone come up with.
What this humble little alien does not know yet is that he is in the hands of one of the best pilots in the world. Over the course if his lifetime he will travel the world with Steele, meeting amazing people every day in this hobby we call FPV :)
Yes men oh I'm learning so much bro thank u so much I watch other guys but they do not take their time to explain to us that are watching u guys well thank u again
Awesome stuff! Have been waiting for PDB/OSD for the Alien for a while, have been running KISSed Alien 5's for over 12 months without OSD's, as I don't like to clutter my build's with too many peripherals. Will be purchasing these for all my rigs, as soon as I can find someone who has them in stock. Keep helping to push the development of parts Steele, that and your epic flight footage have been some of the most inspiring and helpful things for me over the past few years of building and flying. Cheers
Can't wait until ImpulseRC ships my two Aliens plus an additional PDB for my current Alien. So stoked. Love the frame, the PDB looks like an awesome upgrade. Congrats Steele, well done!
Just adding this comment here so people can find it in google/search/whatnot - it's in the video but I couldn't find it later when I needed it: Mr Steele Silk Motors used with Kiss 24A ESC's will rotate clockwise by default. The jumper is required on motors 2 and 4, that's the front right and the back left motors. Mkay?
ugh, iv'e been fighting the urge to build an alien for a dedicated freestyle quad......this definitely makes it tougher for me. looking like a matter of when and not if. great video as always man.
Just ordered the PDB to give my Alien a bit of an update. To increase the "freshness" of the build and in the spirit of your recent video on gyro degradation I also decided to replace the year-old KISS FC. Can't hurt (apart from my wallet) :)
I'm as novice as it comes. I'm about to try my first drone. No idea how/where to start. Been researching a week or so. Found Mr Steele, dig the super detailed approach. I think I'm going to probably copy this video and give it a go. I'm nervous but pretty excited to try the hobby. Wish me well Mr Steele if you would be open, i would to shoot you some questions about attempting this video. Thanks
Well shit... just watched more... really doesn't seem like an.entry level approach. I really wanted to follow your advice to start by building your own drone, but even that seems to requires a lot of knowledge (what the shit are all these components... bah... thought I found a beginner entry path)
Wanted this PDB for so long and then finally bought a betaflight integration. I felt dirty when I purchased and sure wish there could have been more info on this PDB's release date before. IRC wouldn't accept pre orders even. Glad it's finally out. My loss I guess. Awesome idea Steele, thanks for sharing.
Nice build video man. Even though I've built quite a few aliens I still watched the whole video. I started putting the black screws into the side of the camera case too. After a few crashes to the front of the alien, the nipples on the camera case start to deform. Having the screws in there keep your nipples from deforming...gotta keep you're nips safe bro.
First off , very detailed build. Thanks a bunch. Love the tips also. But like the other gentleman, I'd love to see the configuration set up.. never used kiss and that's why. I just don't know how . Always use betaflight. Thanks again for your videos and helping the community. Much appreciated.

You have been an inspiration getting into fpv, I'm still rather new but I took your advise from the "getting into fpv" video, along with watching many other videos and I just ordered everything to build this exact quad besides your silk motors, I can't seem to find them anywhere so I'm looking to find an alternative and also order some thunder power lipos. I have been into racing 8th scale buggies for a long time but flying to unlike anything else and I havnt even flown anything bigger then a micro and my simulator yet lol. Thanks for your awesome videos!
I read quite a few comments like, "did the build straight through, no food, no water..." etc. Don't forget your brain needs food - depriving yourself of food / water / sleep makes the process a) take longer, and b) more error prone. Get some rest, eat, drink water, feed your body & your mind & it will be Much easier. This applies to pretty much Anything you do, Not just the build ;-)
steele use runcam split its lighter will make you rip balls better- wide dynamic range- never have blow-outs on blacks and whites again- Give it a try you will not regret:) if u have already tried it and dont like it- Im confused but accept it. 25g vs 110grams man (aslo more centers weight distribution for better ball rippage and floats
Congrats on the new gear Steele! Have you considered a second cam for your close focus shots? The auto focus on most of the cams really sux for this application. Manual focus is best but really a nuisance for going from the wide shot to a close in detail shot. A second cam with a sweet spot will help. Just a friendly suggestion. Rotor On Steele!

Ps my Reverb build is all Kiss gear(flies awesome) my newly built alien is Matek f7 flight controller with a Matek pdb, which also has a built in vtx with the mmcx antennae connector. Very clean build! After betaflight setup, it flies as good as my kissed out Reverb! Boom (2) quality quads in the fleet:)
May have to make one of these my first 5" build. Though may be overkill for someone still getting the hang of flying. Whoops, 2" micros, and naza based/sized builds only so far under my belt.
Steele, going back to something you said awhile back, learn from someone who uses the same components and isn't switching shit around all the time chasing the hype, I love the fact your still stoked on the Alien, just wanted to point that out. and oh yeah.. WHEN CAN I BUY THREE OF THEM ? Rotor Riot store still don't have them yet, did I miss out on the first skid of em already.... DAAAAAM , that PDB THO...
Jason Hull . Get the Martian 2. It's the banggood copy that flies similar for like a quarter of the price. I fly it, check out some videos on my channel maybe. There's plenty in stock!
Could you please do a full in-depth build video with all V2 equipment on it. Film it up closer too please so we can see what wires and things like that, go. Thanks
Half Pint FPV yeah , I've seen the martian 2 , but I just can't man, I have too much respect for Impulserc and the guys at Rotor Riot, yeah I can save a few bucks but it's also about supporting these guys and the work they all have done to promote this hobby, it was rotor riot and Steele that got me into fpv, I learned so much from them I would feel ashamed and depressed if I bought the direct rip off of the Alien, not saying that that it's bad, it's places like banggood that drive down the prices and keeps everyone on there toes, also I have three alien' s built already and two more in the package, I just like how everything you need pretty much is in the box, wire, shrink wrap, zip ties, battery straps, just all the little things that gotta have. Not to mention all the support on them. cheers!
Why are you pushing the piece of shit Martian 2, I broke the top and bottom plates of 2 of them in a couple of weeks, then got an alian, no breakages in the last 6 months.
So, out of curiosity I added up all the costs to build just the quad including the $199.99 GoPro camera. $852.02 +tax and shipping costs. Then you still need radios and all the accessories. If you purchased one of each on the list it's $1,622.87 +tax and shipping for an all in cost of $2,474.89. In the end you'd probably have one hell of a setup. Pricing is current as of this post. Nice video BTW.
Could you use a standard top plate on backward to provide increased adhesion for the foam wedge? It would still have the cut out in the back for the antenna.
Can we all respect the old-school power outlets and other older electronics stuff in that workshop?
Great to see it still in use Mr steel!
My first kwad build literally took 12 hours straight and I almost died of starvation after, I was so exhausted
Silweror you are not alone bruh
Silweror I stayed up almost an entire night and still had my FPV system to wire up the following day as well for my first build.
Lol. I feel like I missed the whole experience with a rtf quad. But after breaking my quad like 1000 times i get how you feel
Hahaha... been there, done that ;)
coffee, chocolate, coffee, joint, coffee, coffee, coffee, chocolate, joint, joint, joint, cry a little, joint, done! let's fly - that's my weekend ahead and I can't friggin wait!!!

we seriously have to thank him for making the best video description
Steve Anderson I need some lessons from him lol
haha
Idk why but build videos are entertaining to watch
Assassinriflez (PC GAMES) the sarcastic voice, strange but relaxing music, camera angles shot like a pro. But most importantly it critical that we continue to watch every video just to make sure mr steeles handlebar mustache is in check.
Assassinriflez (PC GAMES) cause you get to drool over all the gear you can't afford
Jon B Baca HaHa totally lol! How much is the pdb, there sold out and I can't find the price
Glowworm 334 it says 45 dollars on the rotor riot store but idk about immersionrc
K thanks.
Took two things i took from this vid, the foam on the mic which i really needed and the props on esc which i will start doing because broke an esc the other day from prop strike. Thanks steele and keep up the good work.

Love that trick about twisting the wires. Next build I'm going to do just that
Hi Steele
Great build. Can you help newbees by completing with software load up, transmitter /receiver and goggles bind. Then a complete build so we are able to get in to the air. Really appreciate all your hard work.
Cheers
steele, did you read this?
Watched one of your build vids over a year ago and still stay pretty much to your setup, minus the Kiss stuff... and have had great results. I feel like that antenna situation is the best I’ve seen anyone come up with.
I love how you are working with manufacturers! So awesome!
everything is on order -- time to watch this 3 more times :)
Thank you for showing your antenna tube setup. 24:08 I love love LOVE that mod!
Can't wait to rebuild! Should be here this weekend!!!!!!
So glad this is here now! I can finally stop using the Matek PDBOSD now. Can't wait until payday!
Thanks Steele, you are a real inspiration.
What this humble little alien does not know yet is that he is in the hands of one of the best pilots in the world. Over the course if his lifetime he will travel the world with Steele, meeting amazing people every day in this hobby we call FPV :)
Calvin Baube
You forgot to mention the part where it gets turned into pulp
Shhhhhhh he doesn't know that yet
Yes men oh I'm learning so much bro thank u so much I watch other guys but they do not take their time to explain to us that are watching u guys well thank u again
Most hyped video this month
This is amazing. This is the cleanest build i have ever seen you sir have sierious skill! Keep up the great work!

PUMPED ON THE KITTY!!!! YEEEEAAAAHHH! Thanks Steele Davis for yet another great build!!!
Congrats on the frame and pdb , love alien frames, indestructable.
Doing a rebuild of my RR5. Had that frame since they came out. Got my pdb on the way along with some new ESCs. Going to be nice to have osd now.
just ordered everything for my first build. I am Excited!
I love how he took the effort to use the heat gun on twisting one then just twisted the other without, like a normal person
BigHead FPV I noticed that too. I think one was silicone wires and the other was not.
nah think he just forgot gotta admit they look nicer with the heat gun nice and tight xD
Can't wait until ImpulseRC ships my two Aliens plus an additional PDB for my current Alien. So stoked. Love the frame, the PDB looks like an awesome upgrade. Congrats Steele, well done!

Mr Steele Silk Motors used with Kiss 24A ESC's will rotate clockwise by default. The jumper is required on motors 2 and 4, that's the front right and the back left motors. Mkay?
There 2 awesome things here:
1. Awesome quad
2. Awesome work
Wow! So much more room for activities!
God Job Steele, nice clean working Build
Thanks for the build video Steele I am getting ready to start building that kit and I use this video to get her right .....
ugh, iv'e been fighting the urge to build an alien for a dedicated freestyle quad......this definitely makes it tougher for me. looking like a matter of when and not if. great video as always man.

I'm so jazzed for this PDB!

Nice video...one of your tiny whoop videos pushed me into the hobby! I love how open people are to share knowledge. Awesome vid like always Steele!
Great upload and build. Thanks for putting this together.
"...you have 2 females, and they just scissor and dont get anything done..." im dying lol 31:30
Phresh FPV me 2 i thought that people would complain but not that mutch

Phresh FPV

lol
hahahhahaha
Thanks Steele for this upload
Awesome video! I’m just getting into the hobby. So I’m learning a lot from you! Thanks!
Ol-Man-Duffy J Not that it matters. It's still not in stock.
ephektz : 😧 Hmmm... Wonder what the delay is. Steele? Educate us loyal followers?
The board is beautiful.
Just ordered your PDB from RR. Can't wait to try it out.
Great build video. Can’t wait to try this build. I like what you guys are doing at ethix and I am really looking forward to trying your formula!
nice build. i been eyeing this frame for a minute
Nice build video man. Even though I've built quite a few aliens I still watched the whole video. I started putting the black screws into the side of the camera case too. JRIP FPV where do I pick up the little wires for the esc’s? The telemetry wires.
First off , very detailed build. Thanks a bunch. Love the tips also. But like the other gentleman, I'd love to see the configuration set up.. never used kiss and that's why. I just don't know how . Always use betaflight. Thanks again for your videos and helping the community. Much appreciated.
MAN..... I Can Not Tell You How Much I Thoroughly Enjoyed Watching You Build Your Own Quad!!!!
It Is Very RARE For Someone To Have All Of Your Artistic Ability, Yet Be So Mechanically Inclined!!!!
It's Absolutely Fascinating to Be Frankly Honest With You!!!!
I Mean That Sincerely Steele.
GREAT JOB MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A+++++++++++++++++++++
Awesome. Was thinking just last night that the alien pdb could do with an update. Good timing.
Coolness , These components will take a lot of guesswork out of my build when I'm ready to start .
And particular attention to the building tips n tricks noted .
Nicely done Steele thumbs up
Been waiting for this for a very long time!!! Ordered mine tonight from the RotorRiot Store... Great build video too... thank you!!
Steele has an engineer's soul based on the level of thought on the mechanical stress
Hey thank you. I appreciate neat clean builds. I used to build guitar amps and I'm excited to possibly build one of these.
steele use runcam split its lighter will make you rip balls better- wide dynamic range- never have blow-outs on blacks and whites again- Give it a try you will not regret:)
if u have already tried it and dont like it- Im confused but accept it. 25g vs 110grams man (aslo more centers weight distribution for better ball rippage and floats
Grass is green
So is cabbage
The is no beating
This build is savage
Cool vintage quad build
Congrats on the new gear Steele! Have you considered a second cam for your close focus shots? The auto focus on most of the cams really sux for this application. Manual focus is best but really a nuisance for going from the wide shot to a close in detail shot. A second cam with a sweet spot will help. Just a friendly suggestion. Rotor On Steele!
Awesome video. Super clear. Cool tips. Thanks!
Cool! I've been waiting for a new build video.
Next is a kiss build, my first. Gonna include this. Nice one man great stuff🤘
Holy cow..Your music taste is so freakin good....
awesome antenna tube trick
For those who would like to change the OSD settings, please visit my rc-groups thread and wiki here:
www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2806289-KISS-OSD-Firmware-new-versions-posted-here
github.com/awolf78/KISS_OSD/wiki
Like Steele said, the default configuration of the OSD is very basic, however the firmware supports a lot more features which are simply dormant. You can simply download the release package from my github page posted below and flash the config tool which allows you to move the OSD items around and add/remove features.
github.com/awolf78/KISS_OSD/releases
A demo how to use the config tool is posted in the first post of my rc-groups thread above. Once you are happy with the way the OSD looks like you simply flash the original OSD firmware again and you are good to go.
Please take a special note that the menu, which allows PID tuning, filter manipulation, vTx control etc. is deactivated if you are using a KISS FC firmware before 1.2.
If you need any help: Please post in my rc-groups thread or open and issue on github.
With newer KISS FC firmwares there might be changes/additions to the OSD FW. I am trying to keep everything backwards compatible as much as possible, so you won't have to update if you do not need/want any of the new features in the upcoming KISS FC firmwares.
Big shout to Sean Blakemore and the ImpulseRC team for pulling this off, it has been a great honor to work with them!!! Special thanks to Fulvio and Elia for testing!!!
I was chatting to Steele about his Kiss OSD when we were in France. I had a feeling it would be your one that was behind it, great OSD.
Thanks for all the tips and extras in this vid - from Gainesville :)
it flys like every other quad Ive ever flown
Thank you for doing this, I learned a ton.
Killing me?! Mr. Steele you are great inspiration, great guide, I want to follow your advise to be consistent, pick a build that most info is provided for all over the internet, the one that i pick is your allien build BUT as long im looking at it as long parts are not AVAILABLE! Any hint on getting all so i can follow you movie and build it, learn all little details that make difference as you teach, BUT WHERE ARE THE PARTS!
I think this’ll be my next quad build
Oh man I really like the look of that pdb! Great job! Would love to see a generic one to fit on my kissed chameleon...
Very clean build! Thanks Steele! I ordered two ! It's easier than mounting the PNP ;)
This quad is like the 1970s Porsche 911 of freestyle drones. Classic.
Excellent, Thank You ! Very Much Appreciated !
Such a clean build, I need an Alien frame in my fleet!
May have to make one of these my first 5" build. Though may be overkill for someone still getting the hang of flying. Whoops, 2" micros, and naza based/sized builds only so far under my belt.
Loved this video Mr Steele! RTF flyers are one time flyers...
Your builds look awesome all the time! :)
Steele, going back to something you said awhile back, learn from someone who uses the same components and isn't switching shit around all the time chasing the hype, I love the fact your still stoked on the Alien, just wanted to point that out. and oh yeah.. Jason Hull . Get the Martian 2. It's the banggood copy that flies similar for like a quarter of the price. I fly it, check out some videos on my channel maybe. There's plenty in stock!
+Half Pint FPV stop plugging your channel and recommending shitty clones
Mr Steele your the man how ever you need to runx2 cam split its the shit 1080 60 fps latency is great.
Damn... Sick setup!!!
Damn, I think I would want to build after watching this... I want to get the new PDB for my alien and kiss fc.......
Could you please do a full in-depth build video with all V2 equipment on it. Film it up closer too please so we can see what wires and things like that, go. Thanks
Got my new alien 5’ I have no words 😶
MAIDEN TUNING ALL THAT GOOD STUFF NOW!
Awesome build.
Very interesting and I learned something.
Gnarly video Steele!
Dude! Thats a "Clean as Fook!" build. Rippingly Nice!!
Yes steeeele
R2D2 sound when you whissle ! :P Nice video steele! Great build tips!
It would still have the cut out in the back for the antenna.
perfect PDB
