Internet pornography has been my greatest weakness. I go long periods without it and I slip back. I repent but I stumble. I want to be free from this so badly. Though I feel that every time I ask for forgiveness, it feels disingenuous. Like I am taking God's mercy for granted. I am training myself not to think that way, though. I have put it into my heart that Jesus has already won this battle for me. I have put it in my heart that I am done with it. Every time I fall, I learn to dust myself and keep going. It is a helpful attitude, I think. I find Father Spyridon's advice to be helpful. ADHD causes me to be easily distracted but nothing is impossible with God. I know He is looking out for me.
Besides praying of course make it harder for you to fall back into it. Never lock your room or bathroom. Never take electronics into the bathroom. Set parental controls on yourself, when watching a movie if you know a sex scene is coming up be ready to fast forward or look away if not able to. If you catch yourself lusting pray for them instead.

I think the worst thing about pornography is the feeling of filthiness that comes after, the feeling on being unworthy, of hypocrisy. I've oftentimes found myself shying away from the things of the spiritual and the holy out of shame after a relapse. God is all that is good, that includes justice and fairness, he understands your struggles. That is the true goal of the trap of pornography, not simply the act viewing it itself, but to get you away from focusing on the lord, and instead looking at the storm. It's in those moments that we especially need to turn to him. We are all sinners, even if we were not addicted to porn, but whether that sin is lust, gluttony, or wrath, we are all called to get up, dust ourselves off, and try again. This is something the lord has put on my heart, get up, dust yourself off, and try again. We only lose when we stop fighting, when we stop running the race of endurance. Even if tomorrow you were utterly free of the temptation of porn, the fight is not over, there will be other battles to fight so seek mindfulness and spiritual wisdom from God so that you can fight all of them. Something I realize I am guilty of is getting caught up in the daily drudge that I forget to seek the lord first each day this needs to change, so I'm going to hit the bell icon for this channel so I don't forget. Prayers would be appreciated, since I am also still struggling with pornography myself. I hope my own rambling thoughts might be helpful, remember you were made in the image of God and no sin can steal his love, you are not beyond salvation, just try again, you cannot fail if you don't give up!
Yes I think altough it is very detrimental to view porn. That isnt the goal of the enemy Christ gan and will cover that when u get up again. But he wants us to distance ourselves from him in iur shame

Well said, brother. The story of Peter walking om the waves is always very helpfull for me. The moment he focuses on the waves beneath him, he sinks. The moment his focus is on Christ, he walks the waves and is not bothered by them. The moment we sink in our guild and self pity, we dont look at our Saviour reaching out for us. Every time we sink, He stands there on the waves reaching out to lift us up. As long as we live, He will forgive. And I believe that after all these moments of salvation from our "waves", our love for Christ grows. And through this love, which He cultivated in us, we will not sin again. Faith will ward of arrows of temptation, our hope in Him will guard our mind, His justice holds our armor together, but our love for Him will keep us standing in the spiritual warfare

As a 19 year old university student, lust is an extremely difficult enemy to conquer. All around me are all of these women who are so beautiful, and although I am a virgin still (thanks be to God) it is so tempting to try and hook up with someone. Stay strong brother. I fell under the influence of friends and classmates around me in high school and had sex not even out of love but for the idea of the animal satisfaction. There was no reward, only disgust, and the loss of vitality. With strong spiritual discipline and love for God there is always hope. You still have the opportunity to create a truly sacred bond with one woman, which is amazing, and untouchable to me, and so many others. Any creative endeavor can help quit porn, since we really do feel our energy move inwards, and upwards through the creative idea instead of downwards, and outwards, through ejaculation
Great comment. I want to take time off of the computer to learn language and playing an instrument. I think what is most important is being mindful of God in your heart, so there is no room for temptation to enter. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and God and believe that he died for your sins, then you will know that you will stand justified before God and forgiven for your sins. Christ paid for our sins with his death and resurrection, it is through his blood that cover us that we are able to stand before the father and be justified.

When I was 6 years old I stumbled upon pornography on the internet and that attachment grew into a very strong demonic presence over 15 years. I fell even further under the influence of evil when I began heavily using cannabis around 15, and had real sexual relations far too many times, but 2 months ago I vowed to fight the battle against the demons through and every hour I face temptations. I'm 21 now. The damage I've done to my soul brings tears to my eyes, but everyday my love for God grows. God alone can give us the iron will and discipline we need to fight the battle
And it's not even just about blatant pornographic content but pornography's effect on our culture, coloring every square inch of public life. Women wearing skin-tight revealing clothing to every public activity (from teens to middle-aged mothers), advertisements that use porn's aesthetics to push products on every age group. Deviant content housed inside "children's shows". I have been using the label of "porn world" to describe this moment of uncaged libido worship we all find ourselves in (at least in the West). Pornography's tendrils and enticements are everywhere I look, making it feel evermore pervasive and difficult to ignore.

My dad would read his "adult magazines" in the evenings and kept hundreds of them. They were very easily accessible and I accessed them - from the time that I was maybe 9 or 10 years old. Please understand that I don't intend to point a finger at my dad, here. I do, however, believe that taking that garbage into my mind and starting at such a young age defiled my brain and severely crippled me in how I have been able to view women and approach relationships for a lot of my life. I'm nearly 50 and have been divorced for over 15 years and I'm still battling to deprogram myself from that trash. I don't intend to give offense to anyone - I merely wanted to provide a real-life example of how damaging it can be

I am 1 year 4 months without using pornography, the advice I have is to be completely obedient to Christ and to not give the devil a single inch by taking every thought captive, "we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ". Confess your sins to your priest or a friend, because sin thrives through shame, and shame causes us to hide from God. And fast and prayer, pray for deliverance and learn to hate your sin, as you begin to love Christ

Giving these things up will help open up our eyes to God, and then transformation can happen, through prayer. I’m a Roman Catholic and find Father Spyridon 10-15 minute nuggets of wisdom, to be inspiring, calming, and an endless resource of very valuable spiritual knowledge. Keep up the great work, Father! Most men have battled the sin of lust. It’s an awfully tough sin to overcome. Only prayer and the grace of God can overcome it.
The biggest sin I struggle with. 10 years since I first discovered it now. 7 years since I tried to stop. It sounds ridiculous by now. And the bad effects arent only mentally by now. I can not allow myself to give in fully. As long as I fight against it there is hope. Lord I am weak, have mercy.

l found porn magazines when I was around 7 or 8 years old, and it hooked me instantly with intensity - it became a total obsession. I am 46 years old now, and the habit of pornography and self-abuse has dominated my entire life, effected every relationship I’ve had, and destroyed my creative ambition and discipline. I am now 3.5 months sober, in the Orthodox Church as a catechumen, and I meet with a father once a week for an hour to help me figure this whole thing out. The struggle is real, but Orthodoxy is giving me the way to fight - I have honestly never felt so much life in me. I may finally be able to become the man I was supposed to be. All glory to the Lord Jesus Christ! If Christ can change a guy like me, He can change anyone.

This is tough one that many of us young men have struggled with, myself included. As many of us burn with desire with no outlets. We as orthodox Christian’s along with the church must do a better job of pairing off our brethren. As our ancestors paired off their children with other orthodox folk in a timely manner. And not like today in the secular world of “dating.” I know it’s tough for those of us that live in a super minority orthodox country. However the church could do a better job at pairing off. One my former priests used to say it is a shame that young people don’t get married as much. So we must take action and use the modern tools that god has given us to network more. If more orthodox couples are together in holy matrimony this “corn” issue will fade away and not be so prominent among our brethren. God bless all of my orthodox brethren.
Its paradoxical to me that so many that suffer from this are also the product of broken homes. Perhaps what happens is that the loss of the marriage opens the child's eyes to the need for companionship, but not revealing that that hole they are trying to fill is actually there for god. Essentially divorce may be causing this problem.

I think the worst thing about pornography is the feeling of filthiness that comes after, the feeling on being unworthy, of hypocrisy. I've oftentimes found myself shying away from the things of the spiritual and the holy out of shame after a relapse. God is all that is good, that includes justice and fairness, he understands your struggles. That is the true goal of the trap of pornography, not simply the act viewing it itself, but to get you away from focusing on the lord, and instead looking at the storm.
It's in those moments that we especially need to turn to him. We are all sinners, even if we were not addicted to porn, but whether that sin is lust, gluttony, or wrath, we are all called to get up, dust ourselves off, and try again. This is something the lord has put on my heart, get up, dust yourself off, and try again. We only lose when we stop fighting, when we stop running the race of endurance.
Even if tomorrow you were utterly free of the temptation of porn, the fight is not over, there will be other battles to fight so seek mindfulness and spiritual wisdom from God so that you can fight all of them. Something I realize I am guilty of is getting caught up in the daily drudge that I forget to seek the lord first each day this needs to change, so I'm going to hit the bell icon for this channel so I don't forget. Prayers would be appreciated, since I am also still struggling with pornography myself.
I hope my own rambling thoughts might be helpful, remember you were made in the image of God and no sin can steal his love, you are not beyond salvation, just try again, you cannot fail if you don't give up!

Stay strong brother. I fell under the influence of friends and classmates around me in high school and had sex not even out of love but for the idea of the animal satisfaction. There was no reward, only disgust, and the loss of vitality. With strong spiritual discipline and love for God there is always hope. You still have the opportunity to create a truly sacred bond with one woman, which is amazing, and untouchable to me, and so many others.

I think what is most important is being mindful of God in your heart, so there is no room for temptation to enter. When I was 6 years old I stumbled upon pornography on the internet and that attachment grew into a very strong demonic presence over 15 years. I fell even further under the influence of evil when I began heavily using cannabis around 15, and had real sexual relations far too many times, but 2 months ago I vowed to fight the battle against the demons through and every hour I face temptations. I'm 21 now. The damage I've done to my soul brings tears to my eyes, but everyday my love for God grows. God alone can give us the iron will and discipline we need to fight the battle

I have been using the label of "porn world" to describe this moment of uncaged libido worship we all find ourselves in (at least in the West). Pornography's tendrils and enticements are everywhere I look, making it feel evermore pervasive and difficult to ignore.

I am 1 year 4 months without using pornography, the advice I have is to be completely obedient to Christ and to not give the devil a single inch by taking every thought captive, "we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ". Confess your sins to your priest or a friend, because sin thrives through shame, and shame causes us to hide from God. And fast and prayer, pray for deliverance and learn to hate your sin, as you begin to love Christ

Giving these things up will help open up our eyes to God, and then transformation can happen, through prayer. l found porn magazines when I was around 7 or 8 years old, and it hooked me instantly with intensity - it became a total obsession. I am 46 years old now, and the habit of pornography and self-abuse has dominated my entire life, effected every relationship I’ve had, and destroyed my creative ambition and discipline. I am now 3.5 months sober, in the Orthodox Church as a catechumen, and I meet with a father once a week for an hour
to help me figure this whole thing out. The struggle is real, but Orthodoxy is giving me the way to fight - I have honestly never felt so much life in me. I may finally be able to become the man I was supposed to be. All glory to the Lord Jesus Christ! If Christ can change a guy like me, He can change anyone.

This is tough one that many of us young men have struggled with, myself included. As many of us burn with desire with no outlets. We as orthodox Christian’s along with the church must do a better job of pairing off our brethren. As our ancestors paired off their children with other orthodox folk in a timely manner. And not like today in the secular world of “dating.” I know it’s tough for those of us that live in a super minority orthodox country. However the church could do a better job at pairing off. One my former priests used to say it is a shame that young people don’t get married as much. So we must take action and use the modern tools that god has given us to network more. If more orthodox couples are together in holy matrimony this “corn” issue will fade away and not be so prominent among our brethren. God bless all of my orthodox brethren.
Its paradoxical to me that so many that suffer from this are also the product of broken homes. Perhaps what happens is that the loss of the marriage opens the child's eyes to the need for companionship, but not revealing that that hole they are trying to fill is actually there for god. Essentially divorce may be causing this problem.

I'm turning 20 years old next month. As time goes by I realize how pornography is worthless. I wasted my time for pleasure. Just because lust drives me to sin I was lost in that cycle of sadness and I just felt that my soul is hurt and lost.
Brother you are going to be alright you are still very young and are attaining wisdom beyond your years. Don't fall victim to pornography again. It has been revealed to you that it is an attack on your spirit. I only wish I had that understanding at your age. I'm 35 now and I no longer suffer the temptation of pornography but the lust is still strong when I see beautiful women out in public and its really not much different than pornography, as Jesus said something like to look upon a woman with lust is to have already committed adultery in the heart, looks like we both have some work to do. Stay strong! 💪🏻
