Driving the Mountain Kingdom: Lesotho Road Trip (Part I)

- Welcome to the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho.
This small mountainous country is completely landlocked by the highlands of South Africa. The lowest point in the mountain kingdom is 4,500 feet above sea level. Although it is only a few hours from very modern Johannesburg, the kingdom takes you to an older Africa, before modern electricity and internet. Where shepherds still wander the hills for days, looking for greener pastures. Where there are more horses than cars. Where kids walk miles to school. And where a king still rules the land. Without much public infrastructure, I decided to rent a car to see as much of this unique country as possible. Here is the first part of my roadtrip around Lesotho.

Amazing views! The people, the land, the mountains, the reservoir! Amazing!! Most of the Africans over in Lesotho may have tattered clothes on, may not know English but hey, they are the most happiest, loving, joyful people on earth with a heartfelt smile from deep inside their souls. Most amazing people on earth 👏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Thank you for the video ❤

What a beautiful country to be from!
I just randomly did a search about Lesotho and found this channel. The images and photos are great. Keep it up dude. I loved it. As someone who watches a lot of travel vlogs, I have a suggestion. The music is too loud. Also, I'm not sure if music is needed. Natural sounds will be nicer to hear.
Thanks for the insightful comment! Yeah I’m new to this and trying to figure out how to fill in the in between a. Thanks for the tip on the music
The music was needed, what a great music he played ▶️ 👏
@@thandintulli278 would prefer natural sounds still

Really amazing 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!! Glad you loved it!
True that 😊
Lesotho...my home❤😂glad you enjoyed mate
Such a beautiful country!! Thanks for watching
34:44 What an amazing shot. The scenery is stunning, the light and how it hits the two guys is super cool, I love how their heads reach from the foreground into the background, and it’s a really cool detail that you can see that the guy on the left is walking. I might have cropped in from the upper right hand corner a little bit, just to get rid of some stuff on the right side, and to center the two guys a little more, but still: very cool photo.
Also I really like your grading. It’s on the more extreme side, being so desaturated and warm (kinda 2010 IMO :D), but very nicely done. And I guess the natural color palette in those mountains lends itself to that kind of look. Great work man!
Thank u mate I can't stop watching ths Lesotho is a nice please revisit again please
Glad you enjoyed it! It’s be awesome to go back!
Wow amazing and beautiful nature.
Thanks for watching!
that looks stunning great video my guy

The mountain peak is called Qiloane. Thaba Bosiu is a plateau.
This is ayoba 👌🏾man, but what you have seen or rather captured is just a drop in the ocea though, this country has a lot of epic landscapes.
Just wait for part 2!! There is more haha
@@thetravelingzam I just cant wait for it

Love seen people from different part of the world getting together 😊
Me too! One of my favorite parts of travel. Thanks for watching :)
Hello, I am Japie from Botswana.. my first time to across your channel.. I love it.. very real and down to earth.. I appreciate it.. I love Lesotho, Sesotho and setswana are basically the same.. it's nice and green there, which month did you travel to Lesotho?
Thank you so much!! I was there in about March or April of 2022
Wonderful ❤️❤️
Thank you! Cheers!
Good experiences😮
Thanks for watching!
You should open a business in Lesotho to help the economy grow ❤great reaction 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Maybe one day! I really loved it there
My homeland😍😍 Z can you tag me along on your next adventures in Africa oh and by the way rent a bigger car for Africa tours most countries don't have tire roads
Yes jump in my suitcase!
Breathtaking scenery and videography, this landscape is indeed stunning!! 🤩 thanks for sharing this experience, adding this to my ultimate destinations list for sure. I visited Seychelles while in the navy over 20 years ago and always wanted to possibly return but this place might even eclipse the Seychelles, which is a high bar!
My biggest concern with doing something like this would be the right hand drive. Was it a difficult transition to learn on the fly or do u need practice ?
My name is Chris and I’m In North Carolina, thanks again for showcasing this amazing country 👍👍
Seychelles is on my
List for this year! You pick up driving fast. It’s a bit weird first driving off the lot but find it easy to maneuver soon after
nice you were in my home country before you head to Lesotho
It was such a beautiful place!
Haeso Lesotho la bo ntata rona.....
🇱🇸
Hi @thetravelingzam - have you already uploaded part 2? I couldn't find it despite subscribing to your channel :(
I haven’t unfortunately. It’s in a back log in my archives. I will hopefully get to it at some point but focused on the current Asia trip
Wow just what is the altitude of these treks? It looks very high is there any breathing issues trekking up there.
wow
Thanks! Thats the same thing I said every turn in Lesotho
I see something so amazing on the video😂😂,the shepherd moves ahead/in front of his head/animals. Tell me Basothos how does that happen?cos here in SA we always follow from behind. What muthi are using for this?
I'm not 100% sure the reason for that. Unique observation though
Greetings from Morocco
Thanks for watching
Better than life in New York City
In some ways yea!!
Amazing , may I know is this which country ?
It is in Lesotho!
Hi sir, what season did you visit Lesotho and made this video?
I was there last March!
Just found your channel
Thanks for joining!
can we get part 2 please
Yes!! I am on assignments through July but will prioritize part 2 when I have my hard drives
When will part 2 be out?
Hopefully within a few months! I have been busy traveling and have a lot of content to edit! Make sure to subscribe!
It's time Lesotho becomes part of South Africa
Interesting
Nice videos u make. Loved your Kuwait video. Why don't u expand your wings to West Africa. Nigeria should be your next destination.❤
I hope to do a west africa trip soon!
@@thetravelingzam Thank you for the reply I would also like to mention about your Lesotho 🇱🇸 video, it was one most amazing, however I felt you did not upload the second part of your trip. I couldn't find it pls do see about that.
Best of luck for future endeavors. 👍
South Africa is the only country in the world that has another country in it (Lesotho)
Not entirely true. You also have San Marino in Italy
Ok I may have not noticed, good to know. But is there any country in the world that speaks 11 languages?
Yes, there are a lot of countries that speak more than 11 languages, ie Papua New Guinea that speaks 840 languages
Where is part II?
It still needs to be edited!! Takes a while to build such long videos
@@thetravelingzam Understandable, I cannot wait to see it, I enjoyed part I so much because I am from Lesotho but I have never travelled those parts of my home country and really enjoyed living vicariously through your trip
😂😂😂 that house that was blasting music usually that's where they sell alcohol in most parts Southern Africa people like to drink their alcohol with a lil bit of music and dancing, nice video though
Hah sounds fun! Thanks for the insight!
20 BUCKS A DAY? you mean R20 for a car ?
I don’t remember to be honest. This trip wa sa year and a half ago. $20 a day sounds about right
mountain kingdom... Hire a 4x4 next time lol
Oh yeah that would be so sweet and open so many opportunities there haha
@@thetravelingzam I am there right now. Love going there. Next time you planning to come Lesotho, South Africa or Botswana. Let's connect and see how to make it epic.
@danyvambili7029 I may be in South Africa in a few months. Let’s see
Please show us more of Lesotho I enjoyed it
Would be nicer with more scenery and less talk
Thanks! Check out my new stuff. Trying to ‘show more and talk less’
