Gladly. I guess for me some games just take time to ruminate, and I have to reframe my mindset to fully enjoy them. This one has gotten better and better. :)
Hope you're well. It's clearly fall now. :)

This is a good game. The player boards are all the same, which was my downfall. Leaders expansions fixes this. I would recommend downloading the free content from Czech games. It has a story mode and a more difficult deck for solo opponents. I had my fill over time and sold mine. It's definitely a game I would play if on the table, and/or recommend if you enjoy this style of game. On the flip side, I just put Blackout Hong Kong on the table. I do have concerns about this game but will definitely, at a minimum, play all the campaigns.
I agree that Dune Imperium is much better. Rise of Ix makes it much better. Dune is a keeper in my collection.
Hope all is well with you and the family. Enjoy the remainder of the summer weather at your cabin. Thanks for the overview! Oh, by the way, hockey starts in less than 1 month. Boy, how time flies by. Take care.

Yeah, without Leaders this one can get very same-y, I agree. Thanks for the tip on the free content, I'll check it out. Story modes great! I'm not bright enough for the difficulty increase to be compelling. HA. I'll look it over anyway, though.
How did Blackout: Hong Kong go? The campaigns were pretty simplistic, but I enjoyed the meat of the game more than I anticipated.
All is decent enough for me. Fall is definitely here now. Summer is sadly gone. But HOCKEY!!!!! Hockey is on the way, Kraken in the house!
      How are you doing?

Hi, What other games do you feel might provide a more adventure bush wacking inidana jones feel? Thanks for the thoughts.

Ack, I didn't see this and its been a month. Sorry to delay!
Darn good question. the super closest one of The Adventurers: The Temple of Chac. It's literally got boulders and bridges collapsing and lava, etc... it's not one you can play 10 times in a row, but it's certainly the closest to the feeling. It's like Clank! in that you want to be first to get out of the temple. It can collapse and kill stragglers.
REALLY love Fortune and Glory but It's chaotic and not entirely predictable. More of a meandering tale around the globe, but a good one.

I struggle with this game… After probably two years of it coming out, I finally bought a copy….
Because people were STILL talking about how great of a game it is…….
I didn’t buy it at first because I hate buying hyped games, and I couldn’t see anything compelling or fresh about the game-no new mechanics. (I am trying to be more responsible and resist the impulse to buy hot new releases).
I'm not saying every new game has to have new mechanics, but the super-hyped ones should have something fresh.
The game is sitting on my shelf of shame. I’m still struggling with the BGA version….. I generally click through the game until it’s done. I don’t see why this game is so popular.
Maybe I need to change my perspective… But it is a beautiful game.

I TOTALLY empathize. The years that I tried to like this game, coerced by my own bewilderment as to why I didn't.
Thing is, everything you've mentioned about it (not ground breaking, nothing real new or different, etc.) is true. That, and the real lack of Indy Jones tension.
For me, changing to a Curious George meandering mindset is what finally flipped the switch, but I still can empathize with the mindset that it's really, at its heart, a fairly typical worker placement. The BGA implementation is good, but I don't think it'd change people's minds either way. The leaders expansion is pretty essential, though. At least to have some variety.
Someday, someone's going to make a great jungle game with this luscious artwork but with some action and adventure. This is great for what it is (now. Three years ago, I'd have not said that. :) ). But yeah, totally understand.
