The value depends on whether RM is going to touch the watch or not after the bust-down. RMs are nuts though. I heard of a $20k+ service bill which included replacing a scratched carbon case.
Eric, awesome vid. I commented on this watch on your last vid. I believe it was this watch. It caught my eye immediately. It’s a stunner. I honestly don’t care for icy watches BUT in rare occasions I see one that blows me away! Like this watch. Keep it up Eric , and I’ll make sure to remember to “ watch my style” 😉
100% AGREE! RM is so dmn bold and garish that a bust-down version makes total sense aesthetically. It's already a watch that you put on to scream "I HAVE A WATCH." BTW- while I love the new high production value videos, you should do a "throwback" one with the old logo and you in that back room- those were still cool.
If resale value is a concern, there are less buyers for diamond watches so straight away, the resale value of an aftermarket diamond encrusted RM will be lower.
At this level of money , really I am not in a position to judge if it looks appealing or not , but for sure the hand craftsmanship is amazing . Well done on sharing unique pcs like these , always good to know how big can in fact gets bigger in your face.

When more people start taking their plane jane Rolex's or AP's and busting them down with ice, it means that the number of plane jane's (supply) decrease in the luxury watch market. Do you think that this indirectly takes "value away" from bust down watches because the plane jane's become harder to find, and hence go up in value over time (good return on investment)?
I would say if you like it you like it. If your keeping the watch to pass it down or something along those lines then yea put rocks on it and engrave it. But if your doing it thinking you’ll get more money for it. then I would say don’t wast your time and or money. You can put 20k rims on your car. The dealer is only going to pay market value not what you put in it. I would think the same goes for the watches.
I know Rolex hates those iced-out versions of their watches and might give you crap for those customized versions. What is Richard Mille's official way to deal with those special versions?
Nice, just wondering who is going to service the watch? In my experience over here in Asia the tops are custom set but the watch is put back to factory before it is sent out for service.
Im a watch purist collector. I do like to see watch customs adds though. Im not against since i like its aesthetics but i think i will never own a modified watch like that one unless RM has it avaiable as standard (rolex rose gold gem daytona as a might get in the future for me as an example) but then would not be a self custom modification. I really like the intro btw also that RM with a red or black strap instead would look better in my opinion.

Idk if busting a R M can be called “enhancing” the watch, since it not only ruins the water resistance, but severely decreases the value & makes it harder to resell. A more accurate analogy would be taking that Lamborghini, and getting cheap neon lights glued on it by some Mexican on El Cajon boulevard
TheWanderer anyone who knows anything about the jewelry industry knows that the high price of diamonds represents industry mark-up, not value. People who think diamonds are worth a lot, argue that the price is based on rarity, when in fact diamonds are not rare, the demand for them is what’s known in marketing as an “industry invention”, as is their high price. I’m glad I could clear this up for you
Isn't it true that some manufacturers won't service their watches once they have aftermarket enhancements? Leaving the the owner stuck finding some Joe-blow shop to service his expensive Rolex. That's where you ruin the value. This is why I understand manufacturers are offering diamond enhanced versions themselves, not only because it's trendy, but because the customers can have something "iced out" and still have it serviced by the manufacturer. I know for a fact there is a retailer here in town that offers far less of the watch's market value if it's been "bust down" or modified with non-OEM parts.
I like the fact that you can wear an RM and be completely unnoticed in most circumstances. But having a watch blinged out, especially a RM is not for me b/c it would just carry too much attention.
First let me say that Im not a fan of many richard mille models. I think the white strap along with the small diamonds on EVERY Piece of metal just make the watch look dainty. Although, I think it would look great on a wealthy woman.. on a man, not so much. Call me oldschool. Dont get me wrong i like diamonds, but on jewelry. I can add or remove jewelry. This way im not always wearing a super flashy diamond watch.
