Serious question. What was the story with a super hot Hull taking only 1 shot until 7 1/2 minutes left in the game? She, of course, hit 4 in a row after that.
This isn't just about bad coaching from Sides This is about these players not knowing how to play defense. They should know all of this before they graduate highschool. Coaching is horrible going all the way back to junior high school. There is a hot shot school that is supposed to be the shit and I have not witnessed a kid worth anything. Coaches have workouts at my gym and they don't teach them shit!!! Horrible offensive moves, not defense coaching Sports suck because they rely on being better athletes than knowing how to play.
I don't understand basketball plays very much and I am learning a lot from this channel. I watched this game and it seemed like the Lynx had open shots all the time. My thought after a while was do the Fever practice defense? It seemed to easy for them. Then I thought, it has to be coaching, they don't seem to be coached at all. This video proved to me that my instinct was correct. I get the head coach is incompetent but all the assistant coaches too? Does no one on the coaching staff understand defense? I don't get it.
They’re not covering closely. But it’s the refs discouraging them from defending the actual shot. My opinion. They allow battle ball up until the shot and then one flop gets a foul called!!!! Very discouraging to watch!
Incompetent people don't listen to others. They think they are right all the time. And if proven wrong, they say things like "oh I was just experimenting".
I'm starting to get silly and almost believe that the sides, dunn, the owner and the wnba are in a conspiracy and using Caitlin Clark to showcase some of the Teams in the wnba. The Theory behind this is....if these teams are good enough to stifle the Fever and CC then it must be a really good League to watch all the teams play not just the Fever. Honestly no Coach,Gm, And Owner can be this bad.

If it wasn't a terrible league you wouldn't have Clark likely breaking the all time assists/game record and Reese breaking the all time rebounds/game record. Brinks would have broken the all-time blocks record if she hadn't been injured. Clark probably would have broken the all-time point record if it wasn't for their diabolical schedule.
Thanks for the breakdown. It was good. It is kind of the reason why I wanted to rewatch the game. You could probably make two more for their pathetic offense if you haven't already. There was enough mistakes in just the 4th quarter to make a video of how not to play. :)
I watched just highlights for the past few months. Thinking CC was a generational talent. I then bought WNBA league pass and this was my first game. I screamed at the screen all night, seeing exactly what he saw. I learned this basic stuff when I was in 5th grade. I don’t think instinct and spatial awareness, and effort is coachable at 22+ years of age. These are not professionals. This is just sad. Is this a women thing? As in they do better at navigating with landmarks. And in this case it’s the ball? Honest question to those that watch the WNBA or women’s basketball. Is this normal?
A little overwrought bro. It's a young team, and there's going to be defensive break downs. Maybe look at how much better they've gotten over the year and enjoy the progress.
CC floats in the paint so she can grab the cheap rebounds. She has zero interest in guarding anyone. She constantly leaves her man so she can pad her rebound stats. And she doesn’t offer “help” D. She will get in the way no more than a planted tree. And she’s never gonna jam the screener. She wants no parts of jamming any screener. Lexi Hull is the only one playing any defense. This is not Coaching. This is a blatant lack of effort. 10 year olds know these basics. Lexi needs to take control of the D and direct traffic. Fever have a bunch of scorers that never played good D. Too many scorers and not enough D. Recipe for disaster. Lynx beat teams with the 3. Scrap the drop D and man up. Face guard. Rotate bench players to keep fresh legs on the floor. It’s just effort.

Because Sides is an ID10T and she doesnt know WTF she's doing. Hull,Boston,Smith,Clark, and Mitchell should ALWAYS be the starters, with Clark at the point constantly pushing the tempo.When they do that, nobody can keep up with them. WE'VE SEEN IT HAPPEN!!! Lexi Hull is a spark plug bench player. The problem with the Fever is obvious, they only have 3 legit starters. It's on the owner to spend the money and bring in more quality.

Regarding ownership, Indiana right now has proven they can compete with anyone. Sadly, the greatest defensive weapon against them is their own coach.

In fairness she had the primary assignment of Napheesa Collier, she is like the only plus defender in the starting lineup, because Sides refuses to start Lexie Hull or Temi Fagbenle. I guess I can understand not starting Temi, since this was her first game back from injury and shes probably still on a minutes restriction. My point is, I'm not going to be overly critical of Aliyah Boston, since she has a lot of bad defenders in the current starting lineup to make up for.
Love coach, cause he is fair. So many people either blame everything on the star, or nothing. He tells it as it is. Everyone gets his fair share! Clark had a very bad defensive game, same as Smith, Boston, Samuelson... so everyone gets his fair share of blame. Totally balanced, like everything should be.
Most post post games, CC admits that she doesn't play good defense, and whichever player is sitting next to her just snickers to herself, because everyone knows it's true. Reeves outcoached Sides and took advantage.

Wheeler and Grace and Hull should have been out there more. I would have benched CC. See what NcBride did? She face guarded CC so she could not get into rythm. She takes pride I her D. CC don’t give a damn and it’s all over film every game.

You beat the Lynx with defense not a disjointed half court offense with poor D. The Lynx attacked Clark all game when Lynx were on offense. She chose to stay in the paint and float around not guarding anyone. CC is a great playmaker but they have bench players that can add a spark. This team is not much different than last years team. They are slightly better offensively and worse defensively. They added CC who is a poor defender to an already poor defense. Every guard in the Fever are better defenders than CC.
Despite all this bad coaching, if Fever just made a few more of their missed shots, they could have won. It makes you wonder why the Lynx aren’t doing better as one of the top 2 teams in the league with the best coach and veteran players. Here’s the thing. No one is even critiquing the Lynx play because no one cares. The Fever have all this attention on them because of Clark. The WNBA is not the NBA. There is bad coaching like this all over the league, even with the best teams and best coaches. But let’s just pick on the Fever for some reason.

Not just Fever fans this is frustrating and aggravating definitely for the players on the court as well everyone is fed up. They had this in the bag if Boston wasnt playing a 3v1 hero in the paint, and the team wasnt missing open shots like its the missing festival, mostly the missing part (unless, somebody...maybe Sides, intentionally kept them, and even told some of them to not score..so Reeves wont get embarassed again at her own turf while Maya Moore was also being honored..hmm). Sides is doing this on purpouse..remember that this is the WictimNBA. CC is raising the bar and they dont want that..Why be a strong, fast, skilled athlete, put real work into your craft, lift, when u can be fat, play subpar bb, be a subpar coach (if u are one), complain about the wage and leech from the NBA.
That's what I thought they were within three in the 4th and I was like they're lucky they're even in this game the way they're playing, missing open shots, wild turnovers, dantas determination to hit a 3. They had no business even being in that game, should've been a blowout.

How can you say they're poorly coached on defense? Christie Sides is always saying we got to work on defense. Isn't she known as a defensive coach. Actually imo she's an offensive coach. I can't think of any coach who is more offensive to this team.
Saying we need to be better “defensively” is extremely different from actually setting these girls up and executing defensive schemes for them it’s like you get to still be a coach but not know the first thing about coaching a basketball team.

Stat padder. She will steal the rebound from her bigs almost every game. She will chase down loose balls that clank off the rim headed out of bounds cause if she gets it it’s a rebound. I can read her like a 10 cent novel. Amazing playmaker but she has major flaws and loves her stats. Watch the post gone pressers. She will rattle off stats. She will fill a stat sheet but doesn’t care about playing D. Body language is poor if she isn’t getting her numbers in a game they’re winning. She will be happy if she’s scoring and they’re losing. She likes to get the rebound bc she could start the break way easier/faster if she already has the ball in her hands rather than having to call for it or risk denial.
What I don't understand is Sides and Dunn have a proven track record of terrible management and Herb Simon still hasn't replaced them. I wonder what I am missing for it makes no sense.

CC knows how to play D. She chooses not to give effort. I like when the dude said “you’re putting Czc in a bad position. She either has to take the cutter or go out and guard her man so she takes the cutter and it heaves the shooter wide open.” No CC didn’t take the cutter. She didn’t move and she just happened to be near the cutter. She was never gonna go out and take the shooter even if the cutter was being guarded. CC is a floater. Floats in the pain cherry picking rebounds. I’m a CC fan but it’s so damn obvious. At Iowa they needed her to have her juice to run the show and stay out of foul trouble. She got away with playing poor D. In the W she needs to play D not Primadonna ball. It’s pure laziness. Lexi gets beat every game. It’s tough guarding elite scorers but she always gives effort. You will NEVER see Hull play defense like CC. You have to give effort. The players on the team feed off each other. The issue I have is the players will gaslight fans into thinking they need to improve. No you need effort way before anyone can see what needs improvement. Defense isn’t sexy. It’s hard. It’s not fun but the good teams all play good D. Fever are talented but they are front runners. They will take what comes easy and pass on the hard stuff. Sides is not an offensive genius but she has been preaching defense since day 1 and this team doesn’t care.

I was saying to anyone with ears that The Fever should have made some moves for defensive players before the trade deadline. But thinking about it; what good are defensive players when you have coach who cannot draw defensive plays?

She appears to be prancing around because she does not know If she should stick to her nonsensical post, or disobey her coach. Notice how her teammates seem to be "prancing around like Jerry Seinfeld" too? They've obviously been carrying out their coach's defensive scheme. If they weren't, she would have brought them all in and reamed them long ago...like any worthwhile coach would do. Awful coach was blasting the Defensive calls. He only named players so that the viewers knew what to watch. Again, it's all in the title of the video.
Hopefully in the off season they reach out to Cheryl Miller. Coach pointed out the lack of defensive coaching, but offensively, CC is doing it on talent. If she had pin downs, staggered screens, less ball handling responsibilities, some high pick and rolls with Boston, it would give her more room, and CC does not need a lot. Yeah, coaching change
@@zmanr2090 CC is more playmaker at this level more than scorer. Outside of her drives to the basket (which she is really efficient at) she doesn’t score that well. Mitchell is their best pure scorer and Boston and Smith can score. They don’t need more scoring. They need an offense that flows and unless they change the current style it will be CC handing the ball and they will be hit or miss on offense.
@@mikeronald3812 Mitchell is 11th in scoring Clark is 10th. While Mitchell can score, she is also a blackhole with the ball. They all can score if they move the ball around. It isn't anything against mitchell but she complement the other players very well.

When CC started making herself the floor general two weeks ago, everybody started clicking. Then Dunn crowned Sides as the golden Barbie. So what transpired after that? Did Sides command CC to submit to her? I am the omnipotent omniscient.? You will bow down and play my game? Or something like that. You could see it in CC's face during warm ups. You could see it right after the tip off. She wants to stay close to her family . . . to home. When the new TV deal forces all the teams to turn their players out into the free agency world and the salary cap is bumped up, CC will still be only half way through her 4 year contract. She must keep herself healthy and un injured. Un-injured ! With the thuggery going on in the league, that might prove doubtful. We watch the stats. Watch the free games on ION Fridays and most of you think gee I used to play. No, you will not be putting on a uniform and filling in. I was a member of my college marching band. Class at 08:00 till 15:00 then practice till 18:30 and literally run across campus to get dinner. Friday evening meet the bus for away game or a pro football game appearance in Houston. Sunday evening a bus back to Central Texas. Open a book on the sideline at the game to study - and on the ride back. And once a season it was a plane trip for a game. DON'T MISS THE FLIGHT ! I could go on for multiple paragraphs. You think the WNBA is easy, think again. But playing for a team (most of them) that the management has a severe case of ceberal rectitus . . . well, that is hell. Caitlin Clark amazed me with her aggressive defense in the All Star game. She must be tremendously unhappy playing with a mediocre team like the Fever. Nalyssa Smith looks the same way. Her play has deteriorated a lot lately. This video made the whole team look like zombies. How does something like that happen?
I will watch the all star game as I hope this is indeed the case. Multiple things can happen at the same time. I noticed the vibe was off and Sides was super nice (thinking some infighting occurred). But at the same time, piss poor effort by CC and the Fever on defense. Benching worthy and it MUST be addressed. The more people that start watching full games will see right through the hype. Get in a damn defensive stance Clark!!!!
If “we” think Sides must go, what are the players thinking? They know when a timeout needs to be called and isn’t. When there’s a lack of adjustments after the opposing team changes tactics. When non-complementary players are on the court etc. Am I alone thinking Dunn’s public announcement to keep Sides will harm the team’s performance? CC is 1/2 year into a 4-year contract there's already scuttlebutt about other teams trying to surreptitiously recruit CC. This would not occur if CC was happy in her situation. Word is out, there's a lot of unhappiness in the Fever locker room. The timing of NaLyssa Smiths' brother’s comments came soon after Dunn’s announcement. If Kelsey Mitchell decides to explore free agency because of Sides, this might be just the beginning. I’ve said, that you build a culture of stability, first by hiring the right personnel. This is opposed to the “Fevering” of an organization by hiring subpar and then sticking with them, whatever the long-term consequences.
I noticed this right off the bat that Boston was just flat footed not even Contesting drives from the outside to the bucket, and it just continued with no coaching intervention. I was so frustrated with the obvious that i turned the game off. Peewee league coaching.
You got me thinking - the team is still green and young enough, that reviewing, emphasizing and practicing the basics shouldn’t seem insulting or condescending… they need it now to avoid trying to correct it as they age and go on with their careers and by then it’s all rote muscle memory the WRONG way.
It amazes me how everytime the fever loses, all the players and coaches get the blame. Boston is slmost always the fall guy when many times her play is what keeps them in the game! Never CC fault🥴 On the other hand, when they win , all the praise goes to CC! If shooters shoot, please tell me why Clark only takes a few shots in the 4th? She does not need to be playing the whole game. The girl hardly gets 3 min rest. Sides needs to give her bench players some time. She clearly has favorites.

You could do the same analysis of all but 3 of the teams in the WNBA. They don't teach defense and to be honest, I don't think the coaches are experienced enough to really know what they lack as far as defensive coaching. Remember the pay levels for this as well. You can make more coaching at the higher levels of college. Direct opposite of the NBA.
Exactly what i was going to say! This is not just the fever, it is WNBA wide. They don't teach defense, don't emphasize defense, and the girls thus don't bother to put the effort in.

@@angiebaker3693 you do both as a defender. You use your peripheral vision so see both. Next time you watch a Fever game tape it and then go back and just watch Hull on D. That’s the way it’s supposed to be done. She knows what to do and it less talent than effort. Lexie is not an offensive machine. She’s limited but she also knows if she can’t offer good D there’s no place for her on any team so she plays D. Playing respectable D is much less about ability and more about effort.
For some reason those fast pace looking scrimmage videos the Fever present is supposed to make us think they are working on defense when actually it’s clearly apparent they don’t breakdown how they are playing in film. Hey Coach FedEx these videos to Dunn. Label them “From the Film Room.”
To the people who are insinuating that these responsibilities do not lie with the coach at all, these are mistakes that have happened before, it's the job of the coach to recognize them, point them out and work with the players to eliminate the bad habits from their repertoire. The coaches should continue to teach, continue to draw up plays and make the players understand how to act and respond... if they didn't why would anyone be paying for a coaching staff and letting them have those nice courtside seats? Y'all are just haters.
Lin Dunn tells fever fans Christie Sides is the reason the Fever are successful this season. The fever last year won 13 games. So far this season the Fever has won 13 games. The Fever need to win 5 more games to clinch a playoff spot. Can Christies Sides successful coaching get us there. There are 11 games remaining in this season.

Jr. high maybe even a top 5th grade team. NOT joking. Threes won’t matter if you don’t have basic fundamentals. The amount of mistakes alongside the lack of any semblance of defense, I’m surprised they lost by 10 and not 70.
Good to see a critique of fever play. A number of people have said the fever coach isn’t up to the task but not given examples. Also have said that CC is leaden footed - that’s shown here but probably because she doesn’t know what to do. Certainly not shown in attack. Looks like a team problem rather than individual. Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark not long out of college so need coaching about how to deal with teams that know how to attack? Maybe not getting that with fever? I know little about basketball and a lot of this was beyond me but very interesting. Does this show why CC for MVP is a bit unrealistic?
Even just on offense Caitlin is not the MVP. Yes she changes the entire offense with her passing ability, but she is just not quite MVP level as a scorer yet and her playmaking ability does lead to lots of turnovers. She is still one of the most impactful players in the league, just not one of the best like A'ja Wilson or Napheesa Collier.
Yes. It’s like she is losing 50% of her game. If more people knowledgeable of the sport start watching complete games and not just her offensive llaymaking highlights. Her stock will tank. It’s that bad
Or is it more that she could get away with it college but now it’s being exposed. In attack she has more control over what’s happening and only needs a couple of others to support her. In defence it depends more on the whole team and the experienced players will exploit any weaknesses (well unless they are trying to pad stats rather than win). Sure, she probably needs to develop but the team looks like it has problems which could be causing her indecisiveness. She’s worth it for the things she does well and crowd pulling / revenue power so don’t think her stock will tank. Just hope the gaps get filled in. This could be what Diana Taurasi was inartfully trying to say.
Clark needs to be responsible for her poor defense, too can’t just blame everything on coaching when you call her out repeatedly with “what is she doing? She’s doing nothing”
@@eyeofthehawkit’s blatantly obvious and I can’t fathom how it wasn’t / isn’t being addressed. My first full game watch for her and the WNBA. I can now see why she didn’t make the Olympic team and feel ripped off as I was a huge fan (she is indeed a playmaker, highlight real passing and shooting, but that is it).
The "brilliant" Reeve defense was having her smaller team give up a few defensive rebounds to fill the lanes that Clark uses to make her full court passes. Is there another coach that doesn't know how to address that sort of "defense?"

Good callouts here. For a defensive coach, they are definitely NOT well coached and still give up far too many easy, wide open shots. And yeah, they play SO soft on screens, it's just horrible coaching. You'd think Shaq was out there setting screens given how wide open the players were most of the game yesterday. Ugh.

It's the GM not the coaching. Sorry, Dunn needs to be fired so a replacement can come in and hire a competent coach. Dunn will NEVER fire Sides. Dunn thinks all the improvement is due to Sides and CC isn't important.
The fact that the WNBA is getting any coverage at all is a huge W for them. For years it was missed layup compilations. guess you still get that with Angel Reese highlights.
And the ESPN analysts tell new fans that they're too stupid to understand that there are a lot of players that are better than these rookies who will set all time records for rebounds per game, assists per game, blocks per game(after Cam comes back) and points per game(once they give the Fever a less than diabolical schedule).
Sadly Fever didn't seem to plan for this game or tried to stick with what worked last time they played the Lynx. Reeves is a much better coach than that. Linn Dunn and Sides need to be held accountable. But instead, they will blame the players.
I think Caitlin and Kelsey are coming together more, and more and if Boston gets on board consistently, the three of them could really be deadly. Dantas couldn't make a three, Sides can't coach reverts to old habits…the Fever get within one point, and Sides puts back the lineup that got blown out in the first to play the third....Sides supposedly is a defensive expert well not much coaching visible….Hull should have stayed in and more minutes, and if Smith is not doing well why wasn't she benched and Saxton given minutes and Tami hopefully we'll get better and then more minutes? It's unfortunately this is what you will see for 2 1/2 more years . dunn has come out and advised that she had/has a 4 year plan and that sides will be the coach for the 4 years This is year 1 1/2. So her and sides have 2 1/2 years to kill CC's career. I am no expert but I would say they are well on their way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although..... CC and the team will be experts at petting zoos, treasure hunts, baseball home run derbies, and whatever else sides dreams of.....JUST NOT BASKETBALL!!!! I don't understand basketball plays very much and I am learning a lot from this channel. I watched this game and it seemed like the Lynx had open shots all the time. My thought after a while was do the Fever practice defense? It seemed to easy for them. Then I thought, it has to be coaching, they don't seem to be coached at all. This video proved to me that my instinct was correct. I get the head coach is incompetent but all the assistant coaches too? Does no one on the coaching staff understand defense? I don't get it.
They’re not covering closely. But it’s the refs discouraging them from defending the actual shot. My opinion. They allow battle ball up until the shot and then one flop gets a foul called!!!! Very discouraging to watch!

If it wasn't a terrible league you wouldn't have Clark likely breaking the all time assists/game record and Reese breaking the all time rebounds/game record. Brinks would have broken the all-time blocks record if she hadn't been injured. Clark probably would have broken the all-time point record if it wasn't for their diabolical schedule.

I watched just highlights for the past few months. Thinking CC was a generational talent. I then bought WNBA league pass and this was my first game. I screamed at the screen all night, seeing exactly what he saw.
I learned this basic stuff when I was in 5th grade. I don’t think instinct and spatial awareness, and effort is coachable at 22+ years of age. These are not professionals. This is just sad.
Is this a women thing? As in they do better at navigating with landmarks. And in this case it’s the ball? Honest question to those that watch the WNBA or women’s basketball. Is this normal?

CC floats in the paint so she can grab the cheap rebounds. She has zero interest in guarding anyone. She constantly leaves her man so she can pad her rebound stats. And she doesn’t offer “help” D. She will get in the way no more than a planted tree. And she’s never gonna jam the screener. She wants no parts of jamming any screener. Lexi Hull is the only one playing any defense. This is not Coaching. This is a blatant lack of effort. 10 year olds know these basics. Lexi needs to take control of the D and direct traffic. Fever have a bunch of scorers that never played good D. Too many scorers and not enough D. Recipe for disaster. Lynx beat teams with the 3. Scrap the drop D and man up. Face guard. Rotate bench players to keep fresh legs on the floor. It’s just effort.

In fairness she had the primary assignment of Napheesa Collier, she is like the only plus defender in the starting lineup, because Sides refuses to start Lexie Hull or Temi Fagbenle. I guess I can understand not starting Temi, since this was her first game back from injury and shes probably still on a minutes restriction.
My point is, I'm not going to be overly critical of Aliyah Boston, since she has a lot of bad defenders in the current starting lineup to make up for.

She chose to stay in the paint and float around not guarding anyone. CC is a great playmaker but they have bench players that can add a spark. This team is not much different than last years team. They are slightly better offensively and worse defensively. They added CC who is a poor defender to an already poor defense. Every guard in the Fever are better defenders than CC.

I can read her like a 10 cent novel. Amazing playmaker but she has major flaws and loves her stats. Watch the post gone pressers. She will rattle off stats. She will fill a stat sheet but doesn’t care about playing D. Body language is poor if she isn’t getting her numbers in a game they’re winning. She will be happy if she’s scoring and they’re losing. She didn’t move and she just happened to be near the cutter. She was never gonna go out and take the shooter even if the cutter was being guarded. CC is a floater. Floats in the pain cherry picking rebounds. I’m a CC fan but it’s so damn obvious. At Iowa they needed her to have her juice to run the show and stay out of foul trouble. She got away with playing poor D. In the W she needs to play D not Primadonna ball. It’s pure laziness. Lexi gets beat every game. It’s tough guarding elite scorers but she always gives effort. You will NEVER see Hull play defense like CC. You have to give effort. The players on the team feed off each other. The issue I have is the players will gaslight fans into thinking they need to improve. No you need effort way before anyone can see what needs improvement. Defense isn’t sexy. It’s hard. It’s not fun but the good teams all play good D. Fever are talented but they are front runners. They will take what comes easy and pass on the hard stuff. Sides is not an offensive genius but she has been preaching defense since day 1 and this team doesn’t care.

Hopefully in the off season they reach out to Cheryl Miller. Coach pointed out the lack of defensive coaching, but offensively, CC is doing it on talent. If she had pin downs, staggered screens, less ball handling responsibilities, some high pick and rolls with Boston, it would give her more room, and CC does not need a lot. Yeah, coaching change

Mitchell is their best pure scorer and Boston and Smith can score. They don’t need more scoring. They need an offense that flows and unless they change the current style it will be CC handing the ball and they will be hit or miss on offense.

When CC started making herself the floor general two weeks ago, everybody started clicking. Then Dunn crowned Sides as the golden Barbie. So what transpired after that? Did Sides command CC to submit to her? I am the omnipotent omniscient.? You will bow down and play my game?
Or something like that. You could see it in CC's face during warm ups. You could see it right after the tip off.
She wants to stay close to her family . . . to home. When the new TV deal forces all the teams to turn their players out into the free agency world and the salary cap is bumped up, CC will still be only half way through her 4 year contract. She must keep herself healthy and un injured.

Caitlin Clark amazed me with her aggressive defense in the All Star game. She must be tremendously unhappy playing with a mediocre team like the Fever. Nalyssa Smith looks the same way. Her play has deteriorated a lot lately. This video made the whole team look like zombies. How does something like that happen?
I will watch the all star game as I hope this is indeed the case. Multiple things can happen at the same time. I noticed the vibe was off and Sides was super nice (thinking some infighting occurred). But at the same time, piss poor effort by CC and the Fever on defense. Benching worthy and it MUST be addressed. The more people that start watching full games will see right through the hype.

If “we” think Sides must go, what are the players thinking? They know when a timeout
needs to be called and isn’t. When there’s a lack of adjustments after the
opposing team changes tactics. When non-complementary players are on the court

CC is 1/2 year into a 4-year contract there's already scuttlebutt about other teams trying to surreptitiously recruit CC.

I noticed this right off the bat that Boston was just flat footed not even Contesting drives from the outside to the bucket, and it just continued with no coaching intervention. I was so frustrated with the obvious that i turned the game off. Peewee league coaching.
You got me thinking - the team is still green and young enough, that reviewing, emphasizing and practicing the basics shouldn’t seem insulting or condescending… they need it now to avoid trying to correct it as they age and go on with their careers and by then it’s all rote muscle memory the WRONG way.
It amazes me how everytime the fever loses, all the players and coaches get the blame. Boston is slmost always the fall guy when many times her play is what keeps them in the game! Never CC fault🥴 On the other hand, when they win , all the praise goes to CC! If shooters shoot, please tell me why Clark only takes a few shots in the 4th? She does not need to be playing the whole game. The girl hardly gets 3 min rest. Sides needs to give her bench players some time. She clearly has favorites.

You could do the same analysis of all but 3 of the teams in the WNBA. They don't teach defense and to be honest, I don't think the coaches are experienced enough to really know what they lack as far as defensive coaching. Remember the pay levels for this as well. You can make more coaching at the higher levels of college. Direct opposite of the NBA.

Exactly what i was going to say! This is not just the fever, it is WNBA wide. They don't teach defense, don't emphasize defense, and the girls thus don't bother to put the effort in.

That’s the way it’s supposed to be done. She knows what to do and it less talent than effort. Lexie is not an offensive machine. She’s limited but she also knows if she can’t offer good D there’s no place for her on any team so she plays D. Playing respectable D is much less about ability and more about effort.

To the people who are insinuating that these responsibilities do not lie with the coach at all, these are mistakes that have happened before, it's the job of the coach to recognize them, point them out and work with the players to eliminate the bad habits from their repertoire. The coaches should continue to teach, continue to draw up plays and make the players understand how to act and respond... if they didn't why would anyone be paying for a coaching staff and letting them have those nice courtside seats? Y'all are just haters.

A number of people have said the fever coach isn’t up to the task but not given examples.
Also have said that CC is leaden footed - that’s shown here but probably because she doesn’t know what to do. Certainly not shown in attack.

Even just on offense Caitlin is not the MVP. Yes she changes the entire offense with her passing ability, but she is just not quite MVP level as a scorer yet and her playmaking ability does lead to lots of turnovers. She is still one of the most impactful players in the league, just not one of the best like A'ja Wilson or Napheesa Collier.

In defence it depends more on the whole team and the experienced players will exploit any weaknesses (well unless they are trying to pad stats rather than win).
Sure, she probably needs to develop but the team looks like it has problems which could be causing her indecisiveness.
She’s worth it for the things she does well and crowd pulling / revenue power so don’t think her stock will tank.
Just hope the gaps get filled in.

The fact that the WNBA is getting any coverage at all is a huge W for them. For years it was missed layup compilations. guess you still get that with Angel Reese highlights.
And the ESPN analysts tell new fans that they're too stupid to understand that there are a lot of players that are better than these rookies who will set all time records for rebounds per game, assists per game, blocks per game(after Cam comes back) and points per game(once they give the Fever a less than diabolical schedule).

Sadly Fever didn't seem to plan for this game or tried to stick with what worked last time they played the Lynx. Reeves is a much better coach than that. Linn Dunn and Sides need to be held accountable. But instead, they will blame the players.
I think Caitlin and Kelsey are coming together more, and more and if Boston gets on board consistently, the three of them could really be deadly.
Dantas couldn't make a three, Sides can't coach reverts to old habits…the Fever get within one point, and Sides puts back the lineup that got blown out in the first to play the third....Sides supposedly is a defensive expert well not much coaching visible….Hull should have stayed in and more minutes, and if Smith is not doing well why wasn't she benched and Saxton given minutes and Tami hopefully we'll get better and then more minutes? It's unfortunately this is what you will see for 2 1/2 more years . dunn has come out and advised that she had/has a 4 year plan and that sides will be the coach for the 4 years This is year 1 1/2. So her and sides have 2 1/2 years to kill CC's career. I am no expert but I would say they are well on their way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although..... CC and the team will be experts at petting zoos, treasure hunts, baseball home run derbies, and whatever else sides dreams of.....JUST NOT BASKETBALL!!!!
