I’m a senior in the band that made jig 2 and made it super famous. It makes me happy to see what other people think of it. The only thing I wish our director did was copyright it....
your band is insane my man. I play quads at my high school and literally every other quads player I've ever met knows what jig 2 is and probably plays it at every football game.
Agree I was on 4th grade when I first play bass drum because our bass drummer will gradute. When I first Play it it was so heavy. Now Im going to middle school where there is another Marching band.
so in other words, there's another line on the music where it calls for "screaming high school students".... Yeah, I've never been a huge fan of jig 2 - now JIG 2 with all Chickens.... maybe that has potential...
I can’t help but notice those old traditional snares in the background... I would love to see a video on those one day from you! I am in a fife and drum corps and would love to see how you do on them
@@___Bruh__ yeah definitely. I'm just talking about the phrasing. There are 2 parts where it just stops and there is a tap off. I have never seen anything else where there is a tap off in the middle. It totally kills the flow
I'd just like to mention, if you look up "most hyped jig 2", the top result should be titled "Most Hyped JIG 2 at Pep Rally". It's by far the best version of this cadence I've heard, and it gives you a little more perspective of how it's supposed to be played. But be warned, the Tenors need tuned a bit.
Every band member that isnt a drumline member always asks for us to play this, and we recently just started saying no because of how tired of it we all are😂😂😂
This was the best I’ve ever heard this played and the least excited I’ve ever been by it. I don’t think people understand that school bands are just here for entertainment. Never got why people hated on more basic songs cuz they were easy. If the student section is hype, the performance was a success lol.
I play bass drum in pep band, but next year i get to do marching band. I'm probably going to stick with bass drum for marching (because i know the parts, so it will be easier to march if ik the parts) But I'm possibly switching to Tenor drums for pep band.
I am a Japanese student. I want to play this song. However, I do not understand the explanation in English well. I would appreciate it if you could write the main points together. Thank you!
See a ton of people in the drumline community hate this cadence but where I live it's a huge thing because, well I live not even 20 minutes from oak mountain and they are the ones that created it so yeah
I remember playing PB Boogie back in high school so many times and at so many retarded speeds that by the time my sophomore year hit, I was over it badly. Me (quints) and the other TD players (quads) demanded that we be allowed to craft and create our own new cadence to play. honestly all a cadence is is nothing more than the drummers just letting loose and letting the rhythm take over their bodies. There really is no major "challenge" to a cadence, they are just fun.
Another cadence from cadence Hell. So many groups play this and a lot of them play it badly. But the reaction is always the same. (Everyone screaming). I'll just keep my ear plugs in and pray they don't pop a head.
Hey Eric! Were you at TIA Finals? I was working with Egg Harbor Township HS this season, and got to say hi to JC before they went on. I've been subbed for a bit, and enjoyed all the weird, creative, and educational content you've put out! I hope I get to meet you someday through the circuit.
About 1:45 starting one over on the end, that's always been my exact solo start/combined start for DNK, otherwise I cannot catch proper pace (doesn't help that bass are never on one note and these newer kids now for whatever reason slow down on it partway through).
1:44 i was thinking, just start with your left so your left can move to drum 2 once you are on the 4 16th note, me as a lefty player I learned to play with my left so this part confused me because when I tried it on my pad it was super easy, and then i forgot so yeah
Wow, this cadence is _ooooold!_ I remember other schools playing this lame-ass cadence when _I_ was in marching band twenty-five years ago! I really liked our cadences. Our percussion director wrote several of them himself afaik. I've never heard the main ones anywhere else. Edit: Actually, listening to the entire thing all put together, I realize that way back then, the bands I heard playing this were actually playing a way cooler version with a lot more interesting bass drum part.
in my school it's a meme to play this on whatever we can. Whenever the BD leaves for a minute I play it on the timpani xD we might play this but the bass part would literally have to be quarter notes for them to be able to
I’m a senior in the band that made jig 2 and made it super famous. It makes me happy to see what other people think of it. The only thing I wish our director did was copyright it....
That’s really cool, it’s a cool cadence, i occasionally watch some videos on it lol
If it was copyrighted it would probably not be so popular
now you feel how the creator of amen break felt like lol
your band is insane my man. I play quads at my high school and literally every other quads player I've ever met knows what jig 2 is and probably plays it at every football game.
you went to oak mountain
I as the bass 2 player in my high school's marching band, would like to praise you for pointing out the struggles of bass 2. Nobody understands...
Yea the bass I have to carry is over 30 pounds
JayJayJelly you are 9 years old go back to your channel you poised blue devils comments not Eric’s now
WolfPack Alpha2025 factss
I understand
Agree I was on 4th grade when I first play bass drum because our bass drummer will gradute. When I first Play it it was so heavy. Now Im going to middle school where there is another Marching band.
How could you not like this guy? He's a 'drummer', he's a 'Marine', and he makes entertaining videos!
This guy played the cadence better alone than most high schools
And he has been doing this since 4th grade and he’s like 25 and by himself going under tempo with screaming high school students
Hes also an accomplished professional percussionist.
Obviously you're comparing a grown man who does this for a living to teens with barely any experience 💀
Well I mean and he’s also been playing for a very long time and most high school students have little experience with tenor
so in other words, there's another line on the music where it calls for "screaming high school students".... Yeah, I've never been a huge fan of jig 2 - now JIG 2 with all Chickens.... maybe that has potential...
James Thatcher THIS IS FACTS😂
I can’t help but notice those old traditional snares in the background... I would love to see a video on those one day from you! I am in a fife and drum corps and would love to see how you do on them
Finally now I can listen to jig 2 played cleanly
You should break down Double beet. The one scv played in 2004
The counselors for our drum camp played this it is AWESOME
Totally!
That’s a warm up for our snare line lol
Double beat 9000
Double beat 9000 is better in my opinion
This guy needs more credit. Do you know how hard it is to record something and have it all in time? Even with a metronome it's hard. Good job EMC!
There is some magical force called editing
can hear a trombone doing scales in the backgound
This is over hyped by non drummers. All drummers recognize how little flow the cadence actually has 😂
Yeah but it’s still really hard to play the sixtuplets around the drums. Especially the 3-4 ones
@@___Bruh__ yeah definitely. I'm just talking about the phrasing. There are 2 parts where it just stops and there is a tap off. I have never seen anything else where there is a tap off in the middle. It totally kills the flow

Wahmen boi
@@duhdx1 It's a great day to be a Wahmen

I’m on bass currently and I want to be on tenors later on so this is a great lesson
Did you make it?
How did it go?
i just finished my senior year on tenors for 2 years and became section leader so i’d say it all worked out eventually
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Your edits are too funny. I love your content and appreciate all the time you put in!
I was waiting for chicken jig 2 for eternity. Thank you for completing my life.
I've watched this video more than once, thank you for uploading ❤️
Every band member that isnt a drumline member always asks for us to play this, and we recently just started saying no because of how tired of it we all are😂😂😂
Why am i watching this i play trombone
Edit: this is the most likes ive ever gotten, thanks!
Same bro
Same lmfao I play alto sax
Quinlan Hall I mean there’s a person playing trombone in the background
Same trombone gang lmao
why am i watching this i’m in choir
Now Eric will be interweb famous
Cleanest jig 2 I've ever heard, well done!
I learned this song and we played it for my highschool and I've never regretted something so much
This dude is a tank...I have absolutely no idea why this came up, but I’m liking this guy
Something about your shirt doesnt add up.....
drummers don't know sports or the balls needed for each sport
Good morning, I'm curious to know about all the do's and don't's of writing for drumline.
Following
Do. Write unique interesting features. Don't. Write Jig 2
"I play in time because I only know how to play in time" XD
Life goals
It's amazing how he can read the notes once and then play it perfectly first time
Man I love the emphasis on technique. Especially with the wrists not bending when going to the outer drums. Thank you for that
Thanks bro this helped teached my fellow drummers takes a lot off of the Drum Major
Next you gotta do the "Best Drumline Video Ever!" or the Bloocoats "Flam Jam" that everyone only watches the first 2 mins of.
When he says: good morning
But it’s actually the afternoon
Many drum corps say that regardless of the actual time. but yeah, confusing.
As a trumpet player, this information is very helpful to me
14:13 in case of any future reference
Bro your cadence has the exact same amount of drums my school has!! Thank you I am showing this to my teacher!
This was the best I’ve ever heard this played and the least excited I’ve ever been by it. I don’t think people understand that school bands are just here for entertainment. Never got why people hated on more basic songs cuz they were easy. If the student section is hype, the performance was a success lol.
This cadence has a couple grooves mixed in that we used to have mixed into other cadences. Pretty cool.
Jig 2 is over played, but still extremely exciting. It always gets the crowd going.
I got two different hearing aid ads on this video
Which one did you buy ????
laverdadesmejor all of them 😂
Might be trying to tell you something
dude how
The title of this video should've been renamed to "Jig 2 but it's actually good/clean"
I really thought I was the shit when I played this and then my coach gave my our field show music for tenor and I realized what I child I was
The only thing funnier than how much of a meme this cadence is, is the fact Eric made an almost 20 minute long video breaking it down
This is smoothest I’ve heard this cadence 💯
I like how bass 4 is causing the camera to shake, messing up the illusion of cloned players.
Only EMC can play Jig 2 and actually make it sound good
I’d love to hear you do Electric Wheelchair.
ah , nice to hear a CLEAN version of this 😅😅😅 awesome vid
EMC Jig 2 starts at 14:14

As a non-percussionist I never realized there were so many cymbal notes
The most elegant way to fix the beginning part with the pushes: Start on the left hand and stick it as triple paradiddles.
this is kool i am a snare drumer you teach me a lot man thanks
I’m in pit and I play along with the Mary had a Little Lamb part and that’s the reason I like it
as a non-percussionist, I kinda wanna play the tenor part
I love the horn player in the background
Thank you I have been trying to learn this for 5 years
As being from the school who made that video I approve of this
You don't have 14 million views yet, you only have 14k, you'll get there
Best background music ever
One of the videos shown at the beginning, specifically this second one, is my friends high school drum line, Oak Mountain HS, he plays quads there
YOOOOO
I thought that was Highland when I saw Tartans! I went to Winslow! Crazy.
Alright I now gonna watch this over and over until he hits 1mil
I am a Japanese student.
I want to play this song.
However, I do not understand the explanation in English well.
I would appreciate it if you could write the main points together.

Hi
“I’m gonna play them in time because-you know... I don’t know how to not play in time” *I busted out laughing when I heard this*
Can we get a version of the bass feature without the screaming high schoolers
The highschoolers is the most important part. What do you mean?!?
Jason Zurlo in his how to make the drum line clone he does it
probably in the ultimate cadence comp.
See a ton of people in the drumline community hate this cadence but where I live it's a huge thing because, well I live not even 20 minutes from oak mountain and they are the ones that created it so yeah
afreis04 Oak Mountain High School....the birthplace of Jig 2. First on TH-cam in 2011 nine years and going.
Can you do double beat 9000???
This helps my drum kit pl as playing more then kit videos.
I remember playing PB Boogie back in high school so many times and at so many retarded speeds that by the time my sophomore year hit, I was over it badly. Wow amazing drum
I’m struggling with ‘8 on a hand’ Eric so I was wondering if you could break that down please. That’s the only thing keeping me from DCI
That trombone in the other room really set the vibe throughout the video
Ilove your tenor drum stick😍😍😍
Go for the trombone solo!,the guy in the background -fellow Bass trombone player
Do "Spicy Coconuts" plsss
yeah. Do Spicy Coconuts
Good morning!

I’m a low brass player. Never touched a quad. Why am I here? Because it’s satisfying af
Same here brother.
3:41 When he said no it kind of scared me because the inflection was exactly like my violin teacher when I play something in a way he doesn't like lol
do you have anything at "row row row your boat tempo"?
15:16 I died at the cheering
*I thought I had been clickbaited, but at **15:41** I was satisfied.*
Lol, didn’t even notice it
His shirt is amazing.
Bruh I have known jig 2 for so long I can’t believe I haven’t found this till now
1:44 i was thinking, just start with your left so your left can move to drum 2 once you are on the 4 16th note, me as a lefty player I learned to play with my left so this part confused me because when I tried it on my pad it was super easy, and then i forgot so yeah
i like how the biggest bass drum always shakes the camera when it plays

It's real weird seeing my old high school on your channel.
