Exactly. Everyone went their own ways after Mom passed in 2014. Its been just my dog and I everyday since. No birthdays, holidays, going places unless finding a ride. Most days are at home. Always enjoy and appreciate videos such as this. Things were much better, people were happier years ago. Nice video.

The thing I like most about time is that it is not real. Its all in the head. There is not A such thing as the past, its only in the memory. There is no such thing as the future, it exists only in our imagination. If our watches were truly accurate the only thing they would ever say is NOW

This home has a lot of sad energy in it. The old fella had the kids pictures on the TV but there must have been a rift in the family and no one cared to take on any final wishes or assistance. Thank you for exploring and sharing :)

When I see this I think this is probably the fate for most of us. All the stuff we buy and collect in our life ends up being someone else's clean up job, or in this case nobody can be bothered.

This was a great find! I agree, this type of abandoned place is the best. It's sad seeing remnants of a life that once was, and sad that he didn't seem to have anyone left who cared about him or his things. It's always fascinating to see someone's place just how they left it (minus the decay, of course).

The red "Shoe Shine" box at 15:40 is a classic that brings back memories. My parents had the exact same box, and I grew up having this box as a daily fixture. My dad is now 86 but he still has this red shoe shine box. What an incredible flash-back!

Most of the stuff has mold spores on it,animal feces, some will probably be auctioned off,the more valuable items like curio cabinets,or similar, but most everyday stuff that is all over and possibly a health hazard ,will hit the landfill!

    • @ginnykilpatrick
      @ginnykilpatrick ปีที่แล้ว +2

Here in the US, sometimes after someone dies, or buys a piece of property like this with a lot of belongings left behind, the new owner will bring in an auction company that will walk around and make an assessment value on the things they think they can sell, and will give the owner cash money for those things, then take them and sell them. Sounds a little cold, but at least the nicest things go to someone who wants them.

I gotta ask Brent... How about a short video about the strangest things (or feelings) you ever had while exploring an abandoned place?
In my younger days myself and a good friend would do the same thing as you but we had no recording equipment. It was too expensive. Late 80's and early 90's. There was one place we tramped through at least a dozen times until something happened and we never went back.

Another great find! Back in around 2004 I went to go check out a house for rent on a pond. I had a friend with me. While looking for it we went into what I thought was it when in fact it was abandoned. The floors were sunk in, a monopoly game was set up and the craziest thing was an old phone ☎️ started ringing! We got spooked and ran out! I regret not answering it.

The phone was probably just connected but won’t actually work as there is no account attached. This is how landlines used to work. There would be that odd hum indicating connection to the exchange but not a dial tone until a new account is set up. Those old copper line systems did not rely on electricity at the property to work. Unlike the modern digital cr@p we are stuck with in cities. Makes me think the property is very rural!

I have to think in some cases that maybe the death of the loved one in the home was so hard, that they just can’t stand to return as the memories are to painful. I also understand that remaining family might live to far away and is just not able to take care of the property. I know getting information on these homes is hard, but I’d love to know more about the last families to occupy these homes and why they left? Keep up the videos, they are always interesting.

Seeing places frozen in time is sad and it's sad to see people that demolish and destroy old places like time capsules. That place was definitely built in the early 1900s, the house has lots of old light fixtures, light switches and outlets and also all the cool antiques. I really like that barn, for being as old as it is, its in really good shape! That cart with the two wheels looked like it's a cart that's hooked and pulled behind a horse. If it were up to me, all abandoned places would be left alone or if messed with, save, preserve, and keep the antiques and valuable stuff and I would rebuild and preserve the abandoned structures from being lost forever.

This house still has secrets. So many children things thruout the house as tho they had lived there. Yet not enough bedrooms for that. I agree. I think the last inhabitant was a man. Another mystery…with so many pics of young people in the house clearly there were family members that lived after the loss of their loved one. So why not take things they wanted or move into house? Another mystery is an empty fridge. WHO emptied it?
I enjoyed this time capsule. I think it is a sad house tho. The barn appears to be even older than the house. That “bike” was sweet too.

And then, putting the receiver up to your microphone!
    That was fun !
Thanks for doing what you do !

Love your videos, your passion really shines through. It’s hard to believe that the barn is in such good shape. Would be an awesome project

Whoa. I’m so glad TH-cam recommended this video to me. I’ve done this as long as I can remember in my life. I’ve never thought to film it though. Just to take pictures. This is amazing.

I think this is a nice tribute to the forgotten man that once lived here.

I agree with you about houses like this being the most interesting. When there's a lot of stuff left behind you get a look into what the person or peoples lives were like, for instance we know he was a fisherman and a hunter and probably rode a Gold Wing for awhile. By the pictures on the TV, the Xbox and some other kids age things around he was a grandpa, if he did die the family probably wouldn't or couldn't come up with $25,000 to pay the back taxes. Another enjoyable video as usual Brent.

I'd have a hard time leaving all of the cool collectibles behind, being the collector that I am. I want the Arnold the Pig from Green Acres. At one time it would have been a perfect small house for one or two people. The barn was nice too. Thanks Brent!

What makes you believe they were left behind. Toward the end I got the impression it doesn't.

Love the barn. Quality build you don’t see much today. Built solid to last, lots of elbow grease and sweat equity.

11:49 - Is that clock WIRED!? I don't think I've ever seen a wired wall clock. I think the only plug in clock I've seen are digital alarm clocks.
17:40 - That cup in the corner of the medicine cabinet? Pretty sure my family had the exact same when was little! Except ours were way more worn out looking.
Also, thank you for pointing out the construction of the barn - that was ridiculously fascinating. The cow skull! I wonder how and why the animal just died there and its remains were left - if that's the case. Because obviously animals were kept there at some point.
These houses are heartbreaking - the actual remnants of someone's existence, their final years, months and days. Time capsule houses kill me but they're my favourite.
You're right about the amount of antiques in this house - what a gem!
So cool. Good find! Thank you for sharing.
