One of the greatest moments in Australian Cricketing history. Steve Waugh was the best captain Australia ever had, he was a cold hearted tactician who was a genius. One of the greatest centuries ever made, a true captain's knock. An inspiration to all Australian's and cricketers across the world.
@@Key_highway Wrong Chappell. The underarm incident was Greg Chappell leaning on younger brother, Trevor. Ian Chappell is the older brother, who captained Australia earlier in the 70s. Ian inherited a similar situation to Border, taking over a ramshackle, easy-beat team from Bill Lawry and turning it into a steal powerhouse. If you watch the underarm incident, you'll see Ian Chappell's right-hand man, Rod Marsh, trying to discourage Greg Chappell from sinking to the underarm delivery. There is absolutely no way Ian Chappell would've miscounted the overs to have the wrong bowler delivering the last over, and there is no way, given the same circumstances, that Ian Chappell would've ordered the underarm bowl. Ian Chappell was also responsible for standing up to the Aust Cricket Board - especially Bradman - to get better pay and travel conditions for the players. A lot of players from the era rank Ian Chappell the best captain ever. I am pretty sure it was Ian Chappell's attitude that inspired Alan Border and Steve Waugh. Like you, I don't rank Greg Chappell as a captain at all, even without the underarm incident.
@@MuhammadFaisal-gz3bu in my lifetime Alan boarder and Michael Clarke. There was an innings in South Africa where Australia was getting skittled by Steyn in particular. Clarke was out of form, unpopular in Australia. Then he went into bat. I remember him getting hit by the ball 5-6 times while struggling to make contact. But he touched it out to 20 then worked to 50 and then dominated to 100+ . It was eerily similar to Steve waugh in 95 at the windies.
Steve.......thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing those "few minutes of what it means to play for Australia". Now, more than ever, surrounded by bushfires that do not bode well for us on Sunday/Monday, we need that spirit. I came home yesterday after 3 days evacuation and the first thing I did was hook up my computer and watch this great video. You, and cricket, gave me a lot. Thank you so much, champion.

Ian Chappell was my hero in1979 when I played under 8's and Steve Waugh was my hero after until I was forced to stop after an accident at work in 1989 till I retired. I remember how hard he did it from 1985 and he was toughened up during that time under Allen Border. Steve Waugh was a warrior . Don't ever forget that.

Rip to an era of cricket that will always be the best!
My favourite moment in cricket. I still remember where I was when this happened. I was 13 and we was forced to leave the comfort of the couch to go to a family BBQ at the beach. I didn’t leave Dads car the entire time, blasting ABC grandstand radio. When he hit that four on the last ball I lost the plot. Absolute legend of the game. The ice man!
These CATV videos are excellent. S.Waugh has is my favourite Australian Captain in the 45 odd years I’ve been watching test cricket. That 1000 yard stare of his would freeze magma.
Steve Waugh was a brilliant cricketer and captain. One thing I did notice in this video is that every English player made a point to shake his hand as they walked off the field, well played poms.
He isn't just an Icon or Legend of the game...the integrity of his cricketing mind & the aura of his sheer brilliance & the determination that he had as a person made him an exceptional Leader who inspired a whole generation to love the game even more & even today cricketers are bound to bow down their head out of respect infront of this man. #respect #love
Australian cricketers are such an inspiration. Unmatched professionalism, yet so much emotion in the game. Hard to keep the balance but they always seem to do the perfect thing. They never let go of their professionalism but still manage to do nice gestures.
Whay i remember most from this day was them crossing live to the daily presser during the news bulletin and seeing the look in his eyes - VINDICATION. Always stayed with me and i'd die for this man.
Hussain's admissions of intent and desire are extraordinary - for the sheer ruthlessness and the bare honesty. Well said. But, I was at the SCG that day and felt (from the fence!) England's want to crush Waugh at all costs..... Mr Waugh gave the best and ONLY counter.
I am an Indian and loved the cricket the aussies used to play during that era. That aussie team was some 20 years ahead of all the other teams of that time. Only Sachin and Lara belonged to their league of cricket. Sachin was bigger genius though but completely a different debate. :p

Steve Waugh was our best captain. Steve Smith is currently the best batsmen in test cricket. Steve and Steve. Coincidence? I think not **x files music plays**
Truly his farewell to Aust cricket, even if he played on a little longer - vs our one true rival/foe in the sport, last ball of the day, the classic stroke of the game, nothing will ever compare.
I like him most among all cricketers . He was so cool . I never saw showing any emotion or excitement whenever a wicket fell no matter how important it was. I really wish Virat Kohli was like Steve. He would go miles as Indian captain.

Such a great moment of sportsmanship from Gilchrist giving up his score to set Waugh up for the last ball, and the opposing players running up to shake his hand. Respect for your colleague and opposing player at its best! Beautiful and great humanity…
Was there that day at the SCG by accident. Tried to get tickets to day 1 or 2 but both were sold our so settled for day 3. I was running up and down in front of the SCG hill setting off mexican waves with the fans, but will never forget the roar of the crowd when steve stroked the final ball of the day through the covers - it was deafening - and didn't we give it to the Barmy Army. I also remember joining the throng of spectators marching from the ground to the bars around Moore Park singing "Steve Waugh, Steve Waugh, Steve Waugh, Steve Waugh" to the tune of old lang sine. Good times. And I haven't been to a test match since - like how can you top that?
ah the memories, watching Steve Waugh scoring that amazing century all the way from Adelaide, was an epic moment. best part is, it was against England, while it is nice to win against all the other teams, there is no other team I love seeing our team win against.
