Hmong music will never dare to be like this again. Only a select few amongst the crowd will truly appreciate this art.

Wow. Truly amazing and talented! Too bad we don't produce great music like this anymore.

I know, right... I remember in these days, you couldn't produce a single song unless you were able to play an instrument. So albums were essentially left up to the real musicians. The sad thing about today is, we are so far in in technological advances that people can just run to the music store and buy a $1k keyboard and/or spend a few hundred dollars and pick up a decent software and start recording right in their homes. (hence, look at all these TH-camrs self posting their singings, etc.) The convenience of this, I think, had forced a lot of people to get lazy and they start choosing the easy route. That's why today there are literally hundreds of thousands of so called, hmong "bands" out there....but no one can really play anything. Thousands of "artists" come out each year but no concerts!! What?!! Then you have all these "boy bands" and so called, "groups" but you only see them singing karaokes during the holidays, etc. Then there are a few, who actually have a band but can't even hold enough chords to save their lives. Don't get me wrong...there are a few individuals out there, who have excelled far beyond these guys, "Deeg," but they don't really go out and show their skills. :(

I couldn't agree more with you. Everything you said is pretty much spot on. I actually grew up in that era where music was actually made through the knowledge of picking up an instrument. Infact, I was one of those person back in those days. Growing up in the mid 90's into the early 2000's, playing music was my way of staying out of trouble and a way to express my feelings. With today's technology, it seems to be easier for a person to create something on a software and "POOF", there goes his/her music. There's alot of great talent out there as far as singing goes, but I would love to see a full band again. (Not that there isn't any out there). I guess I just missed those concert days. Or times when I used to go to concert and perform with my band. God do I miss those days and would love to find a band to play with again.

Honestly Zax Moua brought Deeg to a new level. The New Deeg is not comparable.

i am not sure about you just said. to be honest, i dont want to hurt any fans or or artist, but as a fact I know all of them, DEEG AND MOSHLUB. But to make it simple, Zax only play better when he played for Deeg (2). Before and after, it was pretty much crap and copy cat imo.. never fit in anywhere, jump from Moshlub to Deeg, to Yaka, to 4seal, nco, ect.. then back to Moshlub, then to Zax single, AND DIDNT MAKE THE CUT with Deeg 2017, then to nothing right now...heard he is coming back after he saw Deeg perform at HMF 2017..just my observation and following them since 1986.
People used to say that Deeg in 86 was better than Deeg 96..and in couple years, they gonna say that Deeg 2017 is better than..DONT MATTER, THEY STILL ROCK.... DEEG IS a true rock and original band. lets just enjoy our Hmong Metal bands regardless how good or bad.. peace and love to all THE FANS AND TO ALL THE hMONG mETAL

Za was best with Deeg... But Deeg was also best with Za. The Deeg album with Za was their best album. By far. I would say both benefited from each other.
This new Deeg album is different, but not the same. That's all I'll say.

    • @chrislor3665

metalbandsrule, DEEG HAS ALWAYS BEEN GREAT. FROM THE MIS LEEJMUAM, DISSAPEAR AND TODAY'S DABTEB ALBUM, DEEG IS GREAT AND CONTINUE TO BE BETTER. MUSICALLY, DEEG CONTINUE TO SURPASS itself AND SETTING NEW BAR. ZA WAS AT THE RIGHT TIME AND MOMENT AND BENEFITED FROM DEEG. DEEG IS SIMPLY DEEG. PEOPLE REALLY STARTED TO NOTICE ZA AFTER HE PLAYED FOR DEEG. DEEG NEW ALBUM IS BY FAR FAR MUCH MORE BETTER THAN ANY OF ITS PAST, from music, to composition, to vocals..ect...even the guitar leads almost flawless.. Dab Teb is an album that if you let your white homies listen and they would say, "Men, you M..Fk...Hmong can really rock.." To make it short, Za best music time and career was with Deeg, but Deeg best music is not with Za.. ...so far Larry surpass and outclass Za speaking of the three Deeg albums...lol...love and peace to all the Za and Moshlub fan. Deeg rocks and kick ass...lol

The singer's name is Yeej...and the lead guitarist is Zaj of Moshlub. Zaj still lives in Fresno and still actively involved in the Hmong music scene. Yeej, well...not sure what happened to him. I guess as time passes, we all get older and take up new roles and have new responsibilities. But, IMO, Yeej had (and still has) one of the best rock vocals within the Hmong society. Today, he is still the only Hmong guy that has that typical American rock pipe. Most of us hmong guys sound pretty much the same (yuck), but Yeej's voice is unique and pretty similar to the American rockers of the 80s and early 90s. I've always thought he sounded a lot like the singer from Queensryche. I have some pretty kick a** modern rock metal tones and I don't mind having him sing them for me...because I suck. lol.

    • @deerphoria4314

Deeg is from Fresno. My uncle Za Moua is lead guitarist. Za is the most famous musician in the Hmong community. He is also the guitarist of Moshlub...
