So many excellent tips! Great job on focusing on the architecture in the beginning so you didn't have to massively refactor a ton of code later on. For a complex game like this one having a solid base is hugely important. Best of luck with the release!
Feels good to watch a video from a dev actually making stuff, Sick of watching these devs giving out advice without even having a game or making one. You’ve got some great advice and a great mindset towards Game Dev, would love to see more videos like this!
6:42 - I see that in SO MANY games... I'm talking about arrow/missile trails despawning with the arrow/missile itself. When you despawn an arrow - reparent trail particle emitter to World and despawn it after a second or two. You will see the difference ;-)
Great stuff. Love how you focus on what went well and what didn't go well. Also, good stuff on telling a bit a on how you navigated certain parts. (like what inspired you). Keep it up!, Stay healthy. Looking forward to more content.
Nice video with great tips. But for your next video: Could you make those noises (i.e. 3:39) when some text appears way quieter? It really pierces the ears, especially with headphones.
@3:14 if you haven't already, you should add a context to each label or better yet an explanatory sentence. It might be obvious, that "charge", in the context of your game, means charging at someone but you'd be amazed how often it is translated as "electrical charge" in german translations.
Really good video man, keep it up, was really good to hear all of the lessons you learnt out of this. My monkey brain also gets excited when I see the numbers go up.
Thank you for these tips. I've never really thought about how much time it would take to localize my game. I'm also developing a game on itch with 3 limited months at the moment, but yours look very professional!
Great advice. I really have problems planning and staying consistent on the idea of finishing the game probably due to the lack of skills in the art domain.
Great Advice, really appreciate it. I'm working on my Gladiator turn based game and keep meaning to do videos (done one) but time is an issue, just takes too long to do a decent video (not that mine are any good). Good advice all round, especially around scope, architecture and making sure you still have some kind of social life!
Looking extra ripped in this video! I think points 1 and 2 are difficult for technical and artistic people because those are primarily project management responsibilities. It seems simple but as someone who has worked with both great and terrible project managers, that job is difficult to get correct.
Some really great tips in here. What about an approach to quality assurance? I often think game devs skip proper testing in favour of playtests. Of course games that are fun is crucial but if they fall apart they cannot be.
That’s a good point, I’ll admit there were a lot of bugs I missed that play testers found for me, but I’d generally give the game a run before releasing an update
Always love these videos - thank you!! This might be a weird question, but how old are you? Your game dev progress has been really fun to watch over the last few years
How much sleep did you get? I've found that I convince myself that if I stay up a bit longer, which turns into a lot longer, I'll be able to get something working. However if I'd just gone to bed, at a decent time, I'd nail it pretty quickly the next day. I enjoy your videos, thanks 🙂
Quick question, you said you're working 7 days a week on your game, how many hours do you think you're doing a week in total? I have been struggling to find my ideal schedule and it would be nice to have a reference
I know half the comments are focusing on the wrong thing, but tectonic W on the cut my guy. If it's progranming or gymming, you don't slack in the temple of iron. Congrats man.

Thanks as always 3bomb
Chad devs need chadbods 😎😎
Some very good advice, and huge respect for sticking to a deadline and cutting features when necessary. That takes discipline and balls.
Thanks, I would have loved to add everything I wanted but it needed to be finished at some point

Yeah, real sorry about those

What is noteworthy is that you can grind like this on the game code, while also paying your dues to King Iron. gjgj 👏
This is the whey
TJ is almost certainly the most jacked nerd out there.
#KingOfTheNerds!
Thanks king 💪
Nice video! I'm working on a game with a 3 month overall dev timeline in mind to launch the game in October.
That’s a great timeline!
Great tips from a huge man
Thanks Usman!
Grabbed a copy of your game on steam :D. welldone and keep it up
Thank you so much!
Thanks from a gamedev newbie for the good advice

Hello brother, come to you from Code Monkey, thanks a lot. Good advises, saved, subscribed and liked, also added your game to my wishlist.
Thanks man! Code monkey is a great guy
Nice video, super helpful!

Unrelated to video but do you have any tips on how to get jacked like you?
Yeah start lifting 7 years ago

6-7 hours a night
Great video great channel

Probably 2-3 on work days, 6-8 on weekends
The bell sounds are loud and annoying
Thanks, will be fixed in the next one
Man you look exactly like a grown up Dustin from stranger things LOL
not the first comment I got saying that lol

michelin stars are max of 3 dawg
Haha thanks, I have no idea how that works, I have big arms not big brains
no u.
oh, i see. you're trying to help. nvm.
you're kinda sam sulek if he made video games
Lol thanks I like Sam
bro, we have the same name, just sayin'
With arms like that, I'm pretty sure you know how to program in Python.
Lmaooooo I actually was a python dev before game dev 😂
bro instead of making games made muscles
You were supposed to make GAMES not GAINS!
Making video games might be a mistake. Make fitness & bodybuilding tutorials instead :D
That's what 12 hours/day code arms look like 🦾
Thanks man 💪
