"Full of pride we climb the iron tower, deep inside we're full of pagan power" You could understand it as a selfreflexion: They know they've changed drasticly and they are proud of it. But they haven't forgotton their pagan origin... it slumbers inside of their hearts and if we are lucky we might get another Pagan Metal Album by Equilibrium one day...
Such a radical change in their sound... Doesn't sound like the band I fell in love with as a teenager, but it certainly doesn't sound bad at all. It take serious balls to make big changes, and they got my respect for that, and of course my love for what they did in the past. Let's see how the rest of the album sounds.
I love old Equilibrium, sad it's not the same. But I love this song a lot. Makes me wish I had more metal head friends, or wish I could go to concerts again.

this sound has IN FLAMES in times they produced a Reroute to remain LP, it was in times that IF start to play kinder metal, similar here, and about, Germany is now full of lost generation yes...
Honestly I'm digging the darker sound. I always loved Equilibrium, but their music always felt "happy" to me. Also, this still sounds like Folk Metal to me melodically, just not with folk instruments. That part starting at 1:08 is straight up folk metal.
Just because there's no fiddle, violin and flutes doesn't mean the folk is gone. Musically and melodically this song is bursting with folk elements. Gonna add this one to my workout playlist!!
Come on people. There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying new styles. Every band does it at least once in its lifetime. Take a look at Megadeth for instance: They went Southern and even Hard Rock, but went back to Thrash later on. This song is GREAT
Trying something new and change the sound entirely is different. 2 years later my mind opens wider but I still find song like Path of Destiny disturbing because Equilibrium had implanted its image of symphonic folk metal band into my brain and Path of Destiny is something almost entirely different the only thing it shared in common with other songs is it's metal and it's Equilibrium's.

Ich will das auch gar nicht mit Sagas vergleichen, das ist 11 jahre (!) her - in der Zeit sollte man sich weiterentwickelt haben und das ist euch unglaublich gut gelungen! Ich höre in diesem Lied Equilibrium, wie ich es noch nie gehört habe, und deshalb ist das Album auch gleich mal vorbestellt! :)

i swear these people complain about any newly released album ...you will always find people say " they are not making the same music any more or i miss their old music " ,personally i loved the new song and i will be buying the new album , the more melodies the better and EQUILIBRIUM never disappoint .

They may have drastically changed their sound but let's be honest ... this is a bomb ! Catchy, melodic and powerful. Personally i'm hooked ! Loved your folk era but i embrace the change since the music remains awesome
Some metalheads should be more open minded about band shifting towards new sound. For them if it's different from what they're used to they'll automatically talk trash about it, even if the music is top quality
I think a lot of people get upset if a band changes their sound and its inferior to their earlier stuff. If the sound changes but the music is consistently good, like Equilibrium, then people are more open to it.

The uncompromisingly stubbornness of so many of this bands followers is a bit worrying. Are you really so afraid of change you would turn your backs? I for one applaud Equilibrium and as a real fan of their work support their decision to experiment on this record. Obviously I think they knew this bold direction would deter some of the more obstinate fans. I have loved Equilibrium since 2009 and will continue to be there with them.

It took me three years to realize how the first 10 seconds is basically the song of the bottomless pit from Miyazaki's Spirited Away. Not a bad thing, actually. It was just unexpected.

Das klingt wirklich nicht schlecht, ABER hört sich für mich mehr wie eine Mischung aus Soilwork und InFlames an. Ich kann es verstehen, dass man sich weiterentwickelt und nicht Altes aufwärmen will. Ich werde dennoch die alten Equilibriums vermissen.
Die Band hat es geschafft, alte Trademarks in die Moderne zu tragen. Allein das verdient Respekt. Dieser Wandel begann bereits mit "Rekreatur" und wird hier ultimativ weiter geführt. Es gibt immer noch die klassischen dudeligen Folk-Elemente in verspielten Melodien, aber alles ist etwas ernsthafter und düsterer von der Atmosphäre. Ich habe bereits als Reviewer seit einiger Zeit das gesamte Album und kann dir sagen, dass es mein bisheriges Highlight 2019 ist. Da steckt SO viel Herzblut drin und diese Chance sollte man dieser grandiosen Band einräumen. Bestes Album seit "Sagas".

Was ist nur aus den Zeiten geworden in denen Equi Songs wie Dämmerung, Blut im Auge, Unbesiegt und Widars Hallen oder Mana rausgehauen hat. ( Bei Odins bart habe ich Mana geliebt und liebe es noch heute) Klar der Song ist gut aber in meinen Augen leider nicht mehr das Equilibrium was mir über Jahre Gänsehaut verpasst hat und mir in nicht so guten Zeiten immer wieder neuen mut gegeben hat weiter zu kämpfen. \m/
Das passiert halt insbesondere durch die ganzen Line-Up Änderungen bei Equi. Seitdem Helge weg ist, fehlt halt der "kern" des alten Equilibriums. Es ist ja auch nur noch ein gründungsmitglied in der Band. Es ist verständlich, dass man sich dadurch massiv verändert, auch weil die Interessen sich ändern und zu Robse passt das gefühlt hier auch besser als das Folk/Pagan Metal Zeug.
Thing is they completely changed their style and everyone is angry about it, but here I am enjoying it, and it sounds better than their old stuff, you won't find that sound in. So stick to the new album ;)

Also wie soilwork und inflames klingt das nicht. Das ist was eigenes sehr geiles. In flames klingt ständig gleich und soilwork ist mehr normaler Metal

( Bei Odins bart habe ich Mana geliebt und liebe es noch heute) Klar der Song ist gut aber in meinen Augen leider nicht mehr das Equilibrium was mir über Jahre Gänsehaut verpasst hat und mir in nicht so guten Zeiten immer wieder neuen mut gegeben hat weiter zu kämpfen. \m/
Das passiert halt insbesondere durch die ganzen Line-Up Änderungen bei Equi. Seitdem Helge weg ist, fehlt halt der "kern" des alten Equilibriums.
Es ist ja auch nur noch ein gründungsmitglied in der Band.
Es ist verständlich, dass man sich dadurch massiv verändert, auch weil die Interessen sich ändern und zu Robse passt das gefühlt hier auch besser als das Folk/Pagan Metal Zeug.

Thing is they completely changed their style and everyone is angry about it, but here I am enjoying it, and it sounds better than their old stuff, you won't find that sound in. So stick to the new album ;)
