    "Videos like this are not really to celebrate the government" my favourite statement of this video. You're well informed and this was a nice video generally. Nice one man!

      Because these are dividends of democracy and this is expected from every government. Same with roads, schools, public hospitals and electricity.

    I like that you are spreading positivity. Good job. But it would be nice if you can also put it out accurately. At the moment we have no light rail system in Nigeria. What we have in Lagos and Abuja are Metro systems. Light rails just as they are called are rail systems that are not too big and not too expensive and they cover shorter distances. They also run along the streets and are mostly electric.
    For better understanding you should see the Ethiopian light rail. The interior of the trains running on that track is similar to the sitting arrangements of the Lagos high capacity BRT buses and the train length is usually about the length of three of such buses combined. Light rails don't have train stations, they have train stops that are similar to the BRT bus stops along the Oshiodi Abule egba BRT corridor in lagos and if Lagos is to have light rails the best route for the light rail trains to run is along the BRT lanes in Lagos along side the cars on the road. That's what light rails are like and they have limited passanger capacities. But the rail systems in Lagos and Abuja have mega stations and they have indefinite passenger capacities as more coaches can be added to train set.
    There are about three to four different rail systems. The train express is like the Lagos Ibadan as well as Senegal train service (there's an actual name for that kind of system but some call them regional trains or inter state trains) the next is the metro and that's what we have in Lagos and Abuja. They are only made for intra city movement and can go long distance and they use either DMU or EMU and they mostly have mega stations.
    They have underground metro, elevated metro and grid level metro depending on the design. The next one is the light rail ( I already explained that one) the next one is the monorail. This one is mostly elevated and we have two of those in Nigeria and both are in the east (Rivers and Calabar) but not functioning at the moment. I think just like the Abuja Metro they were constructed along routes that are not well traveled and patronage became low. However mono rails are more like sky trains and they have different designs. These ones also have limited capacities and are used for short distances. If you see a monorail it's easy to identify with it's special design and the track is made of a singular (mono) beam and the wheels are not like that of regular trains and cannot be used on normal tracks but they're always beautiful and have unique designs.

      There is nothing like metro light rail. It's either a metro or a light rail or a mono rail. This is a metro not a light rail.

    Because its free doesn't mean payment systems should not be running. I hope they get that working as soon as possible. Its not going to be free forever, better to get the commuters comfortable with the payment systems.

    • @seuntimothy
      @seuntimothy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Exactly , they should have every commuter purchase cards while they use it for free. It’s easier to get data of how many people use the trains daily and what is expected when it’s in full operation and people are conversant with how the system works so there’s no drag in the flow of things when payments start. Wisely spoken 👍

    • @nmg1909
      @nmg1909 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You mean you can keep money in a card for 6 months unused? When the free ride is about a month to elapse, the card purchase will start, but not now!

    • @tunxlaw
      @tunxlaw 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nmg1909 Yes you can keep money in the card for 6 months. They can hand out the cards for free if they please, but every passenger should tap in and out of the system. It helps with education and data collection. Standard practice is you get debited when you tap in and refunded when you tap out.

      @@Southernview3k true, everyone knows lagos is dirty, disorganized and overpopulated especially in the mainland🤣. but that said, on the island stations(especiall around national theatre and marina), lagos is definitely better cuz of the fact that the tracs are elevated, that's it, if abuja's was elevated around the city centre, it'll be better than the lagos one

    • @emmanuelogundipe3328
      @emmanuelogundipe3328 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Both Abuja and Lagos have nice views. The only one thing that takes my breath away on the Lagos train is the ocean crossing. There's no ocean crossing train in the whole of Africa aside the one in Lagos. It was stupid for people to compare the cost of construction to that of any rail system on the continent especially when none of those crossed the ocean. Also light rails don't cross oceans but metros do. That's to say that Lagos has a metro system not a light rail system and it's the same with the one in Abuja. People keep calling it a light rail.

    Good video, but what's wrong with celebrating the government and their achievements when they do well? Be your own man and don't pander to the headless mob! Political correctness doesn't lead anywhere.

    • @seuntimothy
      @seuntimothy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. I do understand your point and you’re absolutely right , there’s nothing wrong with celebrating the government when they do good.If you’ve watched any of my previous videos , I usually commend the government for jobs well done But in this case I made the video for my audience not the government per se and when I’m invited by the government to celebrate achievements , I’ll surely let you know in the videos as well.
      My core goal with this channel is to promote the continent as much as I can with the time and resources I have outside my day job. So it’s important that the few people who get to see my videos know why we’re doing what we do.
      I hope I was able to convey my thoughts process properly.
