I have lived between Marquette and Munising for several years and own a rental lodge (Laughing Whitefish River Retreat). I really enjoy helping folks explore the area. There are some really phenomenal attractions in the area year round and a lot of different ways to explore it. (She is definitely right about the ice cleats btw.) There are amazing options for hiking and paddling, motor sports, beach combing, ice caves and ice climbing, dog sled racing, mountain and fat tire biking, camping, etc. You can also get out in professional boat tours along Pictured Rocks. We have some really solid bar, restaurant, and coffee shops as well (larger range in Marquette for sure though). Gallery Coffee is a beautiful shop and doubles as a music venue at night. Seney National Wildlife Refuge is an easy day trip from Munising and worth the time. The UP has a lot of wildlife and some strange and lovely humans. Hiawatha National Forest is a good option for families on a budget to spend time up here and the office in Munising is really helpful. Enjoy folks.
Several years ago we took the wrong trail to Pictured Rocks. It was over 2 miles each way, rough walking in places and we had young grandchildren with us. What an adventure! Munising seems like a nice little town. Good to have you back again.
I took a video in front of that waterfall , a week or so before the "Christmas" video dropped. Like to send those to my 3 year old granddaughter. She watched it 5 times one after another according to my daughter. She is my audience.
Some day hope to visit there! Although I am not too sure about being there in the winter. Waterfalls seem to be even more beautiful in the winter! Truly blessed to benear enough to visit such areas! Will continue to pray for your heart!! Love that old cabin! Would love to visit Dogpatch. Love local coffee shops and we try to visit when in small towns. Thanks for pointing out old churches.
Years back it was ok to walk behind the falls. The local high school always had the class picture with the students behind the falls. Great place in the summer & fall.
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. 1:57
I did a tour of the UP( live in Wisconsin) in the 80's. The trip was waterfall to waterfall. Had a fantastic time. Thanks for bringing back those memories. In Munising we stopped at a museum and i got a book on shipwrecks of lake Superior. I also remember Fayetteville statepark(Michigan) as being beautiful.
Sally, I was up there several years ago, taking the cruise along the lake shore. Beautiful ride! Several years before that, I tried unsuccessfully to do it, but it was that day in late summer when the seasonal breeze shifted, and the first cruise of the day had to be canceled because the boat was being blown onto the shore--end of the cruise season.
If u were up here last year, we had a record breaking thermal winter of hardly any snow. Usually, by end of February we're over 150 inches + more to come in March and even April!
Hi , we are up in the UP visiting our daughters family and my husband and I decided to go to pictured rocks for a drive but because we don’t know enough about the UP we thought it was in Manistique wooops! We should have known better. We will go later! 🤣🤣🤣
We made the same mistake, Manistique - Munising, M word cities in Michigan. It was raining that day so it might not have been such a pleasant hike anyway.
You missed Deerton not much left but the school,my grandparents owned the store and my other grandparents had the post office in their house I lived there as a kid it was a ghost town then .
You missed a good view of Munising Falls by not going up the stairs when you were there. Main Street Pizza is a good food stop if you ever get back up there.
You've never seen those Holiday Inn Express commercials where people are able to do super human things just because they stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the night before. Cmon now - ask someone else I'm sure they have.@@SightseeingSally
There has been talk from the Governor about possibly relocating migrants from Detroit up into that area and Escanaba . The whole lifestyle up there is going to change .. For the better or worse is yet to be seen. Love the U.P
It's too bad that you came up here during the winter that wasn't. Normally, everything would be completely covered in snow. It is much more beautiful. Come back soon and experience it again.

It used to be nice here until our beautiful u.p. has been over exploited for tourism which is why I'm assuming you say it's nicer on the off season😂 wish it could have remained a secret. Back before you had to be a millionaire to live here

Awesome looking town for sure, my heart is up there, spent a lot of my life going fishing in spooner Webster area❤
Thanks Sally. Love your videos. I retire in May and going to take my first motorcycle trip of the year to Munising and points west of there.
hope you had a happy holiday stay well.
Too cold to visit anywhere up North. You are a brave woman.
lol thanks!
Happy new Year to you Sally and Marty from Longview Texas.
Same to you! From Wisconsin 🥶

Just think, we were this close to crossing paths!
So glad to see another video !
Pictured Rocks and Munising are awesome. Munising park is similar in many ways to Starved Rock in Illinois, especially the waterfall you showed here.
thank you for this video, been needing me some Sally and Marty !

I don’t mind the winter from the car. 😂
Winter is tolerable with plenty of hot chocolate and heated clothing 😉
Haven't seen you since last year hope to see you more this year happy new year Sally and Marty 😊😊
I enjoyed your tour (as usual)!! You two make these places interesting and beautiful even in the winter! Thanks again! 👍❤️
Thank you so much for coming along. 👍
You’re welcome Darrell 😊 Exploring in winter can be fun as long as you can stay warm while doing it.

@@MeanderingMarty great Marty, keep taking us to the small obscure towns. I love it.
LOVE the UP!!!❤❤❤

Have you ever considered Mayville WI, as a sight seeing destination? Very picturesque and friendly place.
I really like waterfalls as well. They’re always so pretty with the water flowing down. This was a nice quick view the area! Thanks Sally ❤

Great video!
I shall be telling this with a sigh

Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it. P.s. I’m probably not as big of a fan of winter as you lol 😂

Believe that bird silhouette is a nuthatch. Well known for being upside-down on trees picking off insects.
I agree. They are a similar size. We get both at our suet feeder in central Maine.
See, I’m not up on my bird identification lol
Stay warm !
Thank you for that beautiful Christmas card ! I send you a card this Saturday !
You’re very welcome Glenn!
@@SightseeingSally you two , are the best !

I love the U P
Go to Hurley, Wisconsin. The whole town is all bars and taverns.
If I’m not mistaken they also get a ton of snow up there.
Lot of snow Santa
You stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night, have you found out you can perform surgery now?
What?

We had pasties there, and a fish fry.
Have you been to lake of the clouds in the porcupine mountains yet?

The Upper Peninsula is beautiful. So long as you have a pair of insulated pants you should be alright-ish.
First.
Love it Sally😂
My comment was pinned - a poor man's shoutout from Sightseeing Sally.🤣
You and Marty are making me cold just watching you kids.
