The one you used was Tasmanian hardwood.
The other has a higher chance of floating as it’s Balsa.
I do show the process of re coring them in some of mine, the center doesn’t hold up otherwise.

Nate. You have absolutely no clue how nice it is to watch your videos. It gives me the chance to feel normal again. Ive never heard you once speak of elections or pandemics or riots or lockdowns, or anything like that, watching your videos makes things just seem more normal. It's a huge relief to not hear someone ever mention anything else, just a really talented bait maker, doing what he loves. Your a great person, keep it up buddy, your doing way more then just making baits with these videos.
Its like a steam punk lure, and I appreciate the quality and volume of videos lately.

Thats a great pond setup. Aerators, lights and 2 feeders. That pond has to be loaded with healthy fish. Cool looking bait and it definitely works. 👍
you should make some sort of crab bait man. I haven’t seen a vid of one yet and I think it’d be a pretty neat thing to design considering all the different movements and actions you Could give it.
Dude... I think the lathe made for a quick way to get down to the corn cob finish before sanding it to final form.
I think he went lathe because that’s how I do all mine, so it’s the only way thats been shown. Lol
I believe turning made the piece more balanced than mere cutting to form from the start. To much patter change in the raw phase to hand cut or saw cut.

Does that lathe have speed adjustments? Judging by the "chunking" it needs to be slowed down....or your tools sharpened and used with less pressure.

That is a super-sweet pattern. Looks so much like real scales. I wanna see how the other blank turns out, no pun intended. Would love to see a set of baits in candy apple gloss colors over chrome, especially red and yellow, doubled dipped for extra gloss! I can dream.

Those colors and the corn cob pattern is amazing, looks like a vermillion rock fish after it has been scaled. These need to be produced somehow, I love this bait.

It reminds me of an old Arbogaster crankbait, of which I still have several from the 1960's when I started fishing for bass.
