Randy thank you for being educational and respectful to the forest service. My dad retired 40 years with the fishlake national Forest in Utah and my mom with over 35 years and now me with six years under my belt it has been a part of my whole life. Most people give us a lot of greif and crap because they just don't understand how we have to manage the public lands and how hard it is to fight the environmentalists all the time to get anything done. So thank you for being respectful all the forest service is like family to me.

Can't imagine how different life would be for many of us without the foresight to set these lands aside for public use. Appreciate this type of info as it's important to educate so future generations will continue to have access via awareness and participation in the process.

Thank you, Randy, for a straight forward and accurate explanation. I recently retired after 35+ years with the Forest Service, and juggling the interests of millions of citizens was among the most challenging parts of the job. Is the FS cutting too many trees or not enough? Closing too many roads or not enough? Grazing too many cows or...you get the idea. I do wish sportsmen spoke with a louder voice when it comes to reducing open road travel by motorized vehicles - its the one thing we could do to most positively impact quality hunting opportunities on public lands.
Keep up the good work, and I wish you good health!

People need to take their issues up with Congress and demand better policy and funding for the treasured lands we all enjoy. Too many people want to blame the local USFS staff person, when the cause of frustration stems from Congress.

anyone that would like a tour of the stanislaus natinonal forest in california I would be glad to show them ... they are the biggest faliure of any government agency in history ..these fire s they cant put out is because of no management they need to be complety terminated and let california foresty manage their own forest ...their burn plan on a forest fire is to have it so they dont have to mess with it for another 100 years ask any cal fire fire fighter .I have worked for both f the forest service

Randy, thanks for the series. It amazes me how little people really know about these acronyms. I noticed in several of the "fly-over" shots that there was a significant amount of dead timber. I have read that there is a significant push to open those lands for harvest of the dead standing timber to alleviate or drastically reduce the tinder to help reduce or prevent large scale fires. How can I better voice my feelings in support for those efforts or what contact information should I be using to communicate with those in the region I live? I am in Utah. Thanks again. Lance Postma
