Fun fact, after michael did the audition, ubisoft never contacted him to say he got the role. It was a friend of Michael at E3 who called him to say that he saw a dude looking like him in a game.
If anything, there is at least some subtle differences between Michael Mando and Vaas. For one, Michael looks "healthier" than his game self. Vaas has more of a ravaged by drugs look to his bodyshape (which, I believe is in his backstory) than Michael does in this video series.

Now they're a bunch of money grubbers, FC 6 was disappointing, I was expecting more since they got Giancarlo Esposito as the main antagonist. Michael Mando's performance in Better Call Saul is top notch though! Such a great actor.
You know you made a great villain when they appear on the game case cover art. Far Cry started that trend with Vaas. And what’s crazy is Vaas was originally supposed to be just some random minor enemy in the game. During audition, Ubisoft liked Michael Mandos so much they made an entire character just from it. He had to improvise and come up with dialogue while in character. When Mando did a screen testing where he thought it wasn’t very good. Then when E3 2011 came out, the trailer Ubisoft showed for FC3 was that exact same screen testing and he was caught by surprised
Vaas is one of my favorite video game villains. He’s so weirdly intelligent for what he does on a daily basis. He reminds me of a smart person that went crazy, he slips between a loud yell of terror to a soft voice of reason.

Basically he doesn't joke at all and when/if he does (its been a few years since I've re-played it) he's mocking you or threatening you. FC3 actually has 2 villains, Vaas and Hoyt. Vaas is so much better that unless you've played or watched a playthrough of 3 yourself you've likely never even heard of Hoyt. For me the game ends when Vaas dies, and he's literally the first villain... granted he is in like at least half of the game so its not like he's only in it for 5 minutes.

It seems like killing a bunch of influential young people on your island full of criminals is an incredibly bad idea. What's to stop the US from just rolling up with high powered weapons and taking everyone apart? Seems like this would make a hell of an international incident.
Theres an easter egg in Farcry 3 where you can go to the spot where he tortures Christopher and see him buried to his neck on that island. You even get an achievement/trophy for finding it. Vaas actor was amazing in the promos and the game. Like everyone, i wish Ubisoft had used him more and made him the main villain.

yo when i first watched this when I was like..12 or 13. I was scared, humored, and amazed at the same time. i still am. micheal mando who play's vaas is amazing. Vaas' backstory is that when he was a teenager, he started doing drugs and basically got forced into doing bad things for the pirates on the island and became insane. quite sad, but damn its good. also, micheal mando seems like a really nice guy in real life, so quite the contrast. EDIT: this short film takes place right before the beginning of the game. you actually hear the pirate talk about the skydivers which is you.

Far Cry 3 is the only installment that did a special mini episodic show to promote the game before it’s release and still proves to this day that Vaas Montenegro is the best villain in the whole franchise and one of the best villains in all of gaming history.

Far cry has some of the best villains in general, primal you don't pay too much attention to the main villain as you do in the other games but primal is great nonetheless and probably underrated I would say since I hardly hear people talk about it now
Omgomgomg I have been waiting years for someone to react to the far cry experience and I’m so happy it was you two! Far cry 3 was my first game in the franchise (played it when I was 13 I’m 23 now) I still have my OG Xbox 360 copy!, Vaas is such an amazing antagonist, and he introduced me to his actor Micheal Mando (he’s also scorpion in the end scene of Spider-Man homecoming)
Michael Mando will always have a special place in my heart. I started with Far Cry 5 first. After finishing it, everyone said to try out Far Cry 3. I absolutely loved it. Unlike Joseph Seed from 5, Vaas feels like he's always behind you. He has such a presence to him everytime he's on the screen. Always entertaining in a sick way. And Jason Brody unlike the Rook, actually has some nice character development. He's not just a static character, we see how he feels, how he thinks and how this whole deal is affecting him. He goes from this scared pompous asshole, to this Rambo son of a gun. Hopefully Mando comes back as Mac Gargan in the MCU, Scorpion being able to make you hallucinate with the various toxins in his Scorpion suit can lead to many possibilities. Also since Sony is planning on having Holland face Hardy in the future, that can lead to Osborne (can be introduced in Morbius) creating the Dark Avengers and having Mac Gargan as Spider-Man.
Nearly every mainline Far Cry game from 2 onwards had amazing villains. I recommend checking out the documentary “How the Far Cry iconic villains were created”, though I suggest watching it after you get a bit more familiarized with the villains of 4 and 5

Far cry has some of the best villains in general, primal you don't pay too much attention to the main villain as you do in the other games but primal is great nonetheless and probably underrated I would say since I hardly hear people talk about it now

Vaas is such an amazing antagonist, and he introduced me to his actor Micheal Mando (he’s also scorpion in the end scene of Spider-Man homecoming)

Michael Mando will always have a special place in my heart. I started with Far Cry 5 first. After finishing it, everyone said to try out Far Cry 3. I absolutely loved it. Unlike Joseph Seed from 5, Vaas feels like he's always behind you. He has such a presence to him everytime he's on the screen. Always entertaining in a sick way. And Jason Brody unlike the Rook, actually has some nice character development. He's not just a static character, we see how he feels, how he thinks and how this whole deal is affecting him. He goes from this scared pompous asshole, to this Rambo son of a gun. Hopefully Mando comes back as Mac Gargan in the MCU, Scorpion being able to make you hallucinate with the various toxins in his Scorpion suit can lead to many possibilities. Also since Sony is planning on having Holland face Hardy in the future, that can lead to Osborne (can be introduced in Morbius) creating the Dark Avengers and having Mac Gargan as Spider-Man.

Man Vaas is such a dope character. He’s not even in the actual game very much but he still steals the whole game. His presence is mesmerizing.
Nearly every mainline Far Cry game from 2 onwards had amazing villains. I recommend checking out the documentary “How the Far Cry iconic villains were created”, though I suggest watching it after you get a bit more familiarized with the villains of 4 and 5
