    Nice job! Thank you for introducing me to Click Bond, that's a great solution for many projects.

    Looks great buddy. That Click Bond system is the best there is. Yes you had a little bit of trouble but we all do modding these things but it's a well worth while job. No more running looking for chains. Thumbs up sir.

      Thanks Paul! ...yeah I could have done a retake but decided not to... keeping it real. Really was stupid on my part as I knew they might dislodge from my template going in. And hey I don't profess to be a pro. Normally I make a template that frames the base and place the fixtures in the corner. I tried to get cute and use the same drilling template for the CB install. Problem was that the studs didn't protrude far enough from the top of the fixtures! Live and learn.

    Where to hang chains on a new tractor is a problem because of damage to the paint, otherwise on older models, wrapping them around the ROPS or whatever usually works well enough. Nice mounting application.

    Just found your channel . Great idea on using click bond for your chain box and mirrors . I did hear Paul Short mention click bond at one time but this is the first time watching someone go through the entire process of using it . No need for editing when miscalculations are made . This way we can see the mistakes and learn how not to make them . Thanks for a couple of great videos . I have subscribed . Your yard has a beautiful view . Your one lucky man .

      Thank you for the nice words, Henry! Yeah, I knew I was pushing it with my template as the studs didn't stick out far enough but thought I would give it a try. I thought also to redo the video but then thought, what the heck... show the goof too.

    GREAT IDEA!! I wonder if you made a template for those holes out of a piece of metal or tin foil and used it as a stencil to spray some Aircraft Remover onto where you need the paint to go away, if that would produce a less nerve-wracking paint removal.

    • @dragonseggs
      @dragonseggs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, probably a better idea. I didn't give that a thought. Actually I was surprised the OEM paint was as tough as it was.

    You can never have too many storage boxes on a tractor and the Kubota factory box is not big enough for much more than a few wrenches at best.

    • @dragonseggs
      @dragonseggs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right about storage space... I have two ammo boxes and the Kubota little plastic box which is sort of a joke. But I use them all.

    Would get in the way of coupling and uncoupling of hydraulic line, but a good system.

    I'm just wandering why you didn't drill and tap the holes?

    • @dragonseggs
      @dragonseggs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure you can do that... I just prefer not drilling or welding on my tractor. To each their own!

  • @ritterjon
    @ritterjon 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Now I know what I can do with my other ammo box. I installed one on my ROPS already but really like what you did here. Nice work, any particular reason you installed on the right side vs left. Any interference with hooking up or disconnecting the hydraulic lines? Thanks for the video! Great idea!

    • @dragonseggs
      @dragonseggs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for such a late reply... I really don't do many videos. And I'm not good at checking and responding. I ended up putting one on both sides. No issues with hydraulic connections or accessing zerks. Again so sorry for missing you until now.

    I'm wondering how durable is the Click Bond Stud, do they give way after time, vibration, weight, etc., has stressed them?

    • @dragonseggs
      @dragonseggs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A properly prepared surface and adhesive selection will mean the bond will last a lifetime. By bonding directly to fresh bright steel, a chemical/molecular bond is formed thus preventing corrosion to invade the joint. the fact that no hole is drilled, a starting place for a crack is eliminated. So, it's better than drilling and welding in this regard. This technology has been around for 30+ years and most things designed in the last 10years and flying today use Click Bond parts believe it or not!

    I think it would be easier to drill and tap the holes

    • @dragonseggs
      @dragonseggs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Easier... I doubt it. If you don't mind putting holes in structural members, sure that is an option too.

    • @Noah_E
      @Noah_E ปีที่แล้ว

      True. I would have drilled a single hole for the bottom and one for each top corner. Drill and bolt the box using the bottom hole. Run the top bolts from inside the FEL out and once you have it where you want it give the inside of the box a tap with a hammer over both top points. Rotate it while still loosely attached at the bottom and drill the marks left from the "studs". Run the top bolts out and reinstall from inside the box and tighten everything. No templates or grinding needed, faster, and 3 small holes aren't going to make a difference in a component that large

    Are the ammo boxes water proof to prevent your chain or tools from getting soaked?

    • @dragonseggs
      @dragonseggs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the lid has a gasket and tight fitting 'buckle'. However I did drill holes in the bottom four corners to allow a wet chain to drain.

      Absolutely... box on both sides now! I love them. One side for chains, the other for clippers, wrenches, pins, duct tape, etc. The key is to use a very good structural adhesive and bond to 'bright' metal.
