I don't see Ilia winning unless it goes to the ground or if he has Max pressed against the cage, which is not a position Max usually finds himself in. But thats where all of Ilias KOs so far came from, so if Max just stays away from being backed up against the cage (and he is usually the one applying pressure and going forward) I think he will win in dominant fashion again.. And neither Poirier or Oliveira could land big on him at mid-distance. Makhachev is the most well-rounded fighter in the game right now. No one is even close to what he does and has done. 27/6 When he first fought mcgregor back in 2013 and did really well in that fight.. he went on a 13 fight win streak up to and including this fight. Lost to Dustin, beat Frankie.. double loss to Volk, 2 more wins and a final loss to Volk again.. 2 more wins and followed by one of the greatest fights/KO's we've ever seen against Gaethje in April this year. The guy is a legend, his fights are always entertaining and holds some of the most legendary fights we've seen. The fact he's done all this and is only turning 33 in Dec is just immense. I hope he destroys Topuria and takes the belt and continues dominating the division in style

I'm a fan of Ilia, like I said, but I'm also a longtime fan of the sport and it seems to me that calling a new champ The GOAT is a more "casual" take than waiting to see how much he actually accomplishes.

Topuria had a hard time with Herbert, and Herbert is a lower-tier lightweight who shouldn't even be in the UFC.
If Makhachev lands the same headkick Herbert threw, Topuria is not getting up.
Saying that Makhachev is "average" in striking is complete bulls*** at this point. Ilia ate more jabs in two rounds with Volk than Islam did in two fights with Volk. And neither Poirier or Oliveira could land big on him at mid-distance.
Makhachev is the most well-rounded fighter in the game right now.
He can strike, wrestle, grapple, his Judo trips are unmatched, his BJJ game and his transitions on the ground are high level, and his brute force is well-known at this point. He doesn't even need to pass guard to complete an arm-triangle choke...That's how strong he is on the ground.

When he first fought mcgregor back in 2013 and did really well in that fight.. he went on a 13 fight win streak up to and including this fight.
Lost to Dustin, beat Frankie.. double loss to Volk, 2 more wins and a final loss to Volk again.. 2 more wins and followed by one of the greatest fights/KO's we've ever seen against Gaethje in April this year.
The guy is a legend, his fights are always entertaining and holds some of the most legendary fights we've seen.
The fact he's done all this and is only turning 33 in Dec is just immense.
I hope he destroys Topuria and takes the belt and continues dominating the division in style
