You did a good job reviewing this paint. I have used Rustoleum Chalked paint in the past and thought it was a good product. I've used other brands recently'; just now I'm using the Behr Chalk Decorative paint in Farmhouse White on a mahogany vintage chair, and I have to say I don't like the coverage. I've put four coats on, and it still needs another coat. (sigh). Before that I painted a light wood bookcase, and the coverage was about the same -- it took four coats -- so I don't think it's the dark mahogany that's entirely the problem. So, I have a wood file cabinet to paint and this time I bought the Rustoleum Chalked paint in Linen White and watched your video to see how you liked it before I started the project. I'm ready to jump in now. I will mention that after the problem with the Behr paint, I decided to give the file cabinet, which is a very dark wood, a coat of primer just to make sure there was no bleed through. I have a feeling it will turn out nice. Thanks for making the video, and for your excellent review.
Thank you for the kind words Nancy! I think the primer was the right choice. I’ve struggled with bleed on a lot of the white. I like the Chalked paint. The pigment is high on this one. I’ve had a few paints recently that have struggled to cover. Good luck with your cabinet!
I didn’t too coat these and they’re holding up. For some pieces that get more wear and tear I have coated it with matte Varathane. It works great and doesn’t yellow.
Hi! Thanks for the review 🤠✨💜 I have some questions, some people says that this paknt is one of the only ones that can be used on melamine furniture, I want to paint a bookshelf white because ✨ quarantine room glow up✨ I think I have to use sand paper before I paint it. You think is a good paint for that material?
I love a good glow up! 🙋🏻♀️ you can use chalk type paint on melamine and yes you should sand regardless of what chalk paint fanatics say. You will never be sorry you sanded. You can actually use any paint you want if you use a high tack primer like Adhesion. They sell it on Amazon and most Home Depot stores. Here’s an affiliate like if you’re interested. It doesn’t cost you any extra amzn.to/3s6p9e7 This bonds to the plastic and creates a sticky surface for any type of paint you want. I am getting ready to do a mid century desk with this in a video.
It good. I’ve used it several time on projects I don’t want to brush like pieces with a lot of spindles. It’s very much like regular spray paint so you have to prepare the surface you’re painting the same way. It is an ultra matte finish so if there are dents or imperfections in the surface they will show. Other than that the spray has good coverage and a high pigment. I hope that helps!
I use the Rustoleum chalk paint in Black and love it. Am doing my coffee table top in black and it's beautiful
Yeah it’s good stuff. I finished off that whole can just recently and it went a long way. I think I got 5 pieces out of that quart.

how do you like the spray paint version?

It’s a spray. Other than that the results are the same.
