The hack interview was very poorly done by triple J clearly Dylan struggles to articulate and speak his true opinion when put in those situations and tom tilly took advantage of that.
100%, Tom Tilly acknowledged that Dylan had schizophrenia, but then continued to hound him even though he was clearly uncomfortable. For me that kind of behaviour verges on ableism.
In the Triple J interview it also sounded like "boys will be boys, and thats what i'm not trying to promote" am I just stoned or was that taken out of context
I genuinely don't think that Sticky Fingers did anything wrong. In the footage from the Dispossessed gig, Dylan is saying 'I love you guys' and 'Fuck Pauline Hanson', which sounds like the opposite of racism to me. Every time someone alleges that they've done something wrong, someone else present at the time of the alleged incident contradicts that version of events. Great video. I only discovered Sticky Fingers late last year and didn't find out about the drama until recently, Freddy Crabs in particular seems like a really well put together guy and I honestly believe his words when it comes to Dylan. As somebody who has also suffered from mental illness, when put in confrontational or challenging situations I seriously struggle to form a coherent sentence or even function properly too. I think the guys were just more immature and lacking confidence more than they were trying to avoid blame or negate the effects of their actions. The "boys will be boys" line was pretty much the nail in the coffin for their Triple J run, unfortunately.
He’s apologised on all platforms and has done so much better for himself too such as working on his mental health and taking the blame for his past actions, now you tell me any man rn in his situation that’s willing to drop their pride and admit that they need help or change? Their new album says it all, speaks volumes of how much they grew together as a band, musicians and as individuals. Also, Paddy sent a letter to Dylan who was in the hospital,to apologize and make up after bashing his face in. But the article says, most of the punches landed, were on the ground and a handful on Dylans head and face.

cancelled has been diluted to a meaning that does not apply to sticky fingers, cancelled means that their entire careers are over, losing records signings ect, but they are just banned from australia, they can play anywhere else in the world
Sticky Fingers are by far the best band getting around atm and have been for 10 years or more, The depth, quality (and quantity) of their music is unmatched by any other outfit. Lekkerboy is ridiculously brilliant, so deeply layered and diverse. I'm 60 and have lived thru a lot of eras in music (seen Bowie 5x (15 years old,1978) and Stones 4x, Neil Young, 3x just to name a few), I would never condone spitting on people or racism but all this cancel crap has just gone way too far now. Everyone needs calm down and get over themselves. Rock stars used to do crazy shit and no one blinked an eye. They're not politicians or social commentators. They are muso's, They are hardcore partiers and they are f#@I
My take on this whole thing is that Sticky Fingers represented a specific culture which I think a lot of Australian youth want to move away from. Heavily drinking, not a care in the world privileged white kids getting big and still finding some success despite their horrible behaviour. I want to believe they've changed after hearing this and I do believe there is a big of a symbolism in terms of them taking them off air and yet Smith Street Band have a pass after Wil Wagner was accused of violence by Georgia Maq. Also, another thing that I watched with the entire situation with Bluesfest, the fanbase they've cultivated does not reflect any change the band has undergone. The amount of vitriol directed towards minorities by their fanbase was disgusting during that time gave a lot of people more reason to believe that they weren't doing enough. However, I feel like personally, Lime Cordiale are turning out to almost be Sticky Fingers 2.0, being one of the most enduring modern Australian bands with lyrics that are... less than pleasant, especially towards women. They almost feel like what people assume Sticky Fingers to be and it's uncomfortable how successful they are.
Fair comment, but I think you are making a few generalisations that I personally think are a bit over blown. There certainly were those vitriolic people out there, but I don't think they were on mass. Also, I don't believe Georgia mac accused Wagner of violence, rather gas lighting. Those two things are bad, but violence is probably worse, so I think that needs to be clarified. I think will clearly acted poorly in their relationship and probably has a lot of regrets. Triple j and a lot of outlets cooled their jets on the smithies for a year or two, but started playing them again when it calmed down in the media. I think I feel the same about that situation as I do with stifi. At the end of the day Wagner made mistakes, people said potentially out of context things about him in an attempt to cancel. He hasn't shown a pattern of doing that in his life and recently got married and now has a kid. So maybe we can see a person who screwed up and has learned from mistakes and now has matured as a person. Just my thoughts anyway... thanks for your comment :)
@solitudeausmusic yeah that all makes sense. It was a while since I read the accusations with Wil were so I couldn't quite remember while writing the comment. I also think with him it helps that a lot of his music tends to be very introspective and about his insecurities in a way that means people are more open to hearing him out compared to someone like StiFi's frontman. But yeah, I feel like Sticky Fingers for a lot of people won't be viewed the same way again. I honestly can't see myself coming back to their music unless something drastic changes, especially due to the allegations of transphobic conduct around the same time as well from the band which I feels like goes a lot less talked about. For me they just kind of represent an aspect of Aussie culture I just don't enjoy. I also wanted to add because I remembered while not being able to sleep, there are actually a few international artists who Triple J have taken out of rotation for reasons related to various allegations. Notably recently, Rex Orange County immediately stopped getting airplay once he was charged with SA before he was put back in rotation after he was cleared. Lizzo was taken out of rotation the moment stories about her being derogatory to her dancers came out and hasn't come back since, same with Slowthai after charges of SA against him.
stifi are the greatest band in australia, you can hate on them as much as you want, but no other band produces better music that is all so different and revolutionary ❤️
Watch the full video “The Dispossessed at the Red Rattler”. It’s Lear who were the aggressors. And the second alleged abuse of Thelma was a cover up as the Dispossessed split because they caught their own singer stealing the bands own gear!
Thanks mate.. I've never heard of the band but just found out artist were cancelling Blues fest cause they are on the bill.. What a time to be alive...
these boys makes the most beautiful and amzaing music for people to connect for years and years and they do one wrong thing and now people are so quick to try and cancel them. What about al the tours they have done and millons of people finding joy from theri music. They are in a rockband idk what people expect them to be 100 percent good all the time? Let the fkn boys be
I don’t know much about this band, just read about the Bluesfest drama and another comment I saw sums up my feelings well: for a group of people who talk about restorative justice and wanting to abolish prisons etc, that same group are the ones who whenever someone does something against their morals, want them to have no path to redemption and blacklisted forever, even if the person was psychotic and on drugs at the time? Just doesn’t make sense.
Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t that triple J interview taken way out of context? They were talking about the fights within the band which is what Dylan was talking about when saying boys will be boys, why paddy went to the internet calling Triple J maggots If I’m wrong let me know
Clearly this band is an all-time great, they are just coming of age in a more culturally aware time where the “boys will be boys” attitude needs to grow up. Crabs (sp?) was right to say they didn’t speak up with the right words soon enough. As he mentioned, Being privileged isn’t an excuse for sweeping accusations of racism under the rug. I love that they had the opportunity of restitution through building a studio. I’d like to learn more about that. Thanks for this info!
I am seriously considering on behalf of fans to take triple J and Bluesfest for damages if they do not come to Perth ! Ive already written to Bluesfest and Triple J. Sticky Fingers are fantastic. Perhaps if others didnt start the crap this would not have happened
What has the world come to?! This band is up there in my top 5 bands ever, I haven’t even seen them live! I wish I could! Listening from El Paso texas love you guys!! Keep jammin
Such a shame, one of the best Oz bands in last 10 years. If you are 20 and in a rock band you will do some dump shit, it' expected. But you can't escape the fact that they consitantly produced great tunes and were a great live act. Fortunately radio plays a lesseror role. Hope they'll rise again despite the nanny state censorship. The public now they are good souls, and they seriously Tripple J is playing some shit atm, their ratitings woulld improve if they played more stifi. #listentothepeople
For some people, myself included, It’s fuckin hard to think of what to say at the best of times, let alone under pressure, The slightest bit of pressure stops any words popping up at all and it’s fucking debilitating, you end up saying shit you don’t mean just for the sake of saying something, and peoples view of you is sometimes irreparably changed. Hearing that hack interview was fucking painful, so much so that I couldn’t even get through the whole thing. That fucking prick DJ had no respect or empathy at all for what Dylan was going through and it infuriated me. Chuur Dylan, a forever misunderstood Rasta Blasta, luv ya brah ❤
I went to their concert for their yours to keep tour and I’d say it was the worst concert I’d been to as he seemed all over the place and barely singing, weirdly enough I started to love them way more afterwards as there songs have so much in it about mental health and the way they feel that I was like wow he must really mean it because he seems messed up. I have since been to their lekkerboy show and it was a lot better and was just so good 💖 love sticky fingers and I love the stuff they say, yours to keep the song is one of the songs that just gets me every time I listen to it
I only just got interested in these guys and from watching interviews and videos it is apparent to me that the accusations of racism are untrue... he obviously isn't. That being so, at what point do we say the people making the constant accusations of racism are actually bullying this kid? Racist is a horrible and upsetting thing to be called, especially when you're not. Why would he even be in that audience if he was racist? It's ridiculous. The hypocrisy of this situation to me is that had the people he was arguing with been Chinese or something, no-one would have given a s**t, it's only because they were indigenous that the accusations had any stick, but that is actually a discriminatory attitude. Aren't you supposed to judge someone 'not on the colour of their skin but on the content of their character'? If someone is acting in a way that you do not find acceptable and you do NOT say something because of the colour of their skin, THAT is also racist. I can't believe how judgmental people are these days, and how unforgiving. People should just look to their own characters and change themselves for the better, not stand in judgement over others when they don't even know the person they're judging, or what they're going through. All of these accusations of racism are projections, it is the people making them that are racist, not these guys.
If they know their biggest mistake was not communicating properly with their audience, why haven’t they broken this silence as a group? Or have they, and this is outdated?
They have and it’s out dated. Dylan made his own personal apology back in 2018 which you can find online. Triple J are a government funded national radio station in Australia. They played a big role in growing stifi's audience after they played that backyard gig in Newtown.
I only really started listening to them last year and into 2020 And now love their Music I went recently to see their Sydney show I’m now watching this video after the show seems like they are more focused on delivering good music and good shows to their fans which can only mean good things let’s hope Btw I don’t like what they have done in there passed especially what Dylan went through with patty but I still love their music
Não tem nada que aconteça que me faça odiar ou cancelar essa banda. Eles são gênios da música. Eu só iria odiar Dizza se ele fosse na minha casa e batesse na cara da minha mãe kkk
Translation in English: There's nothing that happens that makes me hate or cancel this band. They are music geniuses. I would only hate Dizza if he came to my house and hit my mom in the face lol. Thanks for watching and nice to see I have some international viewers on my Aus music content.
Who cares.... Good God they're a rock band. They're supposed to be wild and unapologetic. Do they make good music? You can't force people to be who you want them to be or to apologize for things. Man it saddens me to see Australia has turned so soft because I know we're on the same path.
Tbh I don’t really see what was so reprehensible about there behavior….they’re a rock band. Doesn’t appear to be a lot of evidence to substantiate the strong response from the industry..
Turn the camera the other way and let’s check the virtue of the people asking the questions and lecturing them on public conduct…I’m sure plenty of these people have their own skeletons in the closet but won’t have to endlessly apologize for the duration of their career.
Boys will be boys, who gives a fuck. They're a band with good music, if you don't like em fuck off and don't listen to em. I've only heard of them about a year ago here in Canada. love em!!!
Don't give a fok about what people are talking, i really like the band, really like the music, and if they had some conflicts, it is life, it is what it is
I'm really trying to understand the success of this band. Sure, they can play, and they sound good. But they're so incredibly generic. Is that the appeal? It's like a big mac? it's just the average burger? I listen to these guys and it's just background noise. Yeah, it's well done. But there's literally nothing of *artistic* value that grabs my ears.
Thing is while he did well talking to indigenous women .....he still cut her off and didn't let her talk at that one point...saying ur not racist n support women is one thing but actually listening to them .....lol
have you listened to the whole interview. I would probably listen to all of if you haven't because it is a very amicable conversation and both speak to each other very respectfully.
I'll always love Sticky Fingers, Dylan suffers from bipolar schizophrenia and I'm sure has experienced psychotic episodes due to the bipolar and substance abuse this shit isn't easy whatsoever....out of character moments are normal for a person suffering from this disorder...As someone who understands he's an absolute inspiration!
New album was heat!
There’s no real thought involved in the whole cancel culture thing. It’s just emotions
Very unbiased, great video mate 👌
La banda aussie más grande qué hay actualmente, hace poco los pude ver en vivo acá en Chile y son impresionantes
Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t that triple J interview taken way out of context? They were talking about the fights within the band which is what Dylan was talking about when saying boys will be boys, why paddy went to the internet calling Triple J maggots
If I’m wrong let me know
Clearly this band is an all-time great, they are just coming of age in a more culturally aware time where the “boys will be boys” attitude needs to grow up.
Keep jammin
It´s easy on the stage,
on the sidelines i don´t know,
the feelings all the same,
something strange I´ll never show
STIFI for life. Dont conform. Remember when rage againts the machine was asked not to swear on bbc?
Brazil loves STIFI and Dylan 💥
I bet if the moved to the states they would be fine
Where is the footage at the beginning from?
Such a shame, one of the best Oz bands in last 10 years. If you are 20 and in a rock band you will do some dump shit, it' expected. But you can't escape the fact that they consitantly produced great tunes and were a great live act. Fortunately radio plays a lesseror role. Hope they'll rise again despite the nanny state censorship. The public now they are good souls, and they seriously Tripple J is playing some shit atm, their ratitings woulld improve if they played more stifi. #listentothepeople
this is wat a rockband is suposse to do
Long live sticky fingers
They’ve had plenty of time to think of what to say in response to that interview. I’ve loved them since I was 14 but the accountability is upsetting.
Accountability for what?
As a person with a hole between her legs WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT ACCOUNTABILITY?
What should they be sorry for? Poor communication skills? Seriously dude.
Can you explain to me what happened?
I went to their concert for their yours to keep tour and I’d say it was the worst concert I’d been to as he seemed all over the place and barely singing, weirdly enough I started to love them way more afterwards as there songs have so much in it about mental health and the way they feel that I was like wow he must really mean it because he seems messed up. I have since been to their lekkerboy show and it was a lot better and was just so good 💖 love sticky fingers and I love the stuff they say, yours to keep the song is one of the songs that just gets me every time I listen to it
STIFI FOR LIFE
great video brother
Good content man!
If they know their biggest mistake was not communicating properly with their audience, why haven’t they broken this silence as a group? Or have they, and this is outdated?
They have and it’s out dated. Dylan made his own personal apology back in 2018 which you can find online. Since all of this they have built a studio for educational music based workshops in a rural indigenous community. Given to women’s shelters and gave $100k to the NSW Fire Services during the 2019 Fires. They did more than the government did during those fires.
Also calling a band all white men by default is 🤡🌎 To assume anyone’s race or heritage is just as much BS as assuming who someone dates or loves. Dylan is Māori with a gay mother, Beaker is Brazilian, Freddy is Serbian. paddy and Seamus are the only actual white dudes.
@@courtney.behindthetourbus thanks, I really had no idea about this story at all until a few weeks ago, I’m happy they did this
Still Love Sticky Fingers, Fuck the Haters!!
Unfortunately we live in an age where clickbait and outrage supercede knowledge and justice. You better believe that if what happened to stifis happened to the people giving them shit, they wouldn't be so quick to cancel.
I know sticky fingers but who tf is tripleJ 😂😂😂
Triple J are a government funded national radio station in Australia. They played a big role in growing stifi's audience after they played that backyard gig in Newtown.
Hey mate where can I find that podcast that Freddy is on? What’s it called? I’m struggling to find it

I only really started listening to them last year and into 2020 And now love their Music I went recently to see their Sydney show I’m now watching this video after the show seems like they are more focused on delivering good music and good shows to their fans which can only mean good things let’s hope
Btw I don’t like what they have done in there passed especially what Dylan went through with patty but I still love their music
Can you explain to me what happened?
fan!
If I'd go to a concert and the musicians start talking about the issues,
I'd think the same thing. Do that shit on Twitter not a paid show
Boys will be boys, who gives a fuck.
Bro was having a schizophrenic episode though
Triple j sucks
lol at racism charges. F your racism triggering!
Nothing but love STIFI 🤍🤍🤍🤍
