Beginners Sewing Tutorial - Bird from Fabric Remnants

Red Rocking Bird here to share with you lots of Sewing, Art and DIY.
This little bird is adorable and you really should make one, not just one...a flock! If you are a beginner I show you how, step by step. I demonstrate how I hand sew the bird, but of course you can use a sewing machine if you'd prefer.
He is made from fabric scraps, even those tiny scraps that you feel could only go in the trash, we will use them.

All you need:
Fabric Scraps (I used cotton)
Scissors (I use small craft scissors to show you don't need anything special)
Needle
Cotton thread
Pen/Pencil
Paper to print template.
You will love this cute little project. You could use it as a pin cushion too. Or some seamstress cutting weights. They would look super cute in Christmas fabrics hung on the Christmas tree. Or how about neutrals for wedding birds.

Thanks for the great tutorial and pattern. Made my first one by hand but will make them on the machine , I found the stitches showing even though I made tinny stitches. I sat the little bird on a round pin cushion made to look like a nest. Looks great and double the surface where to put pins.

First hand stitched project I've ever tried. Very easy to follow, I need lots of practice on the invisible stitches, but I absolutely love the lil birds. This gave me confidence to try more. Thank you!

I find if you go nice and slow it's actually much neater when hand stitching, just wish I'd clipped the curve a bit more on those wings! Did you see my latest bat pattern, you can make that fully from felt. I am just in the middle of a little fox as well. Which animals do you like? Thanks for watching....keep watching 😊💜

Thank you, this little guy doesn’t have feet, you could add a bit of fabric and shape as required, or I do a pattern that has metal feet, available to purchase on my website, link in video description 😊
