Georgia's strategic importance lies not only in its location in the Caucasus between Eastern Europe and West Asia but also in its pro-business approach and pragmatic, rational and constructive foreign policy. The country is also world-famous for its wine and stunning natural landscape. Since its independence in 1992, Georgia has been committed to deepening trade and economic relations with China. In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's Zou Yun talks to Irakli Garibashvili, prime minister of Georgia, who attended the opening ceremony of the 31st FISU Summer World University Games in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, where he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Garibashvili says Georgia attaches great importance to its friendship with China and is committed to strengthening cooperation with China, adding that upgrading bilateral relations to a strategic partnership will benefit the two peoples. He commends President Xi's Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative, and he welcomes China's peace plan to solve the Ukraine crisis.

With Russia to the north, Iran to the South, Asia to the East, and Europe to the West, if the world can be peaceful and trade can be open, then Georgia is in prime position to benefit immensely from trade flows across Eurasia. It is absolutely in Georgia's interests to work with those who work towards trade and economic integration, and not to support indiscriminate decoupling and sanctions.

Also for Swiss trail hikers and cyclists Georgia sounds very attractive (if not France as a change), because it obviously has a good food culture, cultural sites and above all a not too heavily populated and not destroyed nature with great biodiversity, and its flora and fauna, which one could photograph with the digital camera. Furthermore, the crime rate is probably low. While other people are attracted to the West, I am increasingly drawn (culturally) to the developing East. The important thing is that everyone can be happy without discrimination, Georgians, Europeans, Chinese, Russians and maybe even US Americans.

@@gold_real_money we don't hate Russians just their politics, if Russia fucked off from our lands we would be best friends, unfortunately USA makes politics in that way that they don't allow us to have negotiations with the Russians, USA spends billions here each year in NGO, government, media lobbying
