    This is great info. Although, it took us 8.5 months to complete the entire process! Therefore, we were not able to travel back to the States (90 days completely wiped out) or travel outside Spain during that time. Now, if you have kids, keep in mind that enrollment for school here in Spain ends in mid-July, yet it all depends on the public, semi private, or private school of choice. ***Warning*** ⚠️ Spains taxes may be paid in full upon becoming a tax-resident, and if you have more than 180 days in total. Keep in mind that if you sell your home, it may be taxed in Spain as "Beckham Law" does NOT include self-employed / contract DNV individuals! Lawyers DO NOT ADVISE ON 😢 YOUR tax bracket and how it WILL NOT BE 24%!!! A self-employed or contract individual pays higher taxes. IT may be 3 different taxes depending on region and providence in Spain. So make sure you get ALL the information pertaining to your specific circumstances. Finally, we love it here in Spain!

    Awesome video! I have 3 questions that came up after watching it, which I would love if you could answer them:
    1) Can you travel inside the Schengen Area in the first 90 days while your permit or TIE is processing? Like from Spain to Sweden or France.
    2) Based on your video, it is implied that it takes longer than 90 days to get the TIE, does that mean you would end up being in Spain "illegaly"?
    3) After the first 90 days, if you still don't have the TIE, can you travel inside Spain? Like from Madrid to Barcelona or something like that

      You can travel as long as you still have some of your 90 days left. If you are over your 90 days while you are awaiting a response you need to stay within Spain but you will not be illegal as you have a processing visa. But yes you can move around in Spain after your 90 days while you are waiting for a response!

    Thank you so much for this.
    Can applicants enter Spain with their first-world passport then apply for DNV in Spain with their ex-colony passport, to be able to apply for SP citizenship after 2 years of residence? Thank you.

    So many questions. I am a W2 full-time US employee. My company has agreed to allow me to work remotely from Spain. Is this not possible as a W2 employee? If I do have to switch to being a 1099 contractor with my company, can I still get the favorable Beckham tax rate? Thanks.

    Is it ok if my work contract just says 100% remote? Or does it have to say I’m allowed to work remotely in Spain? Does the work authorization letter need to be different than my work contract that has the terms and $ value (rate) on it?

    • @christinadavisnomad
      @christinadavisnomad  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your work contract just has to say you are 100% remote and then you need a separate authorization letter signed by your work allowing you to work from Spain. My lawyer drew up the letter for me to get signed

    Oh so W2 employees are kinda SOL at the moment because of social security? Bummer. My company is based in the US and England.

      Yeah it’s really complicated for US employees. If you can find a way to apply from your UK branch then you could potentially do it

    Can anyone explain how to pay taxes as a digital nomad?
    For example, if my boyfriend and I applied for a visa in April, received it in May/June, and moved to Spain in October. From what period should we start paying taxes? immediately after receiving the visa?

    • @christinadavisnomad
      @christinadavisnomad  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      After 183 days in spain you become a tax resident for that year. if you moved in october then the following tax year you would be paying fully to spain. the year before is a bit tricky but you would file as non-tax resident

    It's crazy how every source states a different list of requirements... The LA consulate says nothing about gathering all my clients' company registrations and getting those apostilled! That actually sounds like a major pain in the ass. Maybe it's meant to be? Might be a big deterrent for people who may be interested and successful but just not willing to rock the boat so much with their clients asking for copies of their personal business documents. It's just weird to ask.

    • @christinadavisnomad
      @christinadavisnomad  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s all public documents so you can find them on the state gov website of where their business is located!
