When you got Bella, she was already with food.. must've had how much ever she wanted.. as in she had direct access. Training is better when they're a little hungry.. like before meal times. Loved that koda nailed this... Poor cooper is so focused on the treat that he wouldn't see anything else maybe hide the treats out of sight so he can't focus in on it. Bella was like nope not doing that.

Our pup rings a bell to go out, has a bell next to her food and water to tell us she needs something. We are working on teaching her to use recordable buttons for go, treat, walk and big bed
I have some advice for anyone trying to teach their dogs this trick... (and instructions on how to train them this trick). It takes time and patience, don't get upset if they don't understand right away. If you have a high energy dog, take breaks every 5 minutes, because you dog will not be able to concentrate and will get frustrated. If you have a low energy dog you should be able to work with them for about 10-20 minutes before they start to lose patience. If your dog gets scared easily, ring the bell a few times a day (starting a day or 2 before you start training them), so they have time to get used to the sound. Don't force them to it with their paw (don't grab there arm or paw, and pull it around). Doing that could either, scare the dog making them associate the bell with negative feelings. Make them think the task is for them to stay still while you move their limbs for them or both. Make the bottom of the bell non-slip. a few dabs of hot glue will work, or if you plan of this becoming a pertinent thing, secure it to a heavy plank of wood (or the floor). At first, you should use the command Shake (or paw), while holding the bell in your hand. Once they get use to it, slowly move the bell closer to the ground, until your hand is flat on the ground. Place the bell on the ground. Continue using the Shake (or Paw) command to get them to hit the bell. After that you should stop using any commands, it will no longer be needed. hold the treat(s) so they can see you have it. don't talk to them or point at anything, if they lose interest let them smell the treat but don't let them eat it. they won't understand what you want from them at first, so they will do all of the tricks they know hoping that one of their guesses is correct. once they hit the button, give them 2-3 treats (not all at once, but right after the other). keep doing this until they think that they have actually trained you into giving them a treat whenever they ask. once they understand the concept reduce the amount of trust. I hope that makes sense. if you have any questions just ask... :)

You can train cats but your right it is a little difficult. The cat has to have the right temperament. Bella seems like the kind of cat that is comfortable being by herself and interacting with you if she feels like it so that will make it harder to train her than a cat that is more playful and interested in humans. My best advice if this is actually something you want to train her is to try practicing this when she is in a playful mood so she doesn't feel forced into it. Also just be patient she will get it but it will take time. My cat Willow learned how to sit for treats and come when called but it did take a little while. So don't feel to bad. Also I love watching you guys. Koda and cooper and Bella make me smile all the time. Hope you guys are staying safe and having fun.

You should try sticking the treats to the tip of the bell, but if coop eats it you can try to paw (If he knows the trick) and take your hand away when his paw is heading towards the bell and it dings. For coop because he is a slow learner with this new trick it was a good idea to work on the ground and have breaks
