      Uecker was a backup catcher when he played, but a horrible hitter. He actually hit a homer off of sandy Koufax. He said something like he feared that homer would keep Koufax out of the hall of fame.

      I always thought it was a rule in MLB that each bat is designated for a specific player. And that the players had to have multiple bats ready to go in case the bat broke on a foul tip. Had the umpires saw that it was Dorn’s bat he potentially could have been fined. Could be wrong there tho.

Comedies always get reviewed poorly because from a critical perspective they aren't 'good films'. A good film draws strong emotion or says something profound. Movies like this are fun fluff you can turn your brain off to, and I think that's a wonderful thing.

      @Adamdidit 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kingamity1985 First, you're replying to someone who immediately took the "people who disagree with me are inherently all wrong" path so I wish you luck there.
      Second I would say your assessment is fairly accurate but there have always been notable exceptions .siskel and Ebert back in the day rose to the position they held in part because they could rise above that mentality old critics had. They could appreciate films for how well made they were without a lot of the restraint of the boundaries you rightly detailed.
      I'd argue that they also influenced everyone who came after then and that the modern critic is a shitload more likely to be able to view something for it's ability to deliver on its promises with quality.
      That definitely wasn't really true when this movie came out though. On the flip side, the person you replied to clearly meant modern critics.

      Vaughn struck out Parkman.

      Cerrano dropped a bomb to put the Indians up and Vaughn struck out Parkman after he intentionally walked Beck to face him. Interesting strategy by Taylor but it worked

      @@philrivera1163 It wasn’t Taylor’s strategy to walk him. It was his strategy to let Vaughn do it because he knew it was firing him up and bringing out the old flame

    There is something to be said about this. Rizzo (Cubs) is constantly known to crowd the plate and lean in to get intentionally hit by pitch. Other players will do this as well. It's definitely a strategy but you have to be good to make it look subtle. Kiiiiiind of similar to framing pitches by the catcher.
