I was recently diagnosed with mono a week ago. I saw my PCP because I had a sore throat and my neck was swollen and I was in a lot of pain. They ordered an ultrasound for that afternoon at the hospital where it was discovered that evening that I had an abscess in the back of my throat. I had also tested positive for Flu B as well. The nurse said that fighting two viruses probably weakened my immune system enough that it could have been what lead to the abscess. Once the doctor drained it, I felt instant relief, and I hope I never experience another throat abscess as long as I live.
About 2 years ago, my niece had swollen glands in her throat. She had fever and chills. We took her to the hospital, but they couldn't make a diagnosis. That you had some kind of bacterial infection. Years have passed. 5 months ago, the child became ill, had vomiting, severe nausea and fever of 37°. We took him to the hospital again. They administered transfusions and the child became well. He was diagnosed with the Eichten Bar virus, which he had transmitted.. 5 months have passed. Today, the child has fever, nausea, and vomiting again. We have to take him to the hospital again. You know what I'm wondering, if this virus is in the body for a lifetime, how long does it take for it to become active? Is it a dangerous virus? I'm very scared.
I can understand the pain. I am unsure if its a mono infection for me or I don’t have plenty of details for this virus, but my report says, past infection of mono for which i didn’t have any symptom that time except multiple swollen lymph nodes on neck however, with every passing day, i entered 4th month of the same symptoms but worse, like neck pain, neck swelling, internal throat pain but no fever, chills. I almost still think every second i m dying soon but doctors dont take me seriously. I have though noticed one thing, when i am stressed, i notice vulnerable pain and swelling and i keep on poking my swollen nodes. But when i m not, i feel lil energetic. I can say, i am not the same person since last 4months. I would just say, don’t stress as stressing flare up this virus. And make sure you monitor your every symptom. I don’t even have a family doctor here, in canada, i have been running to ER, and they don’t take me seriously anymore and walking clinics. It is too frustrating as i think that i have cancer of some sort. It sucks.

I have it for about 25 years now. Every day is a struggle with fatigue and chronic pain after an effort. Twenty years ago my son was born and his life is ruined also because he has it all same of me.

Can you speak about the lymph nodes associated with mono ? I have had only one lymphnode that is inflamed it’s the size of a pea, above my collar bone. I think people get concerned with the amount of time it takes for lymph nodes to go down. I have had it for a month and a half now . My doctor told me not to be concerned as it’s all connected to the infection .
I agree. I am having two swollen cervical lymph nodes for almost 10 weeks now and sores at back of my throat. Dr said u had mono infection. I still have sores at back of my throat and swollen lymph nodes. Now, i am also facing swelling on my left side of neck. I dont know if i need to trust the dr or see another dr. The anxiety is killing me.

That sounds so painful! Glad they were able to drain it and provide relief of your pain. And I hope you never experience that again either!!
As someone who has mono, I can confirm that sometimes I feel like I was running when I haven’t
After 6 months I’m still tired. Only sleeping seems to improve energy levels. I don’t have the other symptoms that are mentioned here.
