Thank you SO MUCH for this information!! I'm currently taking Art History II and I feel awful because I've just never found myself attracted to or interested in art before the 1800's. I've been having such a difficult time with this class because I cannot for the life of me keep focused on reading page after page about it. It's just so monotonous to me and I feel like I've learned almost nothing. And I have to write a paper and I was just like, dangit I haven't gotten anything. I decided to finally search TH-cam in hopes of finding a video with helpful information that would hopefully keep me half interested and able to understand a bit better. And yours popped up immediately. And Holy smokes I am SO GRATEFUL for you!!! You made me crack up and stay not only focused but also learning a ton all the while keeping it interesting. Thank you thank you!! I subscribed! :D
I'm also in Jewish Batman' s class and I can second his statement....except there is one heretic who doesn't like you. Don't worry though, we took care of her.
Thank you for providing this video. I have a presentation on Renaissance through 19th century art and I've just been at a loss but you helped to bring things into perspective and get things kicked off right. I like how you broke things down and did so with humor.
+Goose Thanks for the kind words. The intended audience of this would be high school students taking AP/IB courses for college credit or university students.
this channel is literally everything.... how is it not more popular... even for people not in ap euro, i think they would really like the knowledge and practical information presented in all of these videos... :/
+Promethium61 01 Thank you! I'd probably grow a bit faster if I posted more regularly but with my online tutoring business growing it's hard to post as much as I did a few years ago... but I'm looking at ways to make video production more efficient so stay tuned!
Oh my goodness. In what kind of a messed-up society does a woman have to go through torture to verify her testimony of being a rape victim? That was SO horrifying that that is all that is stuck in my head at the end of this clip. So she had to go through the trauma of being raped AND tortured.... :(
Hey Tom can you please do a video on how to write a proper SAQ for any Euro test please?? My current Euro teacher is not teaching us very well with the SAQ’s and right now I could say that you’re a lot more knowledgeable when it comes to these. Thank you!! I’d appreciate it!!
+Smokebonde I'm not really an expert on SAQs but I will look into doing something after I finish my LEQ videos. The test-taking videos can get a little monotonous and exhausting after awhile, which is why I took a detour to create this lecture on the Baroque. But I do hope to have something for you sometime before the exam!
Tom , you should give the AP Euro class @ Valley View High School a shout out! We love your vids ‼️ and literally watch you everyday, bye lookin sharp in that blue 😉 #pimpinainteasy
I think it's interesting that Caravaggio did not realistically paint the blood of Holofernes, given that he was a murderer. I wonder why he chose not to do that--obviously it wasn't due to a lack of technical skill or ignorance to what real-blood looked like.
Painted before he had that fight over a tennis game where he sliced open the femoral artery in a attempt to castrate . Also it should be noted Caravaggio and Artemisia Gentileschi father , Orazio, a great artist himself , were friends though due to her position there is no knowing if she ever dealt with Caravaggio first hand . Carravaggio did use female models and that is the infamous Fillide Melandroni who is in several works . Fillides was also involved with the man Caravaggio killed

My teacher in AP Euro always plays your videos as a review after we've taken our individual notes. Our class has come to worship you as a God.
+TheJewishBatman I'm speechless... but say hello to your class and thank your teacher for supporting my work!
I'm also in Jewish Batman' s class and I can second his statement....except there is one heretic who doesn't like you. Don't worry though, we took care of her.
I happen to also be within the same class. All dissenters will be sacrificed for you. As long as our order lives, you shall be the true God.
along with the the people above, i am also in the same class and we all worship richeyanism as the highest and only power.
I happen to be in said class above. Would you take a minute to talk about our lord and savior Tom Richey?

You teach your high school students this? I wish I had teachers like you when I was in high school.
+Goose Thanks for the kind words. The intended audience of this would be high school students taking AP/IB courses for college credit or university students.
I'm a broke artist too! Thanks for the video Tom, I like your unpretentious approach

The Card Sharps is a great painting, too
I love that he's chilling with a lil' cuppa tea
Exellent video but I wish you had talked a little bit about the great Velazquez, painter of painters, and his masterpiece, "Las Meninas."
I wasted my money on an obscure art movement and ended up Baroque
+Mark Barker HA!
You couldn't get to your keyboard fast enough to type that. But you must now be told. It was not clever
@@picassoboy52 hey if it ain’t baroque don’t fix it
