The shift from the balanced perfection of the Renaissance to the emotional and dramatic tension of Mannerism is so intriguing! Mannerism’s exaggeration of proportions and colors makes it a uniquely expressive movement.
Not hella regilious nor am I in great awe over renaissance paintings, but my professor made this video a requirement. I am glad she did because too you explain the mannerism era is not only entertaining, but your joy of teaching is making me enjoy the learning. Thank you!
The same thing happened in Ancient Greece, with the perfection of the Classical era leading to the surrealism and experimentation of Hellenistic Art. Great video btw!
Indeed, in Uffizi, you have a Hellenistic Art together with Mannerists. They were looking at the Hellenistic sculptures discovered in Rome at that time.
now i really wonder what your most favourite artwork is.. since you just corrected that Raphael´s The school of Athens would be your second favourite .. :p
Ref to the timetable around 3.12: Baroque did not last until 1770s. The baroque lasted until around 1730 (dates for new styles are always "around" and parallell with old styles for a while), around the time when rococo emerged. Around the 1770s the neoclassicism was clearly established but it had started slightly already around 1750s.
Can you dedicate your next video to J. White's AP Euro class? She loves your videos so much and it would mea n the world to her if you could mention her in one of our videos. We love you, and keep up the great work!
JUST ANOTHER SPEED TALKER SELLING HIMSELF. CONTINUOUS FULL FRONTAL WITH A COFFEE CUP. ARTIFICE PUSHED ONTO THE WATCHER. BUT OF COURSE, HE'LL IGNORE IT.

Great video! Very helpful. I think you might find John Shearman's book on Mannerism helpful for describing how the term mannerism came to light.
