Almost all words in English are neuter, only some have masculine (father, brother, grandpa etc) or feminine (mother, sister, nouns that end with -ess like actress, stewardess, waitress etc) gender. But words with -ess are rarely used, mostly, people use gender neutral nouns, as far as I know

It is not even to the lord devotion more than it is about the race. If rabbis know that u are not a jew than it doesnt matter how hard u practice even the judaism as religion , u still will be considered as a non-jew.
U can show devotion to the jews if u are non-jew and u will be granted a different treatment which shows nobility to the jews and they value you not as one of them but as someone who protects and supports them.

As a Latina woman, I absolutely despise the term “latinx”. In Spanish the term “Latinos” means a group of Hispanic/Latin people regardless of gender; the o can mean both masculine and gender-neutral. I seriously don’t understand the point of using that God-awful term. Chances are, it was created by obnoxious social justice warriors who don’t even speak Spanish.

When I was in college, I had a class that was called "Cross-cultural journalism" that was really just a class on being woke. It was the most incoherent class I've ever taken. But my favorite moment was when the teacher (I hesitate to call her a professor or a doctor because she had the logical skills of a goldfish so I doubt her ability to have a doctorate) brought in a guest speaker and introduced her as "talking about Latinx" and the very first thing this guest speaker said was, "It's Latino. That is the actual term Latinos use." I had to stop myself from laughing and pointing at the teacher because it was as if her BS was finally revealed to the whole class that she had no idea what she was talking about and that all she said was BS. I am so grateful to that guest speaker.
Edit: memory serves, the guest speaker also said that "Latinx" was a perversion of the language.

As someone who's dad is from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria, I am highly offended by AOC's poor pronunciation of the tribe's name. If you are going to try to identify with the tribe, at least attempt to pronounce it correctly.

These were called conversos. So last names like Gonzalez, Perez, and yes, Cortez, are thought of to be conversó Jewish last names they took on. Some conversos embraced their new faith, but some continued to practice Judaism hidden from everyone else. If you’re interested in learning about these Jews, there are videos here in TH-cam of people who talk about discovering their Jewish roots. I actually do not doubt this about her, because a lot of Puerto Ricans do have some form of Jewish ancestry.

That was Klezmer music playing the background. Kezmer is a musical tradition of the Ashkenazi Jews, while AOC is (or claims to be) of Sephardic descent. Although they share the same faith, the Ashkenazim and the Sephardim are no closer culturally than the Taíno and the Sioux.
I'm Puerto Rican and I hate being called Mexican. Just imagine how I will get if someone calls me latinex. Btw, I don't have any hate towards Mexican people. Me hating being called Mexican comes from the assumption that if someone is latino or hispanic then they are Mexicans. When the movie Encanto came out I had people ask me if I was Colombian. It was like if they had just learned another nationality thanks to the movie.

The idea of Jewish identity through matrilineality is a social construct; it is derived from cultural, social, and religious factors, _not_ genetics or biology. Jewishness is an ethnicity whereas Judaism is a religion. That's why Jews are referred to as an ethnoreligious group. That's also why secular Jews (i.e. Jews who are ethnically Jewish yet irreligious) exist. My paternal grandmother is not Jewish, but my paternal grandfather is Scotch-Jewish. I am a Jew just as much as I am a Scott.

Melting pot here: on my father's paternal side French Huguenots that's been living in ZAR since 1686, on my father's maternal side Baltic/the then Yugoslavia the now Montenegro, and Jewish, fled to ZAR in late 1939. On my mother's paternal side, German speaking French form the area of Alsace-Lorraine, now called Alsace-Moselle, moved to the now Namibia sometime in the late 1700's. On my mother's maternal side of strong Dutch descend not sure how long that line of the family has been living in ZAR but definitely over 200 years by then. So like I'm South African, not that complicated lol is messy though when you want to dress in traditional clothing...Loved the show thanks so much for all you guys are doing!

Actually, you are. Only Hispanics here in the US seem to be unaware of this. But this is out of pure ignorance. This is why I don’t refer to myself as Latina. While yes, culturally I’m Latina, I’m really Hispanic. My family comes from Spain 🇪🇸 they immigrated to Latin America, and then my parents came here. Now, for me, Latino/a is someone who shares in the Latin culture. This includes Italians, French, Portuguese, Spanish, our cultures are so crazy similar.
Ur def part of the Latin group too. Also these dumb people are also unware that most Latinos/Hispanics are light skinned, so if they see anyone as light as they are, they don't count them as being Latin for some reason.

It reminded me of the westworld quote: "This Is The New World. And In The New World You Can Be Whoever The **** You Want." So on one hand, you have the melting pot concept, but on the other, you have a somewhat American ideal that where you came from should be purely incidental - and that this is beautiful. My view on heritage is my ancestors cared so little for where they came from that they jumped on a ship and travelled thousands of miles to build something new. AOC is claiming heritage in a manner that makes it a profound unavoidable inheritance, rather than trivia.
