Mowing at Dusk With the John Deere X570 - Running Out of Time!

  • Mowing season is finally starting to wind down here in NJ, but the grass is still tall and green, so I'm not quite done yet. Still have a few more weeks of mowing to do. It's getting darker much quicker now, so I'm running out of time to get all my accounts done on weeknights after school. Tonight I had to work into the dark to finish up one of my accounts, so I took a video. I actually mow in the dark quite frequently.
    The quality isn't great, but even in the dark, you can see the X570 cuts through tall grass without a problem, and leaves a very clean cut. She's just about to hit 200 hours. Crazy to think I've put over 180 hours on it just this season and it's still technically a new tractor. You also get to see just how awesome the LED taillight kit is. Highly recommended. Contact Jeff Walters at jefflhs@hotmail.com if you want to buy a kit.

    Awesome sounding deck. My new X590 will arrive in two weeks and I'm totally looking forward to it. I've enjoyed your other videos too. The headlights on your machine look pretty good. Every Fall I get stuck with the sun going down before I can finish my lawn. Whenever I buy a new machine I always add headlights if it doesn't come with them. It might seem foolish for a homeowner having headlights but when you need them it's nice just pushing a button.

      Enjoy your X590! The headlights on these machines are very bright and have good reach. You can always upgrade the bulbs to LED's if you want even more light.

    She sounds a bit deeper then when you mowed the empty lot, probably because it has more hours, nice machine though! I used to mow my grandpa's yard with his x720, a 2010 model, with a 27 hp engine, when he sold it, she had 89 hrs on it, oh how I miss it

      Thanks Max! The grass was a lot thicker in this video, the stuff I mowed in the empty lot was pretty much just crabgrass and fescue. I love the earlier X700 and the X485-X585 series tractors. Hope to find a nice X485 someday. Looking at a cheap 455 diesel right now, but I really don't have the room to store it.

      MichaelTJD60 If I had to recamend a lawn tractor to you, I'd recommend a x720, with my grandpa's, he had like a little creek next to his house that was pretty much dry all year, and I mowed right up to the edge of that creek when I finished his yard, went through it like it was nothing! Oh, and a 455 has to be my favorite older diesel garden tractor! My grandpa also had a x485 before his x720, I don't think he liked the carberator in the x485, and I think he wanted a bigger tractor.

      Coming from someone who swears by the old garden tractors made 30+ years ago, I love this thing. It really makes mowing quick and easy and cuts great.

    Glad to see she's running good for you. You've put way more hours on your X570 than I put on my Ztrak. I also wasn't mowing but once or twice a week during the summer.

      @MichaelTJD60  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the grass has been growing like crazy this year. We have had a few dry months but once we get rain, the grass grows like crazy all over again. Just fertilized all the lawns a few weeks ago so they are still green. In mid-summer I was out there 5 to 6 hours a day running the X570.

      Thanks. lol. Seats aren't cheap, gotta keep them protected somehow! I've pretty much made seat covers mandatory for all the working tractors.

    Does this cut any better than the 318 or 316?

    • @MichaelTJD60
      @MichaelTJD60  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, by far. Mainly because this is a deep-shell deck and it has a lot of airflow. Although I never had the chance to try out a deep-shell 50" deck on a 316 or 318...I imagine the cut quality would be similar.

    Where ya been buddy ? What projects ya working on ? How is 318 coming ?

    • @MichaelTJD60
      @MichaelTJD60  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      School has been kicking my butt. Really looking forward to Thanksgiving. The 318 has been on hold for a few weeks as I'm still waiting for Deere to get the parts I ordered. I have the engine back in and sheet metal on it, but the trans is out of it right now to replace a couple seals. I hope to have it back together next weekend and will make a video on it.

    Did you have to sharpen your blades this season?

    • @MichaelTJD60
      @MichaelTJD60  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sharpen the blades every 25 hours. I have two sets of blades but could really use two more sets.

      could you make a video on how you did that?

    • @MichaelTJD60
      @MichaelTJD60  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm going to cover it in the next update video I do on the tractor. Basically all you do is unplug the switch under the dash and plug in a small piece of wire across both prongs on the harness and it bypasses the switch.

      I just joined the John Deere family, I bought the 2018 1025r with some attachments to maintain 4 acres. It’s is worth every dollar I spent on it, even though the hood is plastic and some other parts. 😊👍🏽

    • @MichaelTJD60
      @MichaelTJD60  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats on your purchase! I wouldn't mind a 1 series someday. They may have a plastic hood but they give you a lot of other great features to compensate for it, and at the end of the day you have a much more durable tractor than most other brands out there.
