Happy New Year and Happy Chanukah, Oxford, December 31st 2024

It's a mild dry day, good enough to sit outside on the seats and tubs in Broad Street. Ideal weather to relax and feast at the Christmas market: still running, with its après-ski-chalet bar, a singer, and goodies ranging from German chocolate kisses and frankfurters to English fudge, cherry preserves, and Greek gyros. And since tomorrow is a holiday, no-one need worry about drinking too much. I soak up the atmosphere and wander round the market, watch the band, enjoy the colourful stalls, and finish by filming today's Chanukah lamp-lighting, atop a Snorkel alongside the giant menorah outside Pepperberry's. Happy New Year, and Happy Chanukah!
