I rememember very many happy days on this railway. Sometimes very wet, cold, and not very comfortable. PW work in winter could be quite taxing at times. The Rhiw valley can be very chilly in winter, and lying prone in the mud drilling holes in the rails was a somewhat masochistic pleasure. A Christmas family steam up was particularly memorable with the loco derailing almost at once on leaving the station because of frozen slush accumulating around the rails and causing the flanges to ride up. Much fun with crowbars getting her rerailed. No harm done, thank goodness.
Les Jackson was the `sleeper king' who could seemingly replace rotten sleepers (of which there were very many) with his eyes shut, without complaint. Carriage building with Mike in the shed, asisted by various characters over the years was never dull or boring. The memorable roasts prepared by Helena in the farmhouse in the company of Les and the late Joan, amongst others, will stay in my memory, as will Les `s tales from the big railway. The trek to Manafon was always worth it.
It is very sad to see the demise of this lovely railway - especially as it has never looked so good. Thanks to Mike for his hard work, and hospitality, and to Patricia, and all of the other ladies as well for keeping everybody supplied with tea and biccies at the open days. Hopefully the railway will find a new home and that the engines and all of the rolling stock will continue to provide fun and satisfaction to lovers of steam for many years to come. Mike will now be able to pay all due attention to his new boat, the Dutch Barge `Sorcerer' which I hope will give him as much joy as the railway of which he was so fond.

What a tragedy that this railway has closed…quite poignant for me as October 2nd was my birthday! Until I watched the truly excellent video I’d never heard about this wonderful little railway. The work required to build and operate such a large private railway was…obviously…quite staggering. My condolences to the bereaved Lady whose husband died and I sincerely hope some sort of future will be found for the railway. Best wishes, and thanks for the truly excellent drone videos! I can understand why this closed. basically its a private garden railway running round a field. Maintenance must be a nightmare and ofcourse the dredded insurance that has ruined so much fun.
