Fighting Force (known in Japan as Metal Fist (メタルフィスト?)) is a 1997 3D beat 'em up developed by Core Design and published by Eidos in the same lines of classics such as Final Fight and Streets of Rage. It was released for the PlayStation, Windows and Nintendo 64.
The game was originally devised by Core Design as Streets of Rage 4 to be published by Sega exclusively for the Saturn. Sega pulled the Streets of Rage name during development after a disagreement with Core about porting it to rival formats.
Fighting Force is part of the 'beat 'em up' genre. Players control one of four characters as they move through urban and science fiction environments, battling waves of oncoming enemies with weapons ranging from fists and bottles to knives, chairs and guns. The player can make some choices as to which territory to travel through.
The four characters have various reasons for taking on Dr. Zeng, a criminal mastermind with an army at his command. The action starts with a police cordon around Zeng's office skyscraper, moving to such locales as a shopping mall, subway and Coast Guard base before finally ending at the top of Zeng's island headquarters.

I don't ever actually remember owning this game, but no matter how I look at it, it gives me this deep nostalgia, as if I have played it once..
I had it but I have the same feeling as you since mine never worked, cds were a dumb way to distribute games, as dumb as cartridges since they're so fragile.

I remember playing this with my sister growing up. I loved all the little weapons you could use and I believe you could help fill up your health bar with the soda machine.

I remember playing this on demo disc I had back in 98 in 2nd grade. I didn't really know what I was doing but it brings me back to simpler times.
Wow 2nd grade, I can speak to the same memories except I played the same demo on the disc that came with either psx or playstation magazine, I was 15 or 16 however. That's it...just the demo and yet hold such nostalgia for it, I bought the physical game about 7 yrs ago.... mind you I'm now 40 hahah. This game was awesome back in 97-98

Yep. We all shared a house in the 90s. They decided to add me into the game as a bad guy They also made Tomb Raider, which was a quite popular game. I'm in that also :)
