how can a comet be so massive that this could happen lol. its more likely that a moon of saturn came closer, like phobos, moon of mars does it too now until it got into the roche limit. Its from 2013 but still, lol
So young saturn had no rings before a moon was nearly at the roache limit an icy comet hit the moon and pushed the moon to the roche limit and formed thr rings it was shreded on earth a planet sized of mars hit earth and formed rings but earth had didnt have enough gravity to hold on so it formed to the moon plz like my comment cause my arm is in freaking PAIN pst im on tablet it hurts

Let me explain, when the moon named Chrysalis pass too close to Saturn and the moon gets explode and formed the rings around Saturn
So we now know that the rings were formed only 100 million years ago... and the rings will be gone in another 300'ish million years.
Maybe after that Saturn might get new set of rings. Who knows?!

I believe this theory comes from the ice and comet remains inside of the rings. Comets can be big enough to do this, they just are very rare.
