It's a source of India's soft power (google it)
And it's quality notwithstanding, people in countries like Mexico and indonesia recreate bollywood movies and songs because they love them. Not because they consider it cringe.
Many indian ekta kapoor type soaps, like kumkum bhagya etc, which you and I won't even touch with a pole, are wildly popular in many African and latin American countries. (Google it).
Especially in west Africa. The U 17 Football team of ghana, when they came to India for a tournament, went to meet the cast of that show especially.
So, you have to understand, the world knows about yoga, mediation, Om, vedas, and what not about India, and hence are favourably disposed towards us. Bollywood too is a part of that "soft power". It's our strength.
So in conclusion, whether bollywood is cringe or not is subjective, plus people emulate it because they like it.
And, " Others" Don't like this for obvious reasons.
