Driving from Santiago del Teide to Masca | Scary Road with Stunning Views | Tenerife Travel | 4K

- Before 1970s there were just a few paths wandering up and down the hill and Masca village was effectively cut off from the wider world. The main road leading there today is hardly average and far from a smooth driving experience so any motorist with a phobia for heights and sharp hairpin bends would be well advised to join a tour instead.
This is a seriously challenging drive up and down a narrow road that clings precariously to what seems like a sheer cliff face at times, and there are points where you have to crane over the steering wheel to see your way forward.
If you’re up for a challenge the road trip to Masca offers some of the most fabulous views on the island. The majestic Teno Mountains lurch up on all sides, their rocky slopes dotted with small clusters of houses, and there are fine views across the great gorge to the Atlantic Ocean in the distance.

This is the most amazing road I’ve ever seen! So narrow and twisting like a roller coaster ride! The surrounding scenery is just breathtaking! Fantastic trip my friend!

Nice drone shots and choice of music. It is quite a squeeze when rounding the corners to get to Masca. It's even more of a squeeze when you're in a bus, like we were.

Just did that trip by tour bus today. That was our exit route, after entering Masca from the other direction. What a thrill and exhibition of skillful driving by our bus driver. Those hairpin turns are such a challenge for a bus! Scenery was breath taking!
Bus drivers there are true heroes. I've done it in a bus few times and it was crazy experience. Never again:-)

Brilliant road. Loved the aerial shots. I am more aware of heights now I am older but not a problem on roads like this with the protective barriers. It is roads like this without any protection from the drops that give me pause knowing that a mistake could be really serious. Wonderful views.
