It's beauty is down to it being modally and melodically perfect, but far more importantly... it sounds 'kin great! I maybe being a little over the top, but I think in centuries to come this will be considered a classic of our time and people will still be playing it.
I've gotta say, after hearing Kiko, Kiko nails that solo as close to perfect as possible. Marty sounded like he messed up slightly in one part of that solo.

He is the reason I LOVE Kellys and the Explorer shape in general. My KEX Kelly, Wylde Audio Buzzsaw Blood Eagle, and West Creek Explorer are my favorite guitars in the collection. They are only topped by my Epi Alex Lifeson Sig. I wish he had an Explorer in the same setup and options as his Les Paul.

It's not like Marty ever left on bad terms, he was feeling creatively unfulfilled when he left Megadeth and despite Dave's resistance to the idea of letting Marty go, it was for the best (for Marty's sake, at least). But now we get to enjoy moments like these.

Dave was trying to talk him into coming back in 2014 and 2015. Nick was like, “I’ll think about it but I need to finish these tours first. I’m loyal dude,” and then he died on stage. It sucks. Dude was a great drummer. Very underrated, and very consistent. Dystopia really needed Chris Adler to work, and Dirk does an amazing job playing Adler’s parts and he did great on their latest album, but I’ll always miss Nick’s straight forward punch style of playing.
I'm not really a huge fan of thrash, but that solo has to be a contender for best ever rock guitar solo. It just flows; it leads you on a journey and just keeps building the tension...absolutely brilliant!
Nobody can replicate his bends and vibrato. And why should they? Marty's technique is completely unique, like Eric Gales. Trying to play exactly like them would be absurd.

Old magic never dies. I remember seeing Clash of the Titans tour in 90-91, and was blown away then. It's awesome to feel some of that old magic again. Get out there and see your favorite band... life is crazy short for all of us. Rust in Peace!
I really miss those days. It was such a great time to be alive. I feel like the advent of technology has done a lot of damage to the arts because there’s just too much going on, constantly. There’s no time to stop and think about what’s going on and then create something, because people have already forgotten whatever it was that you’re writing about. And even if they haven’t, there’s no time to stop and listen to whatever you created. It’s great for revisiting where we were, but sometimes it makes me realize that we took a wrong turn somewhere, whether it was avoidable or not.

This is THEE solo everyone wants to hear. Crowds reaction says it all and even Dave and kiko stepped back to let Marty have center stage during that section. Cool to see Marty with his trademark Jackson Kelly again.
It also doesn't hurt that Marty Friedman has lived in Japan for over a decade now, and has been a TV personality there pretty much the entire time. If you look at the social media accounts of Japanese HM bands & members, they were all super excited to see him play with them, and it seemed like they ALL went to the show.
I literally cried when he started the solo. He is such a genius. So great to hear him perform it with the band again. Great audience reactions to the solo as well. And the other band members stepping back leaving him the center place on stage. Awesome to watch.
What a moment. I love that it doesn't seem like they're doing these shows for the hype. They're genuinely celebrating Marty and how much he did for the band, and the guitar as an instrument.
I actually cried .... then don't get me wrong - what Kiko & Dirk & James did to Megadeth is amazing and we wouldn't have "we'll be back" without them so ... hats off BIG TIME ... but Marty is Marty ... i saw them in 1992 ... and this actually brought me to tears
Absolutely! Emotions flowing too! Saw them at House of Blues, Hollywood, CA in 1999 or 2000…can’t remember I was just a teen, but it was a blast seeing them in a tiny venue!
It wouldn't have been awesome to have just a short clip of Menza drumming along to this on the screens to close out the song as a tribute. This itself is still absolutely incredible
I would have killed to see Marty play this live! Many can play the solo...only one can do it with the style it was designed to be played in! It sounded so good with a phone recording...can't imagine how awesome it sounded in person!

The reason marty left was that he wanted more variety in his playing while dave was focus on making faster and faster and heavier songs.

This is THEE solo everyone wants to hear. Crowds reaction says it all and even Dave and kiko stepped back to let Marty have center stage during that section. Cool to see Marty with his trademark Jackson Kelly again.
It also doesn't hurt that Marty Friedman has lived in Japan for over a decade now, and has been a TV personality there pretty much the entire time. If you look at the social media accounts of Japanese HM bands & members, they were all super excited to see him play with them, and it seemed like they ALL went to the show.
Great to see Marty join in. The whole show was fantastic.
He brought the energy. Marty's got them jumping around the stage like a proper metal show lol.

I literally cried when he started the solo. He is such a genius. So great to hear him perform it with the band again. Great audience reactions to the solo as well. And the other band members stepping back leaving him the center place on stage. Awesome to watch.
What a moment. I love that it doesn't seem like they're doing these shows for the hype. They're genuinely celebrating Marty and how much he did for the band, and the guitar as an instrument.

I actually cried .... then don't get me wrong - what Kiko & Dirk & James did to Megadeth is amazing and we wouldn't have "we'll be back" without them so ... hats off BIG TIME ... but Marty is Marty ... i saw them in 1992 ... and this actually brought me to tears

Absolutely! Emotions flowing too! Saw them at House of Blues, Hollywood, CA in 1999 or 2000…can’t remember I was just a teen, but it was a blast seeing them in a tiny venue!

I would have killed to see Marty play this live! Many can play the solo...only one can do it with the style it was designed to be played in! It sounded so good with a phone recording...can't imagine how awesome it sounded in person!

@@extrememind100 I’ve always thought that bit is the hardest part of the solo, with the little sweeps and slides. To get it all sounding perfectly smooth anyway. I’m not surprised he doesn’t get it totally perfect live, or do it exactly the same as on the album.
